Ben Laxon (QLD White) is a stud. As is Toby McNamee (QLD Red), excellent around the breakdown. Daniel Sitanilei (QLD Red) is an excellent ball carrier.

For NSW schools look out for loosies Angus Crichton and Johnnie Walker, agree with Sydneybrah these two should star. For Sydney the two Shore 1st XV stars, five eight Jack Clancy and flanker Jum Woodhill are the ones to look for.

Keep an eye out for 15 year old winger Henry Hutchison, the NSW Schools 14. Hearing great raps on this young bloke and his Riverview partner Jack Mcgregor. Both will be back for next years tournament

Hey Braless, who are the 4 boys out from the Schools team?
I thought it was Ballentyne, Fotukava, Hutchison and another? But I am confused as you say both the Yr9 boys from View are playing. Can you confirm who the 4 are?

George I must have been at another game, in my memory the NSW boys beat Qland through the forwards convincingly (tight and Loose) and were outplayed in the backs when the NSW coaches played the wingers in the centres allowing the Qland backs to run wild whenever they got the ball

Of the Qld backs only Trey Hodges looked dangerous. The game in the end was unimpressive with many errors and no one really stood out. The game fizzled out after 10 minutes into the second half with the score 17-5 (3 tries to 1).

What a real disappointment for the Qld guys that Trey Hodges has torn his ACL and will miss the Champs.

What is the current hypothesis for appointing your captain?

Traditional options would be your best player (who leads from the front) or a reasoned and wise head (who makes the right calls in the heat of battle) or the guy who has a great rapport with refs. The Waratahs at the start of this season couldn't work this out so had a leadership group who all failed in more ways than one.

However, in recent times, the Kiwi model (with Richie McCaw) seems to be in vogue. That is, have the guy who will be most likely all over the park and who will be perpetually off side and guilty of all sorts of sins as your captain. That way the ref will give him the benefit of the doubt or just too scared to use a card on him allowing your player/captain to be effective for a greater period of time!

Am I being cynical or what? Who will be the captains of the respective teams in these champs?

There is force in your analysis but in my experience of junior rugby the refs feel a lot more empowered and dont really hesitate to penalise/bin the captain.
My view is you select the most astute tactical brain as the captain. The astuteness often provides the pecking order in that no one questions his tactical judgment and so all follow him. An interesting insight into (and arguably against my view) was that debacle of the Brumbies v Reds when Giteau wanted to rub salt in the wounds by taking the penalty after the bell and Moore tried to talk him out of it - of course by that stage Gitts had spent a lot of his credibility.

On an entirely practical level: are there any restrictions on members of the public (i.e. me) taking photos of these games and, say, posting them up here?
Copyright?
Accreditation?
Privacy?

Not sure about photographs. If the kid is recognisable ie not part of a large group, then it is always good to ask him, the parents if around, or the Team Manager (the Team Manager will be acting in loci parentis) if they have any objections.

They ARU have very tight restrictions on Players agents and talent scouts talking to the kids. There is an accreditation process and you can bet your bottom dollar that the Accredited Agents will be watching like hawks for any non-accredited types engaging with the kids. The tournament will be open to all to watch, even the dreaded "non-accredited" agents. They are just not allowed to approach the kids.

As long as you look like a "General Public" you should be OK.

Inside Shoulder, I note a couple of posts back that Uncle Lee was looking for Match Reporters. Sounds like you may have volunteered yourself.:)

Thanks for the responses, I believe the 4th is Tongan prop from New; Vuniploa Fifita. This is a shame as this lad would have really benefited from this tournament as it may have tightened up his game and given him purpose around the paddock. He showed some good glimpses of his potential at NSW Schools trials and again later in the season for New.

That makes those out of the Schools teams now being Hosea, David, Vuniploa and 1 more ???

In my experience it is always best to get the "approvals" tucked away before the event. Suggest you email Steve Frost, the Championship Director on steve.frost@rugby.com.au

good luck as some photos would be great.
