Allan Ala'alatoa NSW
Allan Faalavaau VIC
Curtis Browning QLD
Maile Ngauamo QLD
Mark Baldwin NSW
Michael Wells NSW
Pettowa Paraka QLD
Sean McMahon QLD
Thomas Cusack ACT
William Miller NSW

These boys all played Australian Schools (except Paraka, who made QLD) in 2011 and are in the 40-man squad for the first training camp for the U20's World Championship later this year. Another 2011 schoolboy, Chris Sautia from BSHS, secured a Reds contract and TSS boy Ulupano Seuteni is in the EPS. Seuteni spent most of last year injured with a broken fibula, and as a result he missed out on Aus Schools selection.

Thanks Swarley, do you think any of these guys are going to play a permanent role in Super XV next season?

I don't think they'd be a permanent fixture, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a few of those QLD boys get some game time. Sean McMahon is currently in the Aus 7's squad first year out of school, so he should come out of that a much more mature and developed player, which is fantastic for both him and Australian rugby in general. Maile Ngauamo made Aus Schools two years in a row and has big raps across the state so I'd keep an eye on him. But with Fainga'a, Hanson and Anae ahead of him (plus other club hookers) he has a long way to come yet.

The biggest names in that lot are Seuteni, Browning and Sautia. It will be very intesting to see how Seuteni develops over the next few seasons with the Reds, he has a massive reputation. But the latter two are the biggest standouts. BSHS boys Sautia and Browning played Aus Schools and Aus Schools 'A' respectively at the age of 15 in 2009. Sautia, a fullback/outside/wing, is the most capped Aus Schoolboy of all time, whilst blindside/lock Browning is the second-most capped, having also captained the team last year. These two have a massive future and if not for his hamstring injury Sautia would likely be in the Reds squad at the moment. He has to compete with Tapuai, Fainga'a, Morahan, Harris etc. for now but he's undoubtedly a future superstar.

I'm sure that I saw Paraka on the paddock for OZ schools against NZ last year. Paraka, Browning, Ngaumo, Sautia and Seuteni have also all played for Qld A this year in the series of games against Samoa, Fiji and Tonga, and I have to say none of them looked out of place, albeit the forwards had pretty short stints off the bench that I saw.

You're right, he did play against NZ. He wasn't named in the original squads though, that's why I got confused.

In other news, 2011 schoolboy Allan Faalavaau made the 12-man Aus 7's squad for Hong Kong last week. Will Miller is in the extended squad, but he didn't make it to Hong Kong Sevens.

Allan Ala'alatoa - a halfback. he must have lsot heaps of weight and gained many yards in pace seeming a she made Oz schools last year as a 1oo+kg prop. I did see Allan Faalavu (sorry for the spelling) in the squad and I gather this is who you mean

Thanks Iluvmyfooty, that was a massive brain explosion on my behalf. I was on the Sevens website as I typed my post, I have no idea how I screwed that up. Yes, I did mean Allan Faalavaau.

Sautia and Roach from NSW are equal on 11 full internationals although Roach made a total of 15 appearances in his two years as starting hooker.

was interesting watching wiil miller in 1st grade for norths on the weekend...he had a blinder

wouldn't say he had a blinder but he did acquit himself very well and wasn't out of place. I keep congratulating him on taking his opportunities. I believe he only played Schools last year due to injuries to Cusak and Dombkins but he tokk his chance had a great game against NZ and hasn,t looked back since

Cannot wait for the return of Chris Feauai Sautia. Should either see him slot straight onto the Reds bench or playing premier rugby at the Souths Magpies in Qld.

Your application to the Lee Grant Absent Minded Society is in the mail. Allan A as a scrummie? I'd like to see that. He'd be good blocking the opposing scrummie if his no.8 took off with the ball the other way from a scrum: it would take a while to run around him to get to the 8. Allan F, incidentally, is a 13 - or at least that's the position he played for Oz Schools v NZ Schools.

It may have even been four years for him to notch so many caps
CFS did it in two years 2009 and 2010, and so did Roach. When the boys get a tour to Europe in their tenure for Oz Schools, plus a Pacific/NZ tour they can rack up a lot of "tests".

CFS was picked in 2011 also but was injured and couldn't play - but he missed out on just two "tests" - that's all they had in 2011.

Beale also racked up a lot of "tests" in two years - 9 of them. Like CFS, he also missed a year with injury and could have racked up more if he had not been crocked training for GPS before the first rep game of 2004.

He was only 15 then, but he was like a force of nature that season and was better than Lucas and reserve Leali'ifano on their best days, though a year younger. Those two were young themselves and would play schools rugby in 2005 also, but when they returned they were displaced by Beale and bench player Cooper.

Did I catch you daydreaming again Lee?

Can't wait till we unearth the next schoolboy superstar in the next few years, bloody kiwi's must enjoy experiencing it annually at their national trials.
