CCC Rep team may not have scored too many representatives in NSW Schools, but they have plenty of representatives through the NSW Country and Sydney Juniors pathway.

While not specifically what I was on about with my diatribe in the state championships thread, it does indeed prove my argument – if a player is good enough, there are multiple paths to the top! A bit like the old sideshow spruik - a prize for every child!

we r running out of extra s as Country stick by there rules u must play in the Country Champs to be selected and you must perform on the day. Reputation doesn't have as .much bearing as ability and performance.

Mum - Captain Smith of the Titanic was on course - adapt or perish - MOTH

whatever

As I said before if NSW schools needed a McCabe type centre and I'm sure they will need someone to play such a role if they are to be successful against Qld then Topiese was the lad. Pity

Still doesn't answer the question: why are CCC players continuely ignored for NSW schools? Except if the answer is, selector bias.

Take a look at the National U16 2012 thread.

Our mate George has reconciled all 3 teams with the Schools attended and association.

I agree Jarse, however IMO there were two lads who I thought may have gotten a start in the NSWSRU team as they were not eligible for the other two teams.

Im sad Mate as it solidifies the perception in the CCC system that their boys will never be looked upon favourably in school rugby!

Personally I was never able to play rugby until I had virtually left school as league was well entrenched (and still is). However every lad who I have ever spoken to that has played their first game of rugby has absolutely enjoyed the experience and wishes there was more opportunities! A matter to be taken up with the NSWRU and ARU TBH.

With that said Chris Hicks of NSWCCC rugby has acheived marvellous results within the CCC system, however there are not enough passionate people like him unfortunately!

I know Chris has taken the MCS group of schools from no school rugby competition, to a 7s comp, to a full blown 15s comp for the U14s and U16s age groups run in the 3rd term over the last 5-6 years.

Abandon ship! Women and children first; I believe this is you mum! ;)

Me believes a retort will soon hit of the port side!:)
No I must say Country do ok in their procedures. Of course everywhere gets accused of nepotism but their selection process is solid and fair. Nothing is a given which makes the boys keep on top of their fitness and skills and improving their game.

The way it should be, but, all selection processes need to be transparent, fair & FLEXIBLE.

When it is all said, the boys themselves know who should be in any squad and frankly - in my experience - they would rather be in a full strength squad, than a half baked one that appealled to the sensibilities of the parents. And again in my experience - so often it is the parent of a fringe player who is unrealistic about the capabailities of their "little Johnny" who moans the loudest about any selection anomolies.

That said, if a player is injured and can not particiapte fully in the qualifying process, when abouts will the player be able to contribute properly anyway and what detriment to team cohesion occurs by having him not particapte fully in preparation for a major tournament - no "I" in team!

Very wise words MOTH. Very wise indeed.

Perhaps we need to adopt the old schoolyard team picking technique of appointing two captains and then letting the boys fill the slots one by one with alternating picks. :)

Parents with unrealistic expectations are the worst to deal with. They generally have no idea about what the requirements of Little Oscar's preferred position is, and it is never Oscar's fault when things go wrong.

You know - there would be some who would whinge that your suggestion would be too fair or that they now had nothing to whinge about - :)

No I or parent...Agree if injured these boys r 16 not in the super 15. Let them heal properly and re enter gradually. This is only the beginning and In reality only about one percent of these kids will go on to be a Wallaby ...Too much emphasis placed on the elete and not.on building skills. and building the rugby community further Parents unrealistic expectations destroy it for the average good players. Some of these kids just want to see how far they'll go make lifelong mates and have fun. its not about the parents living their dreams. While I love watching my son play he loves going hard improving his game, and all his mates he has made. He takes it seriously. Goes to the gym eats well looks after.his body. What more does a Mum want other than a healthy happy teenager....

Too funny. Not me. I bought a camera to take pictures of the games -covers my mouth well...lol

Is that the secret? I'm off to Camera House to get one of those for La Jarse.

Does the camera covering the mouth work around the house as well?

whatever
