That must be the reason how drew Mitchell got his deal in France

You nailed it again. Mitchell also played a bit for team called the Wallabies (to add to his international fame generated by playing at Balmain) which might have helped his marketability. Don't think Richie Aho had quite the same profile which is why IMO, a few games with Randwick might have helped his cause.

I did see that Tim Metcher is now playing with Randwick. It was in today's members email from the Tahs.
.

I believe he left in quite acrimonious circumstances and lobbed unannounced at Forshaw. There was a bit of tension between Randwick and Souths over it, so will be interesting to see what the reaction is now.

pretty sure he is still at souths. he left randwick in 2012 after being picked down the grades in the first trial along with two others. One being a pommy Oliver steadman and the other being a country lad who had been at the wicks a while dallas pawley.

The Galah hasn't nibbled on the SS thread for a while but I've just flipped through the mighty Manly Marlins annual report . Not just a professional document but very pretty financial reading . Second healthy 6 figure profit in a row (i think better than the result for the Sea Eagles football club). Nothing like good governance , the sponsors must be delighted despite the absence of silver ware again. The MMM's are undoubtedly the best placed of the northern clubs in meeting the challenges posed by any national clubs competition at the end of SS 2014.

Sounds like you have started the PR campaign for their inclusion in the National Rugby Competition :)

The case for a stand alone Marlins offering exists but it won't happen . There is however, a powerful argument as a solvent well run club , for the MMM's to lead a north of the harbour bid ;)

Does anyone know whether there will bea City v Country clash in 2014. With the advent of a new club competition and academy games will this fixture be scrapped

So the draw is done... But due to Pulver & his buddies pushing this new competition in sep/oct the whole draw needs to be re-jigged & pushed 2 weeks foward... Could cause some issues with ground availability?
Gordon, Norths, Randwick, Uni, Manly... All cricket grounds used until April 1

Yeah I was wondering which SS clubs have grounds that don’t double as cricket grounds.
Parramatta
Souths
Penrith?
Warringah
West Harbour
Eastwood.
I guess they’ll need to host the first round but possibly the first few until the other clubs are granted access to their grounds. Not ideal.
I really do like the idea of replicating the NPC and Currie Cup but we need to ensure the clubs are looked after.

Hey Gibbo, I'm assuming clubs like Gordon (and the Wicks) are going to be affected by the proposed earlier start to the season next year and the fact that Chatswood will still be being used for cricket. Is that your understanding and has the club discussed a workaround for this?
I can't confirm anything so I won't comment until the Shute Shield draw is confirmed. Sorry

The challenge may be to move some games to "non-traditional" venues such as the likes of Redfern Oval (Wicks & Uni), David Phillips Oval (Wicks), Henson Park, Macquarie Uni (Gordon/Norths) for the first round or two.

Wicks have been playing their trials at their training ground Latham Park the last couple of years
