After watching Team Sky control the tour over the past few weeks, mainly due to alot of work from a few Australians, I began to wonder what GreenEdge could be like if we had all Australians in the team.

This would include
Evans, Porte, Rogers, Gerrans, O'Grady, Renshaw, Lancaster, Goss and Cooke.

I seriously think that team would be very strong, especially in the sprint with Renshaw leading out Goss.

Given it is our first year, how do people see our chances of brining other Australians over to GreenEdge?

I agree. It would be very strong indeed. I did note the comments on the telecast last night about Porte, Rogers et al riding against Evans and how ironic it was.

Would be a great team with a great shot at Yellow and Green.

Though Goss could be leading out Renshaw...

I had big hopes for Renshaw this year, as I honestly think he was always a better sprinter then Cavendish. His team has been struggling to get him in the right position, barley heard mention of him.

Rumour has it that Renshaw will be back as Cav's leadout man next year. Renshaw doesn't have the kick to compete with the top sprinters.

Evans will likely never go to GreenEdge as he will probably finish his career at BMC. He's already 35, and there was also a rumour that Evans will look at retiring at the end of 2013.

Would love to see GreenEdge get a GC man who can compete in stage races and a GT (even if it's just for a podium in the Veulta, but would love to see them try to, say, contest the Giro). GreenEdge are a little one dimensional, and would benefit from a few all rounders/climbers more than Albasini, Gerrans and Weening. Really, those three are more hilly guys than high mountain guys.

Not sure on who GreenEdge could get. They hope that, from their current riders, Cam Meyer will develop into a GC threat.

Not sold on Porte as yet. This is the first year he has looked super human and I am surprised by his level this year. Porte won the white jersey in the Giro and finished top 10, but made 14 minutes of that time from a breakaway. As a domestique for Contador Porte did nothing - he was more than disappointing.

Rogers was the other mentioned, but he's also well on the wrong side of 30.

Sadly, Australia doesn't have much in the way of developing GC riders currently.

Bobridge and Durbridge are young TT guys with big futures, and Hepburn is promising too. Would like to see how GreenEdge intent to develop those guys - e.g. will they develop into cobbled classic type riders for instance?

That's a big call mate, Cavendish has shown his strength in this tour, winning stages without any lead out train whatsoever. Not undermining Renshaw's ability, but you are comparing him with the best sprinter in the world.

That was just going on Renshaws performances last year, where he was outstanding. As I said though, he has been disapointing this year.

If you haven't seen the GreenEDGE Backstage Pass for Simon Gerrans victory at the Milan San Remo, you need to check it out.

The reactions are amazing.

If anyone doubts the sense of "Team" in a cycling team, watch that. To see the level of excitement by everyone, for everyone, is great.
