Aaron Sorkin - like the west wing with worse actors. Still awesome though.

I don't think the actors are worse at all. Like the first season of the west wing the great actors are over shining the good ones. Lowe/Daniels. It's getting better as the season goes on. I just started watching west wing again and it's the same at the start. His casting is absolutely fantastic.

Season 5 of sons of anarchy has been absolutely fantastic, season 4 was a little flat but it's made for an absolute blast this season.

The Australian show that aired on Foxtel last year with David Wenham called Killing Time was excellent. He plays the Melbourne lawyer Andrew Fraser who represented Lewis Moran, Dennis Allen and other Melbourne underworld figures (and Alan Bond for a while). I believe it is being shown on FTA at the moment.

Shows I watch include:

Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
Survivor

About to start Parks and Recreation and I've watched the first couple of episodes of Homeland and need to get back into it.

Shows my girlfriend loves that I have grown to like:
Silent Witness (this is a fantastic show about forensic pathologists but isn't ridiculous like CSI)
Doctor Who
The Good Wife

Rake is a favourite in the Jets house. Season 2 just finished last night. Richard Roxburgh is great in the lead role of Barrister Cleaver Green.

Rake is one of the best written and acted TV shows I have seen. Period.

A modern, grown up black comedy that portrays a 'real' side of Sydney and Australia. This could be break through if it makes it over here.

I liked newsroom, but thought they could rename it to "The will they/won't they Democrat advertorial"

Crownies was really good too.

I enjoyed the Jack Irish shows that were just on the ABC with Guy Pearce.

Redfern Now the show that is taking over the slot that Rake had also looks quite good.

Plenty of good Aussie drama around at the moment. The Slap was another show that I enjoyed.

For those that enjoyed "Game of Thrones" have a look at "Pillars of the Earth" from a few years ago. It was a 8 episode season based on the novel, it also has Ian McShane as one of the main characters.

Also cannot recommend "Jekyll" enough, 6 episodes set in modern London. Stephen Moffat wrote this, who gave us good Doctor Who as well as Coupling and Sherlock.

Also "Red Dwarf X" should get a mention after the appalling Back to Earth debacle, this is actually funny.

Last but not least "The League" is about a group of mates and their fantasy sports league, this has to be one of the funniest things I've seen for a few years.

Thanks to this tread I have just watched season 1 and 2 of Game of Thrones in the last week. Such a good show. There is so much going on and I can't wait to watch season 3 next year.

I enjoyed Veep.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the US VP. Amusing satire.

Watched some of The Newsroom. Enjoying it, but finding it a bit smug.

Justified, on Fox, based on an Elmore Leonard book

Set in the in-bred deep south

It takes a few episodes to get the rhythm (very lyrical, floral language etc) but it is pretty good

Yeah I'm a big Justified fan. Thought season 1 was average, but it has got progressively better as it has gone on. Early days they tried to make every episode a story in itself (CSI style) but now they are going with long, slow story arcs over whole seasons, it's great.

Can't wait for the next season, pity it's so far away.
