Sharks defence has been outstanding. Reds have had ALL the ball this 2nd half, but credit to the Sharks - they are deserved winners.

Coach McKenzie should be proud though - has a title under his belt from last year and has done a magnificent job In 2012 with an injury-ridden team.

Fuck this, I'm turning it off and logging out. Just a shitty way for the Reds to have their season end. Sandbagged by SANZAR, fucked over by the TMO and then screwed by a Ref who left his cards and his balls, along with his integrity, in the change room.

Yeah, its all a conspiracy..... Sharks were just much better.

Genia questions the TMO decision on Gill's try. Have to agree on that one too.

Sharks definitely deserved to get a yellow card earlier than the last minute, but they also deserved to win the game.

Thought it was a strange question for Kaplan to ask the TMO, maybe Kaplan thought there was a double movement? From what I saw on the replays I thought that would have been given if the question was Try or No Try.

Not a Reds fan, or an aussie, but that as to be one of the worst refereeing shambles ive ever seen. Aside from missing off side all game,
-he never gave a yellow when he should have, a fair few times in the game, to the sharks on their own line.
-he never said to the TMO- the man is over the line, i just need to know if the grounding is ok
- and worst of all for me, a couple of times he STOPPED play and killed momentum for the sharks when he should have played advantage. He brought them back, and allowed the Sharks to reset countlss times, while he gave the sharks a 'talking to' . Twice, in the last 20 minutes, he awarded the Reds a pen, and then stopped play instead of letting them quick tap, clock still ticking, and didnt award a yellow.
He's about as corrupt-looking as they come. Surely someone in authority is watching this and asking the same questions?

Undoubtedly biased, and massively affected the game result. Disgusting

Sharks were definitely better. One of those nights were not much goes right for the Reds, with an injury to the fly half and no back, dropped balls, missed tackles and no luck from the ref and TMO.

As Genia said, when you are on the front foot everything seems to go your way - bounce of the ball, ref decisions, and so on. And the Sharks were on the front foot the whole game. Even when the Reds had all that possession 5m out you felt that the Sharks were not too pressed most of the time.

Sharks deserved the win. Played better than I thought they would.

And now I'm slowly backing out of this thread. Have a feeling it may get ugly.

That is officially the most consistent 80 minutes of poor officiating I have seen at this level. What was worse?
Binning some one at 80 minutes?
Or
Not awarding Gill's try when it was crystal clear.
Shocker.

great win WD Sharks!!!
At least it was a convinining enough win that no one in there right mind can blame the loss on the ref. Even the why no yellow with 17 up and 15min to go was very borderline to say the least.

Ugly won't even begin to describe it.

I always think it is poor form for the captain to criticise the ref in his after match comments. Just gotta take it. Genia stocks went down for me there. The reality is that the Sharks were the far superior team in every facet of the game and were very deserving winners.

Kaplan not giving a card earlier was strange, but at the end of the day Kaplan was also stingy with the cards in the game against the Highlanders which benefitted the Reds. Can't have it both ways.

Yeah how the Sharks have avoided a player in the bin I will never know. That's several warnings on their line now.

Well it is Jonathan Kaplan isn't it? He does have form, remember the game two weeks ago? Although that time all the penalties were wrong and pedantic weren't they.

Well done Reds, you did well to fight back this season. Just beaten by a better (more resilient) side on the day.

I totally agree, you usually go around that by just saying "we might have been a bit unlucky here and there but all credit to the opponent blabla" or something in the like. It's not soccer.

What was Link thinking?? Genia to 10 after you tried that in the same fucking game earlier in the season and it failed miserably? Why did you start Saia Fainga'a who is just terrible, a really dumb rugby player - he should've been hooked much earlier.

Genia please don't try to play 10 ever again, you're terrible at it. If you're going to do a cross field kick have the player run onto it! The Sharks were defending by having the second last lateral defender rushing up to shut down the attack. Exploit this it ain't hard, they did the same thing all night yet we never saw a wrap around once. Massive credit to the Sharks tactics here which were very well executed. Very poor post-match comments by Genia.

Am I the only one who knows the laws here? Clarkie, Horan and Kafe should take a look at them. Gill's "try" should've been a penalty to the Sharks yet no one picked up on it. You must be on your feet to play the balll, Gill was never on his feet, he picked the ball up in the middle on the ruck. Clearly no try

The crowd was disgraceful, booing Kaplan after every decision went against them and then even at the end of the game as if it was him that cost them the game... never mind the try he let you have at the end. Oh and Tim Horan should never commentate again, worst performance by a commentator ever.

Replay of the Gill no try.

Digby tackle, Bismarck all over him with a knee on the ground for a blatant penalty, Digby holds on. Should've been blown up there. Bismarck drags Digby forward a bit and Gill rips it and dives over, no question on that part.

How the Reds get a 5m scrum from any of that is weird.
