Can I also add that Marius Jonker could find himself off the panel after 2 blatant knock ons. One leading to a Bulls try and Prior knocking on in goal. How the last was not given is beyond me..

Could also be joined by the assistant referee that allowed the two forward passes to Basson for the first try the second of which was directly in front of him.

I've only seen a few of the Brumbies highlights clips off the Fox Sports website so I can't really comment on the game as a whole... but...

The set piece try which Mogg scored off was a cracker!

Yes The Brumbies 2nd trywas beautiful to watch.

If, before the game someone said the Brumbies would get 2 comp points from the match, then you would definately have been happy with that - but to lose after outscoring the opposition by five tries to two was a bit hard to take.

Some critical moments in the match:

1. 34th minute Brumbies get a penalty about 40 metres out (score is 16-10 to to Bulls, Steyne already kicked four from four, 1st time the Bumbies had been in the Bulls hals for about 15 minutes). Mogg missed the penalty, Bulls not really pressured for the the remainder of the half.

Brumbies turned down the opportunity to kick for the line and pressure the Bulls inside the Bulls 22:(

2. Brumbies did not secure possession from the opening kick off, Bulls kick a penalty shortly after. Brumbies kick off - but it is out on the full, Bulls kick another penalty a few minutes later - six points 'gifted' to the Bulls and Steyne gets into his kicking rhythm: : +6 to the Bulls

3. Bulls score their 2nd try after Steyne dropped the ball - most players thought it was a knock on. If the Ref erred by missing the knock on, then that a somewhat excusable error. But worse was the late call by the Ref, quite a few seconds after it happened came the call 'play on'. The call should have been immediate - to give the Brumbies a chance to deal with the situation:+ 5 (or 7?) to the Bulls:confused:

4. Brumbies miss two sideline conversions for their 1st and 2nd tries. Both looked close: missed out on 2 or 4 points:(

Overall, the Bulls pressure game squeezed points (penalties) all through the game - well done to them.

Brumbies - a great effort, two comp points and so close to a win:)

Hopefully they can follow up the good form of the past 2 weeks with a bonus point win against the Lions...

But with the unpredictable nature of this competition, and playing the Lions in Jo'burg I'll just be happy for a win...

5 Brums tries to 2 Bulls at Loftus. FFS that is by any criteria - comparing Brums 2011 to Brums 2012 - an extraordinary achievement of wonderful proportions, irrespective of losing.

All Aus rugby fans should shout from the rooftops over one of our teams - coming off a near-death experience only a year ago - doing that.

Go you good things. We wish you every success that you look like deserving and gaining more and more of.

Force take note: umm, coaching quality is of supreme importance. In 2011, most comms would have said the going-into-2012 Brums squad was of lower quality than the Force's. Just look now.

Clear knock on IMO, and how unfortunate was Speight! Geez, so close to a win for the Brums, superb effort. Pride. Wonderful confidence builder, just like Reds win over Stormers in SA was for us last year.

I fell asleep at half time, certainly not from lack of excitement! Had played myself earlier and was exhausted. I'm watching the replay now. From the first half I thought the Brumbies were quite amazing, the backline moves that lead to their 1st two tries was so slick and seamless, simply brilliant. At this point I wouldn't lay blame on Christian for his kicking, you could have easily blamed Hooper for giving away that penalty earlier in the 1st half that would have been the difference.

Anyhow I'll get back to watching the replay now and see all the drama of that second half, sounds like there was plenty of that!

I love how Fotu Auelua gave himself an uppercut for making a mistake.

Yeah, that's pretty awful...

The fact that Jonker and his assistants both missed something as obvious as that is appalling, and they should be stood down for a week.

It's not acceptable at this level.

In saying that, the Brumbies shouldn't have played to the whistle... even though the Bulls also stopped. That's how obvious it was!

Just finished watching the replay.

Bulls would have been glad Morne found a bit of his form back. They showed some good play at times but they did not seem to respond to the Brumbies stepping up late in the second half. They did get very lucky with the CJ Stander try that was a knock on from Morne for sure. Huge mistake from the officials. Late in the second half the Bulls were unlucky not to have the ball handed back to them after what I thought was a knock on by a brumbies player in their own in-goal. Aside from that they hung on and had a bit of luck on the way. Someone needs to to get a motivational speaker to the Bulls cheerleaders, no energy whatsoever, its these little 1%er's that count! ;)

For the Brumbies, as unlucky as they were with the Stander try they really only have themselves to blame. They gave away two very stupid penalties in the 1st half, one from Hooper and the other for 'coming in from the side' (forget who it was). Speight also really needed to get that ball down correctly, it was tough I will give him that. The kicking at goal whilst not the only thing that went against the Brumbies was still not the best, x2 conversions and one penalty missed. In total thats a possible 14 points (plus the possible try & conversion) they could have gained and 6 points from the Bulls at least that they could have denied - not including the Brumbies missed droppy. All of that was within the Brumbies own hands and taking that into consideration the Stander try would have had no bearing on the game. Some could argue the Bulls may of had a chance to get on the attack had the Brumbies knock on in-goal had of been given also late in the game - once again this would have been from a Brumbies mistake rather than something constructed from the Bulls.

With all that being said though the Brumbies play right across the park was excellent and I can see why Jake White looked very happy after the game despite the loss (he needs better glasses by the way, was really struggling with them). This game has just solidified even more my view that the Brumbies are the Oz conferences top chance this year. Can't say enough though how much the Bulls should be commended for hanging on though. Great game and plenty of positives for the Brumbies moving forward.

I thought the Brumbies were superb, One thing to note was how good the kicking was from the Bulls. Both from Steyn's goalkicking but also general play kicking, there clearance kicks seemed to get an extra 10+ metres every time and a lot of there tactical kicks put the Brumbies under pressure.

Apart from the kicking, and a few penalties and errors, I thought the Brumbies were equally if not better in every other aspect of the game. The intensity from them was awesome. The score-line at the end showed a fair assessment of how close the game was.

Great game to watch, much better then the boring Rebels Vs Tahs game.

Fotu looking like a superb signing, Mogg is looking the goods also, Lealifano doing some great work too (just needs to cut down on some errors), surely Palmer will be in the wallabies now (Mowen too, hopefully).

As distinct from the Stormers' cheerleaders who could never be described as "little 1%ers":

Can't add much more to the thread other than the fat that the future looks bright for both teams.

Yes it was a knock on, but shit happens all the time.

The young Bulls side will still learn how to shut out a game. A more experienced side would not have allowed the Brumbies back in like that. My young Bulls are a work in progress and still need to develop that edge. But we're doing better than I hoped for pre-season so very happy.

That Mogg try was absolutely brilliant. Such a simple backline move, but it cut the Bulls apart. I think McCabe is starting to suck defenders in more than he used to, which is allowing space on the outside if he can get the ball out. The set piece leading to Mogg crossing is proof.

Having watched the replay gain the Brumbies should have had a player in the bin by the end of the first half. They blatantly slowed the ball down and even though he warned them the ref didn't pull the card out. Fair play to them, you push the boundaries and play the ref. They did it well but on another day they would have been nailed by the ref.

An outstanding effort by the Ponies. Just absolutley brilliant skills execution for three of their tries from first phase. That is what I have been talking about with the Tahs for so very long. It has taken a group of unsung youngsters with no pretentions to do it for Oz Rugby this year. Well done.

It will be very interesting to see how the Bulls do away from the veldt. Their game remains very one dimensional and when executed well it is a good plan but it has massive draw backs when used against a good counter attacking team. I believe that the Crusaders would cut them to pieces on the basis of what I saw yesterday.

I must concur with the previous comments about Jonker. Those two "knocked backwards" calles were a discrace. Unless somebody is facing their own line how can they drop the ball in front of themselves and have the ball ruled as travelling backwards. The ball Speight did knock on over the line should have been ruled a knocked back for consistancy and the scrum feed given to the Brumbies as the Ref stopped play prematurely.

Agree Blue. Have exceeded my expectations of where I thought they would be this far in. That back 3 looks promising and the loosies are abrasive.

I have always thouhgt that you don't mind your team losing if they gave it everything and played well. This was one of those times. That is probably the best thing about the Brumbies season this year - for the first time in many years there hasnt been a single loss where I was unhappy with the player's effort and attitude.

That second try by the Bulls was a disgrace - a referee and two assistants and all of them apparently don't know what a knock on is. It is also true the Brumbies should have played the whistle - but the late call of "play on" after the ball carrier was past the defensive line was terrible.

On the positive side - the Brumbies second try by Mogg was a thing of beauty. I could watch it over and over.

This game added to my belief that the Brumbies have the makings of a great team. The effort and results this year make me think that in 2013 and 2014 we are going to be very hard to beat.
