Please post discussion of the teams, and the games themselves, in this thread.

Would Gaggerlanders post the teams when announced, and if possible list 1 to 15 and reserves, but if this is not known at the squad will do.

hey HJ r u aable to help An under 16 S team play a tournament and are placed in an Under 18 S draw does each player need to be signed off under the 2 year window by level 2 coach as well as their parent consent ?Any correct inflation is appreciated Concerned RugbyMum

Try the web page below. Everything is explained there. Generally Parents need to be supplied with the policy and need to individually sign off consent. Special provisions apply for front rows. If I read the boards correctly you are already up in Gold Coast at tournament with the team. You may have to get the emails, faxes and scanners working overtime tonight. Good luck.

& Mum - if that makes sense I need to understand the beginnings of the universe. Good luck to the young 'un and his mates MOTH

PS - seems strange to make the 16s play up - unless that was always a condition - and the other teams are not representative teams.

Mr Rivers has a Sydney team made up of Mosman, Gordon and Eastwood +some, the cream of the State championships. What is interesting is what Mr Gill and schools were able to remove from those teams.H Fotokuva, B Freeman, J Kane, A Crichton, J Lough, H Emery, H Summerhayes. Not saying they are any better than others but you'd be crying yourself to sleep for a night or two to get over it.
Vote of confidence in Big Jack Bowditch. Hope he's fit.
One of the youngens is way out of left field and if he gets a run I hope he does well and isn't monstered by some big forwards. Should be a good battle.

A good news story from Dubbo:
http://www.dailyliberal.com.au/stor...onnor-returns-to-country-after-injury/?cs=122

ROOS ON THE RISE: O’Connor returns to Country after injury

DUBBO Kangaroos junior Billy-Jacob O’Connor will hope to put some injury issues behind him when he lines up for NSW Country under-16s later in the year.

O’Connor, a hooker/number 8, was one of three players selected from the Roos to be part of the squad which faces City at Bathurst on August 5 before heading to the National Championships.

Fellow Roos juniors Kurtis Crisante and Rohan Kopp will also be part of the squad, which brings together the best players from regional areas.

After representing Country in the under-14s age division in 2010, O’Connor missed out in 2011 after dislocating his knee at selection trials and undergoing surgery.
A further dislocation and a medial ligament tear later and he finds himself back in the squad after receiving a late call-up.
“I missed the initial selection because I got injured at the state championships but I got a late call-up which is good,” O’Connor, a student at Kinross Wolaroi School, said.
“All the injuries were disappointing after making the Country side a couple of years ago, so I am just happy to be back and I’ve done a lot of work to make sure the knee is as strong as I can get it.”

Crisante, also a Roos junior and student at Kinross, has made an interesting transition in 2012 shifting from the backline into the forward pack.
In fact he has gone from the wing to the front row and must arguably be the fastest prop in junior rugby.
“It’s a fair bit different when you get to this level,” Crisante said.
“I wouldn’t say the game is much harder but the boys that you play with and against probably put a lot more work into their rugby.
“They do a lot of gym work which means they are probably a bit stronger for longer but the standard isn’t a whole heap different.
“I’m looking forward to getting into the front row at this level and seeing what it is like. I reckon it will be a fair bit rougher than out on the wing.”

For Kopp, the upcoming matches will mark his debut at Country level.
The Peak Hill Central School student, who plays flanker, admitted he was looking forward to the representative program but added he was also keen to see what things he could bring back to his club rugby. “I’ve never played footy at this standard before and I think the good thing will be learning a few things to make myself a better player,” he said.
“I’ll get a few things from the training and playing that I can use when I play my club football as well.”

The ARU Web Site http://www.rugby.com.au/tryrugby/PathwaytoGold/NationalU16Championships.aspx
tells us the following:

The National U16s Championships provides the first taste of open national level competition and state/territory representation for our best U16 year old players in Australia. The assembly of the best U16 year old players in the country provides an important performance benchmarking platform for players, coaches and professional high performance staff.

The Championships are conducted by the ARU in late September/October each year in either Sydney or Brisbane. The Championships schedule includes an intensive match schedule as well as important off field education for players, coaches, managers, medical staff and referees ensuring the week is a quality introduction to the levels of performance and development required to play, coach, manage and referee at the highest levels.

The purpose the Championships is to provide an effective quality platform for:

a) the selection and development of each state/territories talented young players, coaches, managers, referees and other officials;
b) the recruitment and retention of players, coaches, referees, managers and other officials;
c) the benchmarking of talented U16 players;
d) assisting with the improvement of playing standards and development of the game in all participating states/territories.

Teams competing at the National U16s Championships are:

Division 1
ACT, NSW1, NSW2, QLD1, QLD2, WA, VIC

Division 2
SA, NT, TAS, National Indigenous

Each state and territory team has a process for selection that includes club and school level, affiliate and association and regional and state representative trial programs.

The Championships crown a national champion team at Division 1 and Division 2 level as well as recognizing outstanding player contributions to team performance (‘Best Team Man’). Many players from these Championships will graduate to higher level development and representative programs.

****************
There appears to be an obvious error in the Div 1 team listing in that there will be three teams representing NSW at the Championships, Schools, Country and Sydney Juniors, not NSW 1 and NSW2. A 7 team Division 1 competition also does not seem to make any sense.

Anyhow, I am looking for information to put together a couple of blog posts on the champs.
I am looking for Gaggerlanders outside NSW who can provide me with background info in the various state teams and the Indigenous selections. When are the trials being held, when will teams be finalised, what trials have been played, and what are planned etc. Send me a PM with any contribution you want to make, or post relevant info here and I will pick it up for the blog.

Big day of Rugby... Under 16 s City won 25 to 7. I hear City one all games unsure of all scores other than 14 s City 36 to 7.
Woodrat was there so may be able to update. Contrast also to mini Woodrat on making the NSW 15s side.
