How am I just seeing this thread now? I watch the Daily Show on a well..daily basis..that episode was brilliant
Braveheart81. I'm actually still baffled as to how they find people who will still agree to do interviews with them.
My 2cents on all of this: The bipartisan system is entirely broken to it's core, our 'representative democracy' no longer represents anyone but themselves and corporate interest, both parties are essentially the same (honestly Obama may be more center-right than McCain ever would have been but thank fucking god that senile lunatic and his VP were kept out of office) and the largest differences are based around religion (fucking gag), the American people have been entirely sold down the river and the policies which were put in place following WW2 and building up to the Cold War have snowballed leading to an increasingly authoritarian state over the past few generations. Much of this has been based on the premise of keeping us 'safe' which they failed to do in Boston, so now we're living in a time where many of our once inalienable constitutional rights can be instantly suspended or ignored by the government should somebody point the finger and say 'terrorist'. It's really just a repeat of the same shit that happened to the Irish/Italians/Jews/African Americas/Native Americans/etc at different periods in our Nation's history except now the 'black label' is so ambiguous it could literally be anyone. Basically the constitution has been getting shit on for a very long time now and it's just been getting worse in the past decade.
This administration is pretty hilarious to watch though in terms of the blatantly two-faced politics Obama pulls off with that smug grin. Just the other day he held a press conference claiming and 'End to the War on Drugs'..the same war on drugs which the DEA is fighting to whom he just signed off a budget increase for. Or the 'Hope' and 'Change' brought about by expansion and extension of the 'Patriot' Act and suspension of Habeus Corpus/allowing drone strikes on US Citizens/etc.
For the record I'm registered as an Independent and voted for Jill Stein in the last election. I don't have any faith in either party as they are both the Corporate Party as far as I am concerned. I'm not a Libertarian or Tea Party Supporter, both groups are batshit insane if they actually believe in their party's officially stated goals and beliefs. I'm a pretty centrist moderate and just entirely fed up and jaded by the politics here in the USA. I'd be really surprised if anyone in my immediate family is still living in the USA a decade from now, we've been fine-tuning our escape plan for a bit now.
