SIRU silly season is well under way. Plenty of rumored player, coaches & club movements & news. Anyone willing to confirm or deny or add..
Ben Leaper & Eddie Laggalli to Canberra Royals.
Pat Barrett back to Wagga Waratahs.
Tim Davidson to coach Young.
City, Albury & WAC to loose a number quality players.

Tough start to the season for City.

Jason was a guy who had a lot of rugby talent, although some punters did refer to him as the "world's best rugby trainer" such were the number of injuries he experienced early in his career.

Although injury prone, there's no doubt he can play - and he is a big unit.

To be honest, I thought he would have headed back to Royals with Eddie to give the JID a shot.

One coach & two clubs??? That sounds like a Waratahs / Junne Rams combination....

I heard the Turtle Corcoran rumor, don't think it will eventuate though. Hard to see him playing with any other club other than Ag College. For the other 3 you mentioned, I have no idea who they are. Im relatively new to the zone. All Im hearing is how much Albury, City & Aggies are going to struggle.
I have heard also that until Eddie pulls on a Royals jumper, then take it with a grain of salt. Leaps almost went this year, so he is a definite.

Any other club news??

I understand where you are coming from, but my mail says that Eddie has got a room at the lodge in the 'berra already and has been training the house down.

Any other club news??
Not as yet, maybe some of our visitors have something they would like to add.

Will the Yabbies leave SIRU? Will BARC come back to the fold? Anyone got any thoughts on the 2013 Finals Series?

I am hearing that Jason Lagalli is "just the tip of the ice berg" over at Wagga City. Sounding like the 'revival' was very short lived. I am hearing up to a dozen guys will be leaving. Must be the Mick Small factor.
Id be interested in hearing any coaching news. Ag College advertising at the moment. Not sure if it will be the sought after gig it perhaps once was. I am hearing that between retirements, graduations & players returning to old clubs / home towns they will be a very different looking 1st XV.
Anyone from WAC or City care to confirm or deny??
I have other news, but can not comment until arrangements are official....

Hey Jack01, let's keep it positive mate. Mick Small has been involved with Wagga City for well over a decade and volunteers like that are essential to our game.

Aggies will no doubt be rebuilding next year (and were probably in that stage this year also) but you never know who will show up out at the Uni for CSU or Aggies and both clubs have some good networks around the traps. Aggies did well to secure Richard Turnbull when they did (remember he may have ended up at Waratahs), hopefully they can continue building from here.

Albury will rebuild also, Steve Stone has moved on to greener pastures at Uni-Norths in the 'berra. There would be a host of players pulling the pin and retiring on a high note, Mick Alexander for sure. Will Wal Stuart go round again for the Steamers?

Although it's a long way off, I'm keen to get into the 2014 season!

Sorry, my mistake. I must not have been clear enough. The Mick Small comment was a positive. These players may be leaving as a result of him not coaching. I don't know.
You are spot on with the rebuilding of a number of clubs. Rugby clubs go through cycles of ups and downs. There are certainly interesting times ahead for a few clubs.
I did hear a ripper of a rumor that will really add fuel to the CSU V Ag College rivalry. If it becomes fact that is....
What is Steve Stone doing at the Owls?

No worries.

I heard he has taken on a consultancy role, but haven't had that confirmed by anyone at Uni/Norths.

A little bit of jumper swapping....
One or two 1st XV players. One has verbally agreed to his new club, yet hasn't told his current club anything & could be a surprise 1st XV coaching candidate also. It has been mentioned. When I heard this, I did ask for it to be repeated to me! Its juicy!

I'm also told & a couple of 'fringe' players maybe.

I'm the guy that only plays if thirds are short...So I am not going to begrudge anyone who swaps jumpers looking for a game or success.

Wow 2014 season rumour mill is in overdrive. Heard a few rumblings from the tahs camp, straight from the horses mouth so to speak. few new additions with solid reputations and not many if any departures. If they come to fruition they will have a good squad with depth which is a must for successful teams.
On another note I recently attended my best mans wedding in Wales in August, caught up with a few mates who the former steamers coach had tried persuade to come over. His successful year in siru last year was attracting attention there. Good luck to him in Canberra.

Wow, Red to Green or Green to Red?

RF - It's been a long time between drinks for you mate! Sounds like we've got similar mail on this one.

This is good to hear and I think more local clubs should be looking into their options overseas. Wagga City have had some good success in recent times, Cootamundra have been networking successfully also, Leeton had some good visitors last year, Albury as well and the Yabbies are getting onto that bandwagon also. If clubs are sensible about this and can recruit in key positions it's a bonus for the competition to have these players coming to our region.

Yeah been a while but follow from afar. Have been playing in western plains comp for last two seasons (which is basically a comp for 2nd place behind coonamble's rugby dynasty in the zone) but returning to play for tahs next season.

A bit of both. Not sure if its just silly season chatter, but one rumor began almost as soon as the season finished. It will be interesting to see how this pans out. One guy could be a serious coaching candidate for one of the clubs though. That much I do know; literally from the 'horses mouth'

If I hear anything concrete, this forum will be first to know!

I've been reliably told that Ag College are looking internally for 1st XV Coaching candidates. Applications not exactly flooding in. Perhaps a guy like Tim Corcoran running the backs & Dave Armstrong looking after the forwards??

Who are all these players Tahs are signing? or alleged to have signed?

Frank Nicholson (4)
What would a silly season be without the waratahs being the center of attention!

Adding Pat Barrett & Time Corcoran to the Tahs will certainly create some selection headaches for co - coaches Palmer / Skellen...

Maybe it is just me, but I can't see Corcoran playing in any other colours except green. If the news is true about WAC loosing players, then having a player of his caliber & standing within the club commit to them, will give them a great shot in the arm. Perhaps he is more inclined to 'jump from a sinking ship' though??

Has anyone heard who is coaching Coota and Young next year ?- The word is Glover was a 1 year wonder at Coota & has pulled the pin and Luke Eldridge will step down as 1st Grade coach next year at Young

That's a shame for Coota if that's true about Andrew Glover, he was a very handy player.
Luke Eldridge has been a central part of the Yabbies for a long time now, I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a back seat for a while, he's certainly earned a rest.
