For the record, all these Grammar posters who are saying they are the best school boy team in Australia and who are victimising Light for not predicting you to win it (and rightly so), you need to realise that you go to Grammar. You have been the laughing stock of the GPS for years and need to remember that this is the first time you have won outright in 40 years. I am not being biased but Nudgee have won the cup 39 times and we have never been as arrogant as some BGS posters on here. Congratulations on winning something and savour it becuase i dont think you will win again in a very long time.
I think 'The King' was joking when he said Grammar is the best ever schoolboy team- or at least I hope he was. There is no denying though, they were the best team this season, proving those who scrutinized them before the season wrong.

If I had to choose backlines based on this season it would be:
9. Quigley (ACGS) / Dyring (BBC)
10. Greene (BGS) / James (NC)
11. Nathan (TSS) / Ioane (ACGS)
12. Tuttle (NC) / Dalgleish (GT)
13. Birch (BGS) / Drew (TGS)
14. Tenaknai (NC) / Marsden (BGS)
15. Placid (TGS) / ???

Lakehm Aiono played admirably in the last 4 games after he returned from injury and hit form.

Mate you might have a point, and I am not for or against either school, but to say "I am not being biased but Nudgee have won the cup 39 times and we have never been as arrogant as some BGS posters", genuinely made me laugh. Not only is that the pure definition of bias, but I might just add that Nudgee isn't the most humble school, especially after seeing them lose to TSS this year and some of their actions afterwards.

I wasnt using it in a biased way i was saying that most others schools, definately including TSS, have a lot more to be arrogant about. I agree Nudgee definatley is not the most humble school, far from it. I was not at the TSS game but i am guessing that Nudgee would not have taken it well as always with a loss. However while i was at NC no one i knew would have gone to the lengths of some of these grammar posters though

Yeah before you get 20 BGS posters on your back, I will just say that they have had a good year.

I believe they have won the premiership in Volleyball (which not all schools play), Tennis, Chess, Rugby and Gymnastics. An impressive sporting year by any school's standards.

BGS 6. Michael Gilbert

Jayden Rodwell and Dylan Sikimeti packed down in those positions, but were wearing the opposite jerseys (6 and 8 respectively). Also, shouldn't Jack Tuttle and Maclean Jones be swapped around?

Sorry, my bad. You are spot on. I will correct my mistake.
Thanks

You have been the laughing stock of the GPS for years and need to remember that this is the first time you have won outright in 40 years.

For starters, one poster jokingly referred to BGS as the best schoolboy team in history. As for this year, who's to say they aren't the best schoolboy team in the nation this year? They just won GPS QLD so they wouldn't be too far off.

Secondly, any criticism of Light is not at all because he didn't tip a BGS competition victory- I didn't even tip a BGS premiership, nor did a large proportion of Grammar posters. I can tell you right now that the constant dismissal of BGS as a genuine competition threat in conjunction with the excessive promotion of a seemingly unbeatable Churchie side is the motivation for these comments. Staying completely away from any personal opinions or biases, the criticism stems from his brash pre-season statements and his constant refusal to acknowledge the true potential of the BGS line-up- even after the opening few rounds of the comp.

And finally, calling BGS the laughing stock of the GPS is pretty unjustified. We've had some truly shocking rugby results over the years but 10 consecutive Volleyball premierships (which all schools play, as far as I'm aware), consistently high placings in Track & Field and Swimming, and overwhelming historical dominance in Gymnastics (reigning premiers), Tennis (reigning premiers) and debating (QDU State Champions) would suggest we're far from a laughing stock- especially if you factor in academic results, but lets leave it at that.

So the Churchie backs get 4 well worked tries through the BSHS backs, scything through at greater will as the game progressed. So what does the BSHS coach do in the 2nd half? ... he replaces 3 forwards, that were his big yardage makers. As you do. Bizarre ... and thats where it ended for another year of GPS.

Congrats BGS and SamoanNo8. Faafetai-manaia tele le mea ai ta'alo sa matou fiafia I lena.

they will be on the front page probably in the morning.
Armatt, where was the round 8 highlights video? Will you upload one eventually?
Also when can I expect any new footage to be posted? ill assume something will be up early morning or later tonight...

Will be interesting to see which of these blokes will make something more of their short rugby careers.

Surely Greene , Tuttle , Dalgleish etc will have teams sniffing around

Round 8 video couldn't happen sorry. Between doing the bits and pieces that the schools require, some other paid work and a lot of uni assessment, I just ran out of hours in the day and week. Sorry.

These are SCHOOLS we're talking about right. How do they rank on OP's, % University placements and average earnings/achievement levels at 10 and 20 year post graduation intervals?

How are the schools setting them up for LIFE achievement? As a TSS old boy with 2 young boys moving through to probably attending one of these schools within the next 5 years I can tell you that the obsessive and often ugly sports culture that persists in Qld GPS schools and the way it is used as yardstick for school quality and prestige makes me more wary of the schools that bang on about these achievements than anything.

And a lot of the comments on here from
Kids that are clearly current or recently ex- students of these schools is enlightening. When I look for good examples of good parenting to guide my own efforts as a father I don't look at the parents and what they say or do until I've looked at their kids and decided if it looks like its working. Same with Schools.

Some crappy examples of making the "complete man" in this thread. One can only hope they aren't typical.

I heard there was stuff about being bullied because of his mum too?

This woman has her own Success Kid Meme "Went to bgs rugby, Saw Sam Greene's Mum". Can't be easy on a kid. I'd cut him some slack based on that alone. To use it as a chant from the crowd is atrocious.

It is hard to predict the strong teams for next year, however in my opinion
the strong teams will be
Nudgee -strong u16 age group + will wont to win next year after yesterdays loss so will be a few new faces i presume
TSS- Premiers in u16
BBC- Junior, Conrad Quick to name a few, if they go through without a serious injury they are my tip to win. (I beleive they would have come vary close to winning if not actually winning if they had no injuries)
Terrace- Strong representation in the firsts this year + have done some heavy recruiting in u14-u16. ( This is not just something i have heard, 2 of the new players brothers play in my younger brothers team and their mothers told us a few weeks back)
Churchie- Will no doubt want to make up for their disaster season + have the likes of Nigel and grade 11 flanker (not sure of name) and will do some further recruiting.

Middle
BSHS- Strong u16 age group however will be hard to rebound from this years season in the space of a year but maybe in 2 or 3 (look at BGS for example)
TGS- Relativly strong u16 + expect to do some recruiting

Lower
IGS- Have not heard much but apparently not a very strong u16 or u15 age group
BGS- relatively strong u16 from what i have heard however a weak u15 this year
IGS 16's are weak but have a very stong 15's team with multiple boys getting selected for met west at the under 15 state champs a shorncliffe this year. Also the 15s had a good season tieing for 2nd spot with Nudgee. Lost to the underfeated Churchie last weekend by 1 point on the bell.

What about #12 Tela from IGS and #9 Chambers ?

BGS- relatively strong u16 from what i have heard however a weak u15 this year

BGS have actually got quite a strong under 15 age group but have just had a lot of unlucky injuries. A few star players like Eddie McCorley, Nyoah Rosiman and Tom Rutherford-Taura and James Hill were out getting shoulder reconstructions and other injuries. These players and other players were in the first XV training squad before the season (Paddy Dooley and Harry Egan). While some might predict a BGS flop next year, I think they have the depth to stay at least in the top three.

Tom Rutherford Taura only played about 4 games for the 15A's and he will definitly not make 1st 15, he played B's for alot of the season and sure he was a great B's player but no where near the skill level of 1st 15

I heard he battled injury for most of the season

I know. I didn't count the Downlands game as a firsts game as BGS played a second strength team. From how he has played in the 16's, he has shown some great speed but IMO he really needs space to run - fullback next year?. Look forward to seeing him play more next year.
i think Marsden will play Fullback and Dan Forsthy at Wing along with Trey Kemp, although its not an overally sizey back three, it has real speed and agility

With Laud at Outside Center? I would assume that they (Emtage and Gardner) would keep him at wing after his astounding game on Saturday and his constant runs down the sideline. Also their are rumors of Aiono repeating on his scholarship.
