Big News in the DA today - The Whitley Bros off to League (Kangaroos) what a kick in the guts for Ag College - score update Whitley Bros. ego 2 - Care factor Ag College -ZERO. Both very injury prone & hope Kangaroos have a full time Physio !!

This hasn't surprised many within the club. When the chips are down & the club looking for some leadership, these two jump mungoe? Very predictable.
Their character was bought into question before this though, when they have chosen in the past to sit out club games in order to be injury free for meaningless representative games.

Why the move do you think? Purely a money thing for them? Abit more cash in the brown paper bag at the end of the game?

@ #8. Hard to tell. We see players constantly go between Rugby and league and so far as I am aware it has been going on since 1982 in this competition. I suppose it could be justified with player payments or the disintegration of a team and the good old chestnut of "no pathways and we can't get picked for country" may get thrown in there as well. I am sure that someone will take their place and Ag rugby won't wither and die. The reality is that players move on and with that an opportunity now presents itself for other players to flourish and become noticed. Who knows , there may be players waiting who are better than the Whitely's ?

I think it is a bit unfair to give these guys to much stick. They have both done their time for the club, James especially. The nature of Ag college is that people come and go usually every three, or however long it takes to do your degree. As a 26 year old I would imagine it would be hard to connect with guys up to seven years younger that are out on the piss 3+ nights a week. Nothing wrong with this, it's just the way it is. Ag were lucky to get an exceptional group of older guys doing a six year course Geard, Quast, Pete A, Shahidet al. And we're able to ride off the back of it for a good 6 years or so. Ag might be in for a lean year but I have no doubt they will be back.

Did anyone go to Coota 10's on the weekend?
Are Coota the real deal? Beating Reddies seems to be a bit of a signal.

I don't think its such a big deal, players moving between clubs or codes. It happens all the time in Albury. It's only when players leave the game when they are disillusioned that I think we need to keep tabs on.

Ah hmm...don't mean to be a kill joy but I believe someone must point out that by grand final, Hitler is talking about loosing to T town in the tin cup not the real GF. I'd be pissed too.

Gee... Don't tell Temora that what they played in at the end of last years season wasn't a fair dinkum grand final that was played within the by laws and guidelines set down by the SIRU clubs and board. I made a mistake many years ago ,when SIRU reintroduced McMullen Cup , to suggest that having a 3rd grade GF was ridiculous as it only included the 5 Wagga clubs and it should be decided with "first past the post" at the end of the season. The Ag rep at the meeting said to me that it may be the only GF that some of those players will ever be capable of playing in. He was absolutely correct because the following year Ag beat us in the McMullen cup GF and I saw how happy the Ag players were and the disappointment of our players. Any Grand Final is a Grand Final what ever the grade played.

Congrats to Ben Leaper from Ag College who has been given a run in the Brumbies team that played the touring Pampas XV yesterday in Canberra. Although this match was a friendly, the Pampas XV are the Argentinean B side and this match would have been a pretty handy standard.

Goes to show that if you've got the biscuits, you can make it to a representative level from SIRU. From my understanding Ben was spotted playing here locally by a Canberra based club scout and chose to make the move to the 'berra and have a crack. It's great to see that his crack has paid off for him and hopefully he continues along that path as far as he can take it.

I just heard that one of the refs got punched by a Grifith player at the knockout on the weekend. Was anyone there?

Apologies. It was not a a punch. It was a closed fist push to the chest... Either way it was touching a ref and should be dealt with severely. Refs cop enough shit without putting up with that. SIRU needs to grow a set and come down hard.

Watching the match it was an absolute disgrace the way Griffith behaved and has no place in rugby or any sport for that matter. I was extremely surprised the player who pushed the ref was not sent and would like to think SIRU would step in and hand out some sort of suspension to set precedence to all players.
