Got City 2 Surf this Sunday. No real training beyond the 35km in the last month at very average pace.

Just saw the doctor regarding an issue with the, uh, business end of the lower digestive tract, which required lancing. Hope that heals up before the weekend or she's going to be a mighty uncomfortable 14km!

Plenty of fibre, and warm, salt-water baths.
And, as a last measure, any of the proprietary topical ointments with local anaesthetic in them before the day.
Go hard, son!

Stop complaining. I did the city 2 surf one year with no training. Got home at 4am the night before. Stopped at edgecliff station on the way for a pie.

Did it in my PB too.

No pain. Stopping the bleeding is the issue - friction isn't going to help. Sitz baths on the cards for sure

The ointments usually have vaso-constrictive agents in them, so can help minimise bleeding too.
Good luck, mate.

Fuck its hard to be a hero to so many.

Tell me: did they still measure it in miles back then?

It was only a PB because it was my first and only. I walked the whole way. Except the last 100m. Typical Pfitzy preciousness.

Official C2S time was 1:30:56 - average pace of 06:29. Fairly shit really as I wanted 6:00/km

Position:
30,157 of 67,527 TOTAL finishers (55.34%)
19,569 of 33,080 MALE finishers (40.57%)
6,862 of 9,836 MALE 30-39 finishes (30.24%)

My split times were
Start-Heartbreak Hill - 38:29 (6.2km @ 6:12/km = 9.66km/h)
Heartbreak Hill - 11:33 (1.6km @ 7:13/km = 8.31km/h)
Top of Hill-finish - 40:53 (6.2km @ 6:35/km = 9.10km/h)

For a very brief moment I was shitty enough to want to try again next year. Then I got over it - I could beat that without a problem, knowing what I know now. Would need to train more consistently and be under 98kg but I could easily reel that in to 75 minutes.

Thanks. Spoke to a guy at work who has done it a couple of times and he said if I registered in one of the earlier groups I'd easily cut 15 minutes off that

Yeah, when I did it (ahem, a few years ago) it took me about 6 minutes to cross the start line, so I adjusted my official 76 min down to 70 min (seemed only fair). Part of me wants to do it again, but commonsense always talks me down!

Top of my left foot hurts like a bastard over a week later. Kind of like a form of tendonitis.
