be chill for now, some things need to be worked out with the aru what stadiums are going to give us a bay as well as well as the amount of people we expect to get involved in each game. Gav and Stu will already be thinking up how to structure this whole thing and the international season doesn't start for months so just keep an ear out for them in the meantime.

Yeah, this is the biggest thing we'll have to work on, trying to get a presence in all states and then having a structure that pleases everyone.

Gav and I are back in Army mode as their membership drive kicks along, and the GAGR blokes are doing some site upgrades, so it'll ebb and flow for a while.

I just scanned this thread....So is the name 'Troup'? :(

I most def would have gone with The Mob :)

... as in, that Green and Gold Mob... aboriginal cousins use mob in every day lingo and it IS VERY AUSTRALIAN and the name for a group of kangaroos/wallabies.

If you want to model the concept of a supporters group may I suggest looking no further at what Wazza did when starting up The Fanatics.
I toured with them many times and they had it totally together. The Fanatics has now morphed into more of a travel agent service since we all grew up.
Also it seemed to spread the love too thin trying to cover every known sport when its home was really tennis and cricket.

Anyway, back to the Rugby supporters group.
Please get me up to speed.
What is the name?
What is the purpose?

I myself am going to Argentina for three Four Nations tests in Sept/October with the final 6th October wallabies clash against the Pumas being the highlight.
The Fanatics are doing a Bledisloe cup tour but nothing organised for the Argie tour yet.
I Would enjoy catching up with fellow GAGR fans as Argentina sure knows how to party rugby style.

The Troup is locked in and confirmed.

The aim or purpose is for there to be a significant presence of passionate supporters together at each Australian game regardless of where it is played in Australia or who against in order to reverse the australian culture of lacklustre support at rugby games. This would include everyone travelling to the one pre game bar/area to build up the pre game atmosphere, Standing together at games with a style of support that rugby deserves and working to make Australian home games have a much more intimidating atmosphere than currently partly by decking anything we interact with in green and gold. As well as this, it would encourage members of the group to get to as many home internationals as possible as these things only get better with travelling support. Eventually we would want enough people across the country familiar enough with the nature of the group to be able to get this thing going without the current 'hardcore' having to set everything up across the nation.

to revise a dead thread, I just finished up a concept logo I was pretty happy with in regards to this group and have sent it off to a couple of people who asked for it from me in private. we may veer away from this initial concept, but it is the one I have come up with after a few good hours spent trying to conceptualise various ideas on the matter, and think it is very suitable, very agreeable, yet aggressive and will also appease to the older hardcore fans as well as younger peeps

OK so the Internationals are on.
Anything actually happening with this idea?
re the logo
I know it is good idea and you have put some work into this and the wallabie logo is a Trade mark but it would take a lot for me to replace my wallabies logo with anything else.

Have you registered? http://bit.ly/aussietroup

To explain the purpose of The Troup, from my perspective for example: The group overall will help facilitate activities for test matches, however it requires a collective of individuals to drive those activities for a particular test.

An email was sent out yesterday regarding Pink Rugby's initiative for Saturday night (Waltzing Matilda) .

How many folk from the original "Troup" are jumping on the "Gold Brigade" bandwagon?

Are there any thoughts about repeating The Gold Brigade at stadiums other than Homebush?

Is this just a big PR stunt orchestrated by FoxTel or has a movement started?
