4s down at the break, and came home strong to finish 22 – 15, could of been by a few more as we were camped on their line for the final 5

3s great game of rugby. Forwards stuck solid the whole game, set piece, and phases flowed and this provided the back space to control the ball and score tries. This was 2nd v 3rd on the table and we took it 40 – 5. Max created plenty from the back of the rucks and mauls, great seeing Kayse back as he adds so much with ball in hand, Josh has taken his game to another level this year – he’s reading the game, having a go, and the ball is not dying when he takes it in and this is creating plenty of options. But the defence was awesome, for the first 20 of the second half we were camped in our 22 and then took the score to 26 zip with try that went 99 meters. Only points conceded were from a rolling maul and possibly donation points that we shouldn’t have given. D won that game.

2s forward pack was juggled from previous weeks with Manu, Sig, Gower all on the side line in ones. High scoring affair with 90 points being scored (9 tries by Marlins) and the game was always in control, this team can win the comp but can’t leak tries like that when we reach the finals. The tight 5 laid a very good foundation and rolled forward, the loosies did their job. Lucas was a class above and the backs enjoyed his ball, first year out of colts Squires is handling everything that comes his way, and can’t believe I’m giving another winger a wrap – Yarrington had an awesome game yesterday. Tight 5 laid the foundations.

1s Great seeing Northam spending some time off his wing and hitting the holes, 4 tries, and great tries as well. G had another storming game leading from the front, great go forward and often required a number of players to stop his go forward, the go forward and ball retention was again good to see. Daruda playing a little wider, did this have an impact on Zip going over for 4? Great seeing Treweek joining the line again like he was in the earlier rounds. Forwards allowed the halves to control the game.

Nice analysis Dave. It was refreshing to watch an attack-centric strategy (loved those quick tap-and-go penalty options). And thanks to the Marlins for scoring 4 second half tries in front of their supporters in the grandstand.

Can't believe Jonathan Fakai has been influenced by a so called friend of the family to leave Manly and play lower grades at Uni.He scored in their 4s on the weekend. Some people are far too trusting.

Todays daily was tight lipped.
Rugby news doesnt either - http://www.rugbynews.net.au/
Last weeks team.
Just look at the Rugby news web site No Gower or Lewis ? Why is the team captain not starting ? Sure 6 weeks away he might not be match fit But gees he is a leader and such a big game to leave Gower out of starting side. Has Lewis been drop or injured ? His has been in great form all year if fit why is he also not starting .

Possibly cagey stuff, or bit of time in 2's and coming on in ones.
Mitch and Matty maybe fresh reserves.
How about the second grade front row.

Massive second grade front row wow , Not the game to be cagey take them lightly at Rat park and they might send MMM's back home with there tails between the legs. Still don't think its the best starting 15 for such a big game.

Cagey, not lightly, far from lightly.
So who's the starting 15, some tough juggles and in my eyes it could vary with opposition.

Keeping it short.
4s very even but we allowed them to steal to much ball.
3s solid game
2s closer than I thought, ran away in the 2nd half. BJ and Kayse on fire.
1s we didn't treasure the ball when we had it, I think we threw the last pass for 2 of the rats tries. Porecki had a huge game. Rats backs showed what stability brings, they've played almost the whole season with the same 9 - 15.
Colts injury run continues, forwards led the way and how much talent does Vinnie have.

Stability, best players need to be on the park for each grade.

Just watched the replay. Warringah turned up to play rugby, Manly thought it was going to be an opposed training run.

I agree about Porecki, the more I see of him, the better he looks.

However, Luke Holmes was Man of The Season for that display, topped off by being on hand in a passing movement 90 metres down field from the scrum that he had just been in the centre of. I have never seen anything like that in my life (admittedly, only on tv).

Freeeezing day down at village, wind chill Factor.
I heard 4s put on 70, and that the Fakai boys and Chesters had good games.

3rd were strong across the park, and leaked the one try and retaining the best D in the comp.

2nds few changes in the back line, powerful forward pack led the way, and loosies did an awesome job. BJ continued to show his awesome season supporting the ball - hatrick after 20 and it looked like it was going to be 50 before oranges.

1s solid game, and traing run, job starts now. Attitude each week. Porecki was the stand out again he'd have to be one of the favorites for the Catchpole this year. New centre pairing went well, and pulled off a couple of awesome hits.
We put them over for their first, and let in 2 soft tries because it appears we took an early mark (first 40 = 47 zip, second 40 = 19 a piece).

Next week "Juniors day" the club needs to be ruthless, kids are coming to see on fire rugby.
