How long will Higgers get for his head-but on McCaw?
It was incredibly stupid and even though it wouldn't have physically hurt McCaw, the intent is their..

Applying the SANZAR random number generator, the Etzebeh Coefficient, the GOAT Factor and planetary alignment, I would guess 4 weeks, due to a previously pretty clean record. But it might be 2 or 6.
I could not believe he did it - it looked so deliberate that he blundered into McCaw's head then carried on.
Just stupid stuff.

i swear Higgers must have directed to get aggressive for this match, their were a couple of moments throughout the match which borderlined controlled aggression/yellow card

It was a bit if a Quade move though.

Don't engage in the off the ball stuff if you can't back it up on the field, where it matters.

Kieran Read is a shining example of class and physicality.

In terms of standardised guidance for Illegal and/or Foul Play and Misconduct, IRB Regulation 17 applies, and is used by nearly all judiciaries to assist to determine sanctions for citings.

Judiciary Entry Point Based on Scale of Seriousness of the Player’s conduct, which constitutes the offending.

Law No 10.4(a) Striking with knee
Lower End 3 weeks, Mid Range 8 weeks, Top End 12+ weeks, Maximum Sanction 52 weeks

Law No 10.4(a) Striking with head
Lower End 4 weeks, Mid Range 8 weeks, Top End 12+ weeks, Maximum Sanction 104 weeks

Greyling's elbow to the head was much more brutal than what higgers did. he effectively was suspended for one game.

It is certainly no coincidence that its mccaw that always ends up causing players to lose their cool.

At least it was a forward picking him this time.
Stupid as it was its good that we're not in awe of him.

I'm struggling to see how McCaw incited Higgers to walk into his head with the knee then headbutt him. We had the penalty, the ref had dealt with things. Honestly, if it bothers the players that he's on the wrong side, move him legally by cleaning out. This stuff never works out well for us, that I can see.

In my opinion the knee looked pretty accidental and like it resulted from the fact there were bodies everywhere.

The headbutt on the other hand was stupid but it looked more like a misdirected effort to lay down an marker and prove a point than an effort to physically harm Richie.

It was more trolling than anything. Still, pretty fucking stupid as there's all kinds of ways to muscle up in rugby and a headbutt has all kinds of negative cogitations. He'll get a fair few weeks, we mightn't see him on the Spring tour.

On another note isn't there an unwritten rule about what happens on the field stays on the field? Richie is certainly willing to comment on all the injustices he suffers at the hands of the opposition nowadays. There's already quotes about the Higgers incident, he's talked in spades about the Quade stuff, and obviously has chatted about the French in the WC final.

For a classy man Richie certainly likes very unclassily deploying the rugby media against people. It's not becoming of a man who otherwise seems very humble and is obviously the preeminent player in his position. You think David Pocock, for example, hasn't been targeted by teams in a similar way?

I certainly agree it was pure stupidity from Higgers. Nevertheless, the fact that it is consistently mccaw at the root of these incidents shows his ability to get under the skin of teams. He is the master of getting away with murder at the ruck. credit to Jobert who did attempt to snuff him out.

I take part of my rant back, the knee was clearly deliberate but I still stand by the fact it was simply stupid and more about riling him up then actually harming him.

Still, suspension and a yellow were warranted.

I'm sorry but if this bloke wants to continue to fall on the wrong side and the ref doesn't yellow card him then players are going to get frustrated and take the law into their own hands. The only way rugby is going to improve is for rucking to come back. It lets players 'get' the players who are cheating ,legitimately. Richie would do it the times then would have about five broken fingers and no skin left on his back. On a side note Richie and it seems the All Blacks can't handle it when we touch him up and it does upset his game. We need more of it just a little bit cleaner and not so evident Higgers!!

Judging by ABC Grandstand he's only been charged with the head butt.

Up until maybe a year ago he didn't comment. How many times can you be given a cheap shot before it just becomes plain annoying though. Higginbotham, Greyling, Rougerie, Cooper, Rossouw, Hartley, Heaslip, Powell.. list goes on.

Oh and NO. Pocock has not been targeted like McCaw.
