I've heard Andrew Kellaway (Aust Schools fullback) has chosen Randwick as nect seasons destination & they've promised him a 1st XV spot.

Any truth in the rumour that the Wicks are to be renamed Scots College Old Boys or The Stallions?:)

Interesting. Which school did Harry Jones attend?
A mixed bag. Attended Grammar, Kings and Barker if these threads are to be believed.

Family has fairly tight connections with the Rats, and has displayed local loyalty in the past.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was to pop up in a Sevens Academy.

Relevent to all this discussion is the format of the competition in 2014. Is there any concrete information about this, "post season championship", the supposed super B competition, a national or multiple regional academies, how the SS itself will run or any other detail? How can any aspirational player make plans with all this uncertainty? How can clubs plan their own budgets, coaching, player rosters without this certainty?

However he did raise some points, that would enable us all to know what we are talking about for 2014.

You guys seem well connected but at the risk of inflaming you: are you musing on SS2014 on the basis that it will be substantially the same as this year? Dont bite my head off - just trying to get a feel from those in the know.

Just chilling out as it's fishing season now.

With clubs gearing up for preseason training to start in the next couple of weeks or so, they need a degree of confidence as to the competition model they will be operating under next season so they don't over or under recruit.

Any substantial changes from the 4 grade/3 colts model can only be made for the 2015 season. I reckon it is too late to make substantial change for 2014 without causing massive disruption and unrest from the stakeholders.

The Clubs will have/should have their 2014 plans in motion now. They should have organised their coaching and team support and admin positions, secured sponsors and ordered playing strip with sponsors logos, secured access to their training and playing ovals with Councils, and recruited players all based on some sort of competition model. Most of the 2014 expenditures would have been committed.

Same number of teams, 18 rounds, and I believe 5 team finals over 4 weeks.
  • Premier Rugby will commence Saturday 5 April 2014
  • Competition will be played over 18 rounds, last round 16 August 2014 allowing for 2 bye rounds (Easter and June LW)
  • The finals will be played between the top 5 teams over 4 weeks, with the Grand Final on Saturday 13th September 2014.

I hear that the Easts Beasts are offering $$$ to pinch a few players from a nearby club????

Jeez you'd think the Beasts would have learnt by now not to chuck the cash around!
I heard after the passing of David Coe that he was a big contributor to the beats. Who is there now?

The Beasts have recruited Andrew Mehrtens as a technical advisor it seems... And are on the hunt for some big name players I hear
