May I ask how many did Connor read make for Churchie?

Mate i can say with confidence that he bats 7th in the order as a all rounder/ bowler. his best figures this GPS season include: 4/50 off 10 and his top score: 12. I think he is weapon in the eyes of the Churchie 1sts and this season will be a force not to be reckoned with.

Good batting pitch at BBC on the weekend, and BBC were well below par posting 199 batting first, mostly due to a top display of control from the GT attack, in reply a solid start held GT in good stead as they worked their way home with minimal risk and 9 balls to spare. BBC vs BGS should be an interesting game this week, I believe it will closer than many believe however look to BGS to bounce back after their shock loss last week.

Will BBC's batting pitch be ready in time for this weekend? I hear it .got flooded pretty badly from yesterdays rain.

If Barry and Jack aren't bowling/aren't at their best, who else is standing up for Terrace? I hear they haven't conceded over 200 yet so something must be going well.

Intriguing round ahead. Obviously disappointing seasons from the perspective of TSS and Churchie; however, this week they both have the opportunity to seriously dent the hopes of both BGS and GT - the two teams realistically vying for the premiership.

I'll be at Northgate to witness the match between BGS and Southport, and I must say that the TSS boys have little to lose. With such a strong team on paper, they will be looking to avenge some tough losses throughout the season. Grammar on the other hand have everything to lose. A loss would all but seal a premiership to Terrace, while a win would place them in a good position for the final showdown in the last round.

In the past two years I think I have watched Fleming top score for BGS against his old school, so it is safe to say he gets up for these games. While I am not aware of how he is recovering from his arm injury, it can be assumed that he will be a target for the TSS boys - like they say, take out the captain, take out the team.

I still strongly believe that TSS have the best batting team in the competition, with some dangerous bowlers also. So surely they will click sometime in the season. Hopefully for their sake it can be this weekend.

Similarly is the case with Gregory Terrace where captain Sam Wilson is the inspirational backbone of their team. Unfortunately for TSS, he scored 100 against them, where they really needed it. If Churchie can get him cheaply, a win to Churchie is no way out of the equation.

I do know that some of the 1983 BGS Premiership winning first XI cricket team are going out to the game on Saturday. Hopefully this will help BGS win their first premiership in 30 years.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll be there with you, but I'm certainly quite excited at the prospect of this game. This is grammar's last chance to truly click as a side before facing heavyweights GT in what will hopefully be a Grand Final.

It seems to me that Grammar has limped from game to game, not ever looking truly convincing. Outside of the nets BGS' top order is brittle. Even with the grade experience of Fleming and Renshaw, Yule, Whip, and Jain, under pressure the boys have cracked time and time again, leaving it up to tail enders to close out games (in reference to Fergus Halliday, Paddy Dooley, and Sam Hele's heroics week in, week out). Even with the odd double bonus point win against admittedly sub-par opposition the team never really looked like a championship side like in years past i.e. BGS 2012 with Greene, Starr-Thomas, Hill etc

Kendel Fleming's injury is still affecting him. He got out for a score <10 on the weekend, demonstrating again that he is not yet ready to return to competition. Short balls attacking his injured wrist are still proving to be a major problem, even with considerable training being done privately to work on any shortcomings. The standout batsmen to replace him would have to be in-form year 11 star Nyoah Rosmarin, but I believe it's now too late to remove Fleming from the side. Hopefully he can pick up some confidence against a very solid bowling side in TSS, the time has come for him to stand up, and lead the team from the front. A player of his immense skill level should be able to snap out of a slump when the situation requires it.

The loss of unheralded middle-late order workhorse Liam O'Brien to Australian Olympic Athletic commitments (throwing a junior world record 75.00 metre Javelin throw in his absence in Round 5, thus qualifying for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016) is definitely a bigger impact than people may understand. In innings against TGS, NC, and BSHS O'Brien stepped up to make a big contribution to the side. I don't know if his replacement Aravinda Perera has the batting skill to stand up as an all-rounder replacement.

If grammar pull through with a win against the boys from the coast, they should be pleased with a very successful season. That being said, I don't think anybody in their right mind could back against GT in round 9.

GT has dominated BGS in T20 trials, one dayers, even on facebook smack talking events, and I just don't think Grammar can upset them. Barring a serious choke, Gregory Terrace has a superior side, and should dispatch BGS relatively easily. One of the best First XI teams that have ever come through the GPS in my time involved in the competition.

Mate I have to say this is absolute garbage. If the GPS results website got their act together you will find that GT only beat BSHS, arguablly the worst team in the competition by a mere two wickets chasing 80 odd! Hardly a superior side and " One of the best First XI teams that have ever come through the GPS" if they can't demolish, let alone comforabally beat teams at the bottom of the ladder...

The beauty of cricket is that any team can win on their day. The true indicator of a star team is the ability to win even on a bad day, when decisions, shots, and balls do not go your way. Grammar, arguably closest to Terrace in the Premiership chase couldn't handle the pressure when it got heaped on against Ipswich in Round 5.

Terrace could, and did handle the pressure against every single team they played. My point stands.

In regards to the other point, I ask you, how many better teams have come through the GPS? this is the strongest all round age group in a very long time, or so I have been told. On paper, the quality of the Terrace team is unparalleled throughout the competition. In addition to this, tight wins in the past have demonstrated that they're undisputably a clutch team. If they don't beat Grammar then I'm totally happy to be called an idiot. I'll be a very happy idiot too, but I wouldn't put any money on it.

Fair point, don't mind it at all. Can't say I can answer that without giving a good answer.

Terrace were going for a double bonus point had something to do with it im pretty sure. Also BSHS have won two games so rating them as the w"arguabbly the worst teamin the competition" is a bit off. The low numbers, for both teams, probably has more to do with the type of wicket they were playing I think

Just wishing BGS the best of luck this weekend in what is essentially the final of this competition. If GT are the best cricket team to come through GPS cricket, then how did they tie with ACGS last weekend. They required 3 from the last over and "chocked". So much for winning the tight games.

If BGS are the best team, then why did they lose to IGS? It was pretty remarkable that Terrace needed something like 55 from 5 overs and still came out with a draw. Good luck to GT on the weekend.

How many wickets down was Terrace when they needed 55 from 5?

Must have been some pretty big hitting.

I heard it was Asnicar and Morahan in, they got it down to 3 off the last over but Asnicar got out and the terrace number 11 missed the last ball.

I must say after watching the GT team on Saturday afternoon, I was appalled at the sportsmanship of the entire team. I believe the GT captain received a red card for the antics of the team which I believe is warranted. Amassing a total of a sub par 136 is no reason for a team to continually chatter and approach the opposition batsmen in a threatening manner. The BGS openers showed more class and determination than their counterparts and the better team won on the day and the year. Well done BGS.

well no, thats just wrong. Wilson received no such card or warning, I believe one player was warned by the umpire for a bit of general chat in frustration but nothing more. I also attended the game and I saw nothing more than two committed sides going for a GPS premiership, such pressure and talk is apart of the game and both sides were exactly the same as each other in the field, full credit to BGS, the better side on the day.
