Angus Pulver (9 Australian Schoolboys) and Calum Buckling (8 for GPS 2nds), both from Shore, are heading to Sydney Uni in 2013.

Don't they have Jock Merriman as well
Do they really need 2 high quality 9s
How is that good for Aust rugby ,what is best for the player, the comp, NSW rugby and Aust rugby. Then again non of that is a concern to Uni

Jake Polarmo who played combined States has joined Southern Districts Colts
They are going to have a good forward pack with some good depth

Apparently the Norths 1st Colts Squad is packed with Joeys and Newington boys. OPL, Sam Barclay, Josh Kay and Josh Wilde are a few, heard the James Goldie is even at Norths which will be a massive loss for Gordon.

Who will be contenders for the top 6
Uni as usual
Norths will be there with a lot of last years team returning plus some good additions
Eastwood as they are always strong in colts
West Harbour same as Eastwood
Randwick have had a massive change in colts but have some of last years team returning and some good additions. Where Baldwin, Roods and Roye play , either grade or colts will have a big say on how they go
So it could be a shoot out to see who gets the other spots for the finals

He was never looking @ Gordon. He just wanted to go with Sam Barclay.

Andrew Ferris, also a 2012 Oz Schools halfback, looks like he's off to Sydney Uni for tertiary studies - not sure whether he'll be playing there though. His older brother Scott is at Easts

Thats a bit harsh on uni - and god knows I am happy to mark them hard.
Straight out of school and no doubt heading to Uni he will probably play Colts while Merriman might be into grade.
Either way its a great chance for him to play for his uni and have some fun - you have to remember that plenty of Oz schoolboys dont play s. 15 etc. so he's an unknown quantity at this level.
Burgess played at Uni before moving to Easts etc and he was in his school 2nds - its a whole new world.
I'll bet he's going to Andrews College so playing for Uni is no brainer given the travel it saves.

Both Dempsey and Whiteley are in the Wallabies academy. Dempsey turned down both the league offers from parramatta and newcastle

David Horowitz straight into Waratahs? See last para of this article:

Feel sorry for Lane. Guttsy call - a huge part of the rehab from a cruciate is mental and i am constantly amazed (having had 2 to different knees myself and never recovered my ticker following either) how quickly they get back and how little they show the signs of the mental damage.

Not wishing to put a downer on Horwitz - i have only seen highlight reels - but it does show pretty starkly the lack of depth in certain positions in this country.

Either that, or it demonstrates that if you do not make it at schoolboy level then you are finished.
Have a look at the 7's side. If you could not field a team from the SS that would flog these kids, then I would give up.
If you are not an early physical developer and make the state 16's side, or you do not go to a GPS School. it is just about all over as far as rep footie as an adult is concerned.
Look at who has been invited to join the tah's in the off season.Schoolboys and failed mungoes. They also have a prop who finished the year in 3rd grade...How does that work?
The guy awarded best and fairest in the SS last year is a 10, who was dropped from the 7's program and is obviously not considered as worthy of a look by the Tahs.BTW he was neither a 16 yo prodigy nor a GPS product, IIRC.
