The way I read it, if the majority of white people voted for Romney rather than Obama. That's saying something about the average white persons' intelligence relative to other races rather than the voting behavior of other races..

True. I wasn't really trying to make a big deal out of it. My point was if you wanted to make tenuous points about race based on polling figures then you could do it one of many ways. Not that that was what Jnor was trying to do, of course.
Yeah I just thought it was an interesting bit of trivia more than anything.

That is a fake, done by a left wing website.

Er, I'm not sure if that specific screenshot was a fake or not, but.........

Small problem – those aren’t the Fox presenters getting the news of the Obama victory. The presenters on the night were Megyn Kelly and Brett Baier.
Incorrect.

Those 3 in the picture were indeed the presenters during Fox News' election coverage as I watched it online (along with every other network coverage).

If you'd said that about another other than white people, that would be considered racist.

Strange world hey.

Well my post is racist, that's the joke.

It was in response to this discussion on the last page:

See I don't really understand this. White men voted for Romney, and the subtle undertone I detect from a lot of people who point that out is 'racism'. And yet African Americans went roughly 96% for Obama, and that gets completely overlooked.

I am no right-winger, but I do find it interesting that the flipside to the 'whites voted for Romney' coin hasn't been discussed.
.

I'm just twisting what they say to get to a conclusion that no one would have considered before-hand.

So in short, I hope there is no one out there who doesn't think what I wrote was just ignorant and prejudice. (or "racist" in the broad sense)

No, I realised it was a joke. Just making an observation on how these things are view in society.

How am I just seeing this thread now? I watch the Daily Show on a well..daily basis..that episode was brilliant Braveheart81. I'm actually still baffled as to how they find people who will still agree to do interviews with them.

My 2cents on all of this: The bipartisan system is entirely broken to it's core, our 'representative democracy' no longer represents anyone but themselves and corporate interest, both parties are essentially the same (honestly Obama may be more center-right than McCain ever would have been but thank fucking god that senile lunatic and his VP were kept out of office) and the largest differences are based around religion (fucking gag), the American people have been entirely sold down the river and the policies which were put in place following WW2 and building up to the Cold War have snowballed leading to an increasingly authoritarian state over the past few generations. Much of this has been based on the premise of keeping us 'safe' which they failed to do in Boston, so now we're living in a time where many of our once inalienable constitutional rights can be instantly suspended or ignored by the government should somebody point the finger and say 'terrorist'. It's really just a repeat of the same shit that happened to the Irish/Italians/Jews/African Americas/Native Americans/etc at different periods in our Nation's history except now the 'black label' is so ambiguous it could literally be anyone. Basically the constitution has been getting shit on for a very long time now and it's just been getting worse in the past decade.

This administration is pretty hilarious to watch though in terms of the blatantly two-faced politics Obama pulls off with that smug grin. Just the other day he held a press conference claiming and 'End to the War on Drugs'..the same war on drugs which the DEA is fighting to whom he just signed off a budget increase for. Or the 'Hope' and 'Change' brought about by expansion and extension of the 'Patriot' Act and suspension of Habeus Corpus/allowing drone strikes on US Citizens/etc.

For the record I'm registered as an Independent and voted for Jill Stein in the last election. I don't have any faith in either party as they are both the Corporate Party as far as I am concerned. I'm not a Libertarian or Tea Party Supporter, both groups are batshit insane if they actually believe in their party's officially stated goals and beliefs. I'm a pretty centrist moderate and just entirely fed up and jaded by the politics here in the USA. I'd be really surprised if anyone in my immediate family is still living in the USA a decade from now, we've been fine-tuning our escape plan for a bit now.

To few America's vote. Perhaps trying compulsory voting may give a truer reflection of what people think. Does ring with me as a country with Government for the people by the people etc.

Welcome to the world of people that are disaffected by politicians.

I'm a big fan of compulsory voting. Takes all the power away from the special interest groups as the numbers they can galvanise to vote become much less influential.

If the USA had compulsory voting the NRA would be a lunatic fringe group with little to no power.

People will find a way to turn compulsory voting into a violation of our 'Constitutional Rights'. Probably the same people okay with violating or denying the 1st/4th/5th/9th amendments etc for the Boston Bombers but who throw a tantrum at the concept of background checks to possess and carry a lethal weapon.

Do Australia have an equivalent for the Tea Party or (increasingly) the Republican Right in general?

The closest we came to the Tea Party, was a party called One Nation. but it was much less concerned with small government and more just a rallying cry for the disenfranchised nationalist movement.

Interestingly enough it pretty much grew wings after the gun buy back scheme and took a lot of the Liberal parties votes on that single issue alone.

Thankfully it self destructed after less than a decade.

Gotcha. I don't think the Tea Party is so much a strictly small-government party as it is a party for those who have had their entire education of the Constitution and the American system of government laid down by Fox News.

Unfortunately there are some possible links between the tea Party movement, or at least the ultra-conservative wing of the Republican Party and Senator Cory Bernardi:

While we have some pretty right wing journalists demagogues like Jones and Bolt, who could be equated to Limbaugh, at least we don't have to put up with Glenn Beck clones.
