The MONT 24 hour bike race is the largest of it's type in Australia. The 2012 event was held at East Kowen Forest near Canberra. This is a collection of time lapse footage taken between the hours of 10pm and 3am.

My Dad does this every year (and most of the other enduro races).

I've been down there a couple of times to help them out. It's a pretty awesome event.

It's amazing seeing the throng of activity at 3am. It just never stops.

He normally does these things in either teams of 4 or 6. Mostly a team of 4.

They normally just do one lap each although during the middle of the night the strongest couple on the team might do a two lap stint so people can sleep for longer.

Sometimes he is in a mixed team but mostly it is a mens team. They've won or placed in a lot of the enduro races in their category over the last half a dozen years.

He's never done any of them solo. The only solo MTB race he really does is the Half Highland Fling where he has won the Super Masters a couple of times.

I am hoping when I am 50+ some sort of gene kicks in and I get the fitness bug that he has. I sure don't have it now...

The Mont race has laps which the elite guys do in around an hour.

I think they're about 20km. For instance, last year the team of four that won did 27 laps in 24h 28m.

I can probably organise one. Brother in law has the same one as me, but he never uses his. It's as good as done.
