I'm sure LG has a lot more information on it but from what's been said his been missing since November last year. Hasn't been apart of the squad since then.

Not quite. I think there were immigration/visa issues that required The Hill to go to NZ to sort out. There are posts on one of the threads quoting his twitter account which was claiming how hard he was working on his fitness and how much he was looking forward to coming back to Sydney.

It is possible that the visa issues remain unresolved rather than "he legged it".

With the season nearly upon us (thank god) perhaps it is time to have a crack at forecasting/guessing the top 6.
I will have a stab-
Uni
Manly
Souths
Eastwood
West Harbour
Parramatta

Can't see the top 4 changing unfortunately.
Think Gordon may surprise.

Macca - the way you have been promoting Randwick I was sure you'd have them as a shoe in for the top 4. If they cant make your top 6 they'll definately be needing some political assistance come NRC time.

I'll just do a top 5 and say Manly somewhere in there;
Eastwood.
Souths.
Uni.
Randwick.
Parra.
I do think Uni will feel the pinch given the adjusted season finishing in line with the Super Rugby.

If the warringah backs can transfer any of their speed and skill from the gordon trial to the real deal they could be a handful

I think Souths will fall out of the top 4
Depth is an issue and a few injuries will be hard to cover
You would think Randwick will improve even under Kelly's coaching and I think Parra will be the big improvers

Ha Ha got me there - hope they are a shoe in. Firstly I had been defending not promoting.
Its my guess that the Wicks will be part of an NRC bid that isn't called Randwick and that entity will have much more personnel at its disposal than Randwick's SS team. I think the Wicks will struggle to improve on 7th or 8th.

Hook line and sinker - still fishing season.

I get to games and see 3 or 4 grades, saw them 3 times last year - their depth will have them finishing higher than 7th or 8th. As I've always said as a club they are doing good things, and I like what they are doing, plus playing attractive rugby. This is why I found hard posting about them when referencing the NRC.

I'm just annoyed they aren't working fairly with other teams (appears from the outside).

RE the NRC; from the outside it appears they think they are above the game, and that will squash and ruin the game, we need to get under it and build.

Seems the wicks have picked up a few of the schoolboys from last year. Will be interesting to see how they go against the big kids. The transition from king of schoolboy rugby to small fry in grade hasn't always been made well

How they go playing, or how they go staying within the allowed points given the changes?

Done that

When taking a punt on the top 6,I don't think that picking this years teams should be judged too much on where they came last year,
or where their lower grade teams finished, without looking at the likely first grade lineups available to each.
There seems to be a lot of personnel changes to many of the teams this year,& the availability of S15 players has also changed from last year.
Uni will likely be there, but some of the other recently strong clubs may not be so prominant, & I expect a few upsets are on the cards at years end.

Fair call, is there any info on the new points system? Will Uni still be able to field a team of Wallabies/Super players and decalare 0 points because of the loyalty deduction??

I don't think anyone (other than the ARU) really knows what is going on in the formation of NRC teams which is why I have stuck up for Randwick a bit. I heard (from an Easts man) Easts were prepared to put in $5k - would you give them 50% of a JV for $5 grand?
Back to topic - I think Manly will go close this year. Blake is a smart coach - they have a formidable pack of forwards and some great Colts coming through.

Now that this is the Magners Shute Shield Thread, does that mean that there will be some of the sponsors products made available at future Gaggerland gatherings to go along with the Angels nector that is the fine product of McLaren Vale Ales?

If so, I'm all for starting the Laphroig Players Boot Selection Guide Thread, and the Bin 389 Team Rehab 2014 Thread.

If Gagger and the mods are keeping all the Magners to themselves, then ."..... Not Happy Jan! "

Potgieter still hasn't been delegated a club side yet and the final contract spot who we thought would be taken up by a prop (Johnson Falefa ?) is actually been taken up by Stephen Hoiles. EPS contract spot goes to hooker Hugh Roach. All other players will be going back to their respective clubs.
My understanding is Potgieter is returning to Saffaland straight after S15 ends. I suspect the jersey was a spare.
