Interesting stats, Hugh. Understand the "byes" because of the seedings but that many forfeits ???? Makes a mockery of a knock-out comp. Any idea what is the reason ? travel ? clash with exams ? not enough notice ? too difficult to organise if you are a school without a regular comp ? Be interested to hear from others who knows why so many schools are forfeiting.

Perhaps reality hits when they see who the opponet is. Doesn't explain the Westfield and Illawarra sports

I would assume that a teacher nominates the School early in the year.
When it gets close they work out there isn't the interest they had assumed, and decide it's easier to forfeit than to have 25 odd kids away from school for a day to be flogged.

Thank for posting those results.

Could you - or anybody else - advise when, where and at what time the semis and final will be on, when details come to hand?

Thanks
.

The Knox vs Oakhill semi is on 14th August 1pm @ Granville Park. I am sure about this one and I am assuming the Auggies - Marist game is at the same place and same day but later in the afternoon. Thats how it was organised last year for the semis at TG Milner. The Final will be held on Wednesday 28 August at Forshaw Rugby Park at 2:45pm.

on the Knox Oak Hill match
Oakhill spent most of a good lead and only sealed the match with a converted 80m intercept try 3 minutes from full time

wow, that's a thrashing. What were the differences in the sides that saw Marist get flogged by so much?

Physicality and fitness I think, as the game went on the opportunities opened more readily for the Augies lads. It was a slow start as a few were still flat after a tough weekend contest.

I don't think you can ever discount the cost of a 3hr bus trip either

I believe the Marist lads continued to compete as well as they could but I think Augies started to score more when they stopped trying to score of every faze and controlled the possession and pressure better.

The Augies guys will have to be on their game for the final as I am sure Oak Hill lads will have been stung by the Rat Park result and woul like to mirror last years ISA/Waratah Shield engravings.

Marist faded badly in the second half. The bus trip could have been a factor as Wood Rat mentioned, but the Auggies forwards would have been another one.

Should be a good final. Charlie Taylor will be back for Auggies.

After the deafening silence from the interns at NSWRU so far, is anyone holding out any hope that there will be any form of media announcement about the Grand Final of the Premier Schoolboy Rugby Trophy in NSW.

Auggies must be red hot favourites given form to date.

Yeah - Auggies looked really good though they tried a bit too much razzle dazzle sometimes.

Oakhill had some good moments but the scoreline was skewed by intercept tries against Knox at the start and end of the game (= 14 points) otherwise Knox would have had a sniff.

Auggies have some good young forwards coming through too, and one of the masters said that most of them are back next year.

I took some notes and some pics - I may do a blog on the two semis and put it up tonight when I have some time.

Anyone know. If Augustines fielded the same side as Saturday?
I noticed they were mIssing 2 of their front row & both their locks on the weekend.
Lee were both games of a similar standard,or were Augustines flattered by their draw?

Auggies looked the best team of the four by some margin especially in the 2nd half, but Marist might have been affected by the bus trip.

The Marist coaching staff were whingeing about the Sydney referee having pre-conceived ideas and I thought they were dudded a few times but no doubt Auggies were too and I didn't spot them.

Pappa was in rare form at the half-time break with his winding up of Auggies for the second half.

Oakhill were the better team for more minutes than Knox were the better team, but the two intercept tries were killers in hindsight.

Theoretically the score could have been 19-17 Knox without the intercepts but such theories are nonsense because the dynamics of games change when there are sliding doors.
