I notice that #19 William Cronin wasn't selected in the NSW squad (
http://nswjuniors.rugbynet.com.au/default.asp) so perhaps a case of sour grapes bringing on claims of coach bias? Favouritism sounds unlikely based on what Non Political says above. Also, I don't think the U17s coach has any connection with this age group?

He has no association with this age group at all. Completely independent and any suggestion of anything other does suggest maybe a little bit of sour grapes. As with anything opinions vary and who knows what selectors were looking for but Zebib can play as can Craig. Not a bad option to have both in team.

I stand corrected. Not sour grapes although I am a manly fan. Disappointing not to see manly player given more of a go based on trial form. But as you say different coaches look for different qualities. Well done to all the boys who made the NSW team.

Regardless of whatever personal thoughts you may have about the selections, the NSW teams have been announced.

It is time for us to get behind the teams and wish them the best as they prepare to take on the ACT and QJRU on the October long weekend in Canberra, at the quaintly named AJRU National Championship.

Will withdraw the sour grapes comment. My understanding is that a lot of talented boys missed out but there are only so many spots. Boys who missed out just need to be assured that they are good players and they should be encouraged to look forward to colts footy and beyond as there are many, who now play at high level ,that missed these junior teams. I know it doesn't take away the disappointment but time will tell.

Hugie, Totally agree. Comes about from weekly hard games, club/school, which gets the Sydney boys playing a faster game. It will be v hard to get it into the country boys.

It may be politically impossible but I would like to see Country do way with the Country championships and play a 6 week competition with full game time (not 22min halves, I've given some costings on how this could work on another thread). I think Sydney should likewise do away with the State championships.
Once a Country team is selected it needs to play teams with backlines that reposition faster than it has been. Maybe the GPS/CAS/ISA could help here were they have holes in their program created by Grammar and High etc. Rugby Mum has complained before about how fuzzy the Country tours are.
I firmly believe that the country kids have the raw talent (so do the NSW and Qld GPS scouts), they just have to get used to the speed of repositioning.

P.S with the Hooker options don't forget the Country boys, Gareth can play Hooker, making 3 options (you Sydney guys).

I think this is a good idea. I'm not sure just how fair the state champs are in terms of picking boys for full games.
There are no holes in the GPS because of home and away system adopted to accommodate SGS and SBHS.
