"I suppose I am looking at increasing the talented players' pool at a senior level and, I believe, the U16s (at school level) is the logically age to put the feelers out in an attempt get the dual coders to jump ship."

Whatever. Agree with you about numbers, but the real issue is getting more numbers in the younger age groups. The bigger the Pyramid base the bigger it is at the top.
PS It takes slightly more than a week to skill up a league player . Good luck to the CCC boys

Yes, but the dual coders I spotted were not dunces as far as union goes. Minor errors like flicking the ball back one handed instead of going to ground and awaiting the next phase to occurred can be sorted out by a word from the coach and simulation of this at training. There were no major issues with any of the dual coders I noticed.

I'd like to think the refined technical skills my son has learn't over his 7 years rugby career, Whatever would take more than a week to acquire, through some good hard Rugby yards..

Full agree with forward play, a great deal harder for a leaguie forward to convert to the techiques and skills of the rugby forward. I believe, it is a little easier for the backs to swap between the 2 games.

..snip....

The program cost 500.00 just to get the boys on the field plus travel and time. An enjoyable but expensive exercise for what purpose I ask as a rugby Mum. .........

Crikey. I think that that price would discourage a few of the families that are doing it tough. Is that just for the CCC U16 programme from selection to the Knox weekend?

Around our patch the mungoball clubs lay everything on for $0. Tough for rugby to compete, attract and keep the duelies in heavensgame, esp those not fiscally well endowed.

He he he. Don't think so. I think teams were selected some time ago.

What has happened in the last 48 hours is that the 1996 Rugby Bloodstock Auction has been completed, and the buyers are more or less happy with the results of the auction:).

Does that mean we now have a NSW Schools team and NSW City Team, leaving the NSW Country team intact... HJ and when will we know.

I have no idea. The announcer at Knox said it would take a couple of weeks.

In due course the lists will be up. I can wait.

I am doing Dry July. I have got 3 1/2 weeks to wait for that to end.

What's a couple of hours or days waiting for a finalised teams to be posted?

HJ,

Please have some concern for a rugby mum. Don't worry Jakob will make it.

The Rugby Mum's get a fair bit of Heavensgame then.

Best advice is to keep your eye on these threads, and the "Biased Selections" thread.

The textosphere will soon be ablaze with messages once the team is out, and facebook will also be a good source.

Unless you are off into the middle of the Simpson Desert, the younger Rugby Mums will find out pretty quickly.

Nah he is out of the contest - NSW Country exempted. You can take the boy out of the country but you cant take the country out of the boy. He's Captain of the 16's going to Nationals - he is living his dream..

That's what I meant, definite for country. Congratulations to Jakob, what a mighty privilege to captain NSW country at the nationals. I would suggest there is one proud mum (and dad). Well done mate.;)

But being the rugby mum to many kids would like to spot some names in the school side, that pulled out of country for the schools pathway. Tis is where my Catholic Faith will have to kick in.

Are they not still eligible for country if not required by schools?

Nah they pulled out earlier in the program Country demands 100 percent attendance and is quiet pricey from yah to nay. I think this young kid was told he'd be a shoe in in the schools. Whether he plays this year or not he will make it in rugby. very talented and the ARU have their eye on him. It would be a shame if he were not at nationals.

Country select their team at the end of April. Hence they are off to Gold Coast at TSS for a tournament.

If i'm not mistaken CCC got it usual quota of players into Schools - the big fat donut:confused:.

A few were named in country, but that side was selected before the school trials.

I can even accept players being selected who didn't play the state titles due to being in the opens trials, but a 15 year old being selected from a zone side - shows what a mockery the selection process is.

Oh well as they say, history will continue to repeat itself if you do not learn from your past mistakes.

I reckon the selectors must have been cringing when the CCC side served it up to the GPS at the school titles:)
