Its a shame the Final for the Waratah Shield could not be played on a Saturday as it would be easier for Spectators and families to get out to watch, Instead of trying to get out of work and parents rushing picking kids up and it gives the boys Study Time at School... Just a Thought.

Lee were both games of a similar standard,or were Augustines flattered by their draw?

I am not surprised at the result after seeing the intensity of the Farrer/ Marist "Highlights" on the Tamworth news posted at #130. Marist won by a reasonable margin though the dynamics of the contest didn't appear to have the same energy we see from the schools that compete at consistently challenging level

Ah but thankfully they managed to find a ground that is close to home for the competing schools

Agree - and the semi also, because, in 2013, the likely NSW protagonists had finished their season (GPS teams don't compete in it a lot and aren't needed.)

I don't know what the timetable for Marist is in any year but if they have already finished their comp games then all four semi-finalists could have competed (in a parallel universe) next Saturday in the 2013 semi-final, and the two finalists competed for the Shield the following Saturday.

In that parallel universe scenario the 2013 Waratah Shield would be completed a few days before it actually will be.

Fulltime Oakhill 31 Knox 19

Ouch, two tough losses for Knox in less than a week, Barker rolled them in the final round of CAS on the previous Saturday.
I read it somewhere but now can't find it, is the final being played at Forshaw again??

Yep - read back a few pages to see the date and time, which I can't remember at the minute.

The farking shame is that it is not being played as Curtain Raiser to the Bledisloe cup match tomorrow night at Homebush.

Anyone got a time and location and date for the actual Final?

What a Shame it can't be the Curtain Raiser for the Bledisloe. Bad PR. Its a great way to promote School Rugby and get it out there, just don't understand.

Bravo to Knox for participating in what has become an ISA vs Sports High Schools competition.

I'd like to see more involvement from more schools including CCC schools.

Maybe some Big Sponsors could get on board and Contribute some Incentives.

Im sorry but since the late 90's / early 2000's for me the waratah shield had become a joke. Many schools dropping out for reasons already discussed. The prestige of it dwindled over the years - then fizzled out completely when the canberra schools were taken out of it. It sounds harsh but I laugh when it is referred to as one of the "premier school boy" competitions in aus rugby even though the top schools don't compete. Id love to see the GPS and more CAS schools compete in it (seriously compete in it, not send 2nd/3rd or U16 sides which has happened in the past) .

I agree, it makes it exciting. Some schools might be worried that Auggies might beat them. I know last season Auggies beat Scots 45/0 in a Trial Game, Will make the competition more exciting.

exISA, if we don't refer to it as the Premier School Boy Competitions, then whatever prestige it has left will be lost.

I realise that it is not that now but if we do not build it, then they will not come.

What other vehicle can we use to promote serious schoolboy competitions outside of the main insular association environments?
