Righto, now for the silly season...

Following the post season celebrations, there has already been some considerable movement at the station as far as coaching goes. There are also player movements out of the zone that will make the competition much closer next season (particularly bring Aggies and Tahs back to the peloton) which I will follow up on over the summer.

These are the coaches I know who will be coaching in 2012.

SIRU 2012 Coaching Staff (Team - 2011 Coach - 2012 Coach)

Aggies – Andrew Corcoran –Richard Turnbull
Albury – Don Cameron – VACANT
City – Jarrod Bryant – VACANT
Coota – Kristian Bodycott – Kristian Bodycott
Griffith – Clint Robertson – Clint Robertson
Leeton – Dave Sinclair – VACANT
RARC – Mark Fisher – Leo Orreal
Reddies – Cannon Banks – Cannon Banks
Temora – Bill McCrone – Bill McCrone
Tahs – Mick Barrett – Mick Barrett?
Tumut – Matt Chapman – VACANT
Young – Luke Eldridge – VACANT

Does anyone else have any mail on who will be coaching at Aggies, Albury, Leeton, Tumut or Young?

Ag College Chasing International Coach...

Who could this be? My mail said that they were looking for a local bloke, but given Stu Hodgson's contacts in NZ, this could be anybody. It's exciting times for the club.

Anyone from Sydney (or Aggies) have any mail on this one? My initial thoughts were Damian Hill, but Hilly is already tied up at the Rebels

Reading between the lines (Kiwi, one of the most sought after names in international rugby coaching) it's gotta be Graham Henry!

Mail just in.

Richard Turnbull is the candidate for Aggies 2012.

Anyone from Orange Emus know much about this? I know he helped out the Waratahs early this year with some skill sessions, so this is a bit of a coup for the Aggies if they can pull it off.

mail in, no more ricky for wagga city. thats got to hurt them

Mmmm, I know. Good on him though, a step up the ladder from what I hear. Ricky is a Pony no more. He joins a long list of ex-Wagga based DO's who have moved on to jobs with other franchises. Some would say Wagga is the proving ground...

For City, it's a real disappointment, they need someone like Ricky to give them some impetus and get things kicking along.

Ricky is off to the Rebels.

Following Ricky's appointment as S&C Coach at the Rebels, Wagga City are on the lookout for a new coach for 2012. Hopefully this gets sorted quickly for them and importantly, they will want to hold onto the players that Ricky had attracted to the club.

Word has it that Joe Tora (Rivcoll), Aaron Louden (RARC) and Peter Little (Southcity League) were all following Ricky to the City Men. With the likes of Tora and Louden in the forwards combined with their already sizeable pack, this would make them easily the largest forwards in the zone.

What will happen now that he's goooone?

Maybe they'll come down Melbourne way. Our comp is getting better each year (or rather the top 4 or 5 sides are getting better).

Keep an eye out for Ricky down there enforcer, he's a gun. Plays halfback, fit as a fiddle and a real motivator. I doubt the other guys will leave Wagga (Louden maybe, if he gets posted there) but you never know.

Joe Tora will not be at reddies next year he had made that clear to a few senior players, as for lounden and little niether of them will go with out ricky being there and jarrod byrant will resume as coach.

my question is, who will be the rep coach ? Richard Turnbull perhaps the best cv and who will the team attrack i know a few players this yr dont think they will play again along with the players leaving the zone.

interesting times head

I haven't seen an off-season like this in the zone for a while now, so many rumours I can't stay on top of them all!!

Manning Doughty from Randwick to Waratahs?
Barrett brothers to coach Waratahs 2012?
Jack Burey off to Randwick Colts?
Jayden Stanton to Royals?
Dan Selmes to Tuggies?
Xavier Chigwidden to Aggies?
Aggies hold onto all their players for 2012?
Tumut to sign a current player as Captain-Coach in 2012?
Joe Tora to Wagga City?

Rigs - any mail from the MIA mate?

Anyone got anything from Albury or Young? This is ridiculous!

Joe Tora - I'll believe it when I see him run out wearing Blue and White in 2012! I reckon Louden will stay at RARC and Peter Little will stay with South City.

jarrod byrant will resume as coach.

My mail says that Mick Small will be coaching City in 2012.

Ok, so the only club I know of without a confirmed coach is Albury.

Jack Burey has been appointed as the new DO which means he will stay at CSU.

Manning Doughty is back in Wagga and will play at the Tahs.

Junee are talking about entering a 3rd Grade side in 2012.

Just a quick overview of where all the clubs are sitting at the moment. I'll follow up with some more detailed info after the Leeton 10's and SIRU Knockout.

Aggies – Great signing in Richard Turnbull as coach, no major player signings as yet, but you never know who they may uncover out at CSU. Xavier Chigwidden is staying at the Tahs after all the off-season chat about him playing at Aggies in 2012.

Albury – I don’t have any mail from the border – namtrak maybe you can help out here mate??

City – ‘New’ Coach in Mick Small. Gain Joe Tora and his nephew who allegedly played Fiji Under 20’s in 2011. Also the return of Gordon and Eddie Lagaali to the Boiled Lollies will hold them in good stead.

Coota – No mail. The boys in Coota seem to have been around for a while now, hopefully there is some new blood in town this year.

Griffith – No mail, but all sorts of players show up at Griffith, so you never know…

Leeton – Dave Sinclair from coach to player will be interesting to watch. I’m looking forward to how co-coaches Matt Allen and Greg Horton fair in 2012.

RARC – Signed RARC stalwart Leo Orreal as 2012 Coach, but as far as players go, it’s always a tough one, the boys in Defence never really know where they are going to be for the year. I doubt we’ll see Aaron Louden at City now that Ricky Dumigan is in Melbourne.

Reddies – Lose Joe Tora to City, have retained Jack Burey after he was signed as the Brumbies DO.

Temora – Gain Bill McCrone returning from injury, but lose Josh Breust to the Temora Kangaroos AFL side and Adam Manning to greener pastures which will hurt.

Tahs – Lose Rob Elliot (Retired), Mick Roche (Sydney), Dan Selmes (Tuggeranong), Jayden Stanton (Royals). Gain Manning Doughty and Sam Hobbs (Randwick). That’s a reasonable shake up at the Tahs and the boys in blue will have plenty of pressure on them this year as they are on a hat-trick for 2012.

Tumut – Retain Hooker Tim Graham as Captain-Coach. Lose Matt Chapman and Jock Mason (Retired). Chappy and Jock will probably have a supporting role in the club in 2012.

Young – Retain Luke Eldridge as coach. Lose Tom Coupland, Michael McGee and Peter Curlewis which will hurt them.

Albury has lost Adam Nixon from the front row, but gained some Kiwi influence up front. Not much else has changed from last year. Blake Le Cornu also comes into the backs, creating some competition for positions.
