Shinsplits,

They have struggled this year to get their strongest team on the paddock, State Champs being the first time, and last time apparently. Looks like I might have been wrong with regard to them being at full strength. I'm told Max didn't play last weekend (shoulder injury) so probably won't play and the 5/8th has a broken leg. Dylan, who you mentioned, is filling in there. David Morris is not playing and Harry Williams (NSW lock) hasn't played last couple of games, not sure if he is in for Sunday. They still have a number of good players though and have experience in winning club finals footy games so will be tough to beat, just not as tough as I was expecting which is a shame.

And yes, you did see correctly. Jordan (Prop) was called into the Sydney side to replace (I think) the injured Junior.

Also hearing that this will be their last season as Pirates. Too many school commitments for most next year. The rest are off to Norths Colts together.
Hills touched them up last week 36-19and never looked like losing. Norths scored 2 late try's after the Hills coach went to the bench.I think last weeks Hills win will be in the front of the North's boys minds.

U/16A Finals!

After having looked at the Buddah Site (love the name and i am wondering if it has any connotation with respect to SJRU being God's or the like ... lmao), anyway I have noticed that Canterbury came 5th and yet they had the same amount of wins as some of the other teams above them. In fact they had a better 'For and Against' too!

Was there some sought of bonus sytem being applied during the year (similar to Super Rugby where a bonus point is given for coming within 7 points of the opposition)?

They seemed to have a great win over Hawkesbury in the last round (who came second) and yet they couldn't make the finals! Did they lose a point in this game?

For mine Hills and Canterbury were the only two teams which I considered having any opportunity of beating Merrylands. They came oh so close two weeks ago!

Regards,
Newbie.

Newbs, I asked if you knew anything about this back in post 1428. They have had one point less for a while. I can only assume that they turned up to a game without a qualified touchie (which costs a point this season).

Malcsy, as usual you are correct!

Andrew Kellaway played No 15 for Gordon U/16s in the State Championships! He would have been one of the players subjected to the draft between Schools and SJRU so would be eligible for selection in NSWJRU team!

As previously mentioned, at the announcement, last Sunday, of the U16 NSW team, an exception was made to include 5 players who did not play on the day, of which Kellaway was one, the bloke who announced the team had a dig at Schools for 'interfearing'. I assume he ment, that Schools had selected those players therefor they were unavailable to play last Sunday.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember that when the Zone teams were selected there was discussion about kellaway having made himself 'unavailable' for selection wanting to concentrate on schools selection? IMO his choice was ultimately saying that he did not wish to represent his Club/SJRU. The other four didn't have a choice. Can someone enlighten us?

That is also my understanding. NSW Juniors stated that exceptions would be made for players who had originally been selected in either the city or country team but were drafted into the Schools team(and rightlty so). The city selection criteria states that players MUST play at the regionals for a Zone team to be selected in the city team. Therefore, how can AK (Andrew Kellaway) have ever been selected in the city team? IMO he is NOT eligable to play for NSW Juniors under 16's team ???? AK (Andrew Kellaway) made a decision to guarentee selection in the very strong schools team by pulling out of regionals, just like other boys did in the schools team. There should be no special rules for AK (Andrew Kellaway).

At Scots you may not play Club rugby if you play in 1st or 2nd's. That is why he wasn't at the regional comp.

So why did he play at the state age champs? I noticed on the NSWJRU list it stipulates that AK (Andrew Kellaway) is from Hunters Hill. Whatever happened to transperancy?

Does anyone know when the NSWJRU decided to have an U16s team this year - before or after the Regionals?

Before - there is a press release on the nsw schools site (as i recall) dated in may describing the reversal by NSWRU to not field 3 teams at nationals.

We're aware of that, but the reason he didn't play at the regionals is irrelevant and doesn't somehow nake him elgable.to play for NSW Juniors .

Do you all agree that he has no understanding of 5th grade spelling or are you still on this topic?

Watched the semis today and was totally underwhelmed by the standard of the Merrylands backs,I had expected them to be much better given that they are undefeated, Were they maybe missing some of their players ?, I thought the Roseville 16 c's backs had better structure and better ball movement than the Merryland backs. Hawkesbury can beat them in the return match in 2 weeks provide they get past Norths as long as they maintain the intensity they showed in the 1st half. Perhaps Hawkesbury thought they had it won at oranges as they faded badly in the 2nd half.
