As you can see from the New York Times graph above, China now has America's permission to emit as much CO2 as it likes for the next 16 years. So much for moving forward together.
The reduction of fossil fuels usage will occur if natural gas, nuclear power, and hydroelectricity continue their rise. The watershed moment may occur when hype and doomsday predictions disappear and rational debate breaks out.

If you believe that the USA and China statements amount to anything then you would be mistaken. Watch Paris. This is all about statements of intent and not about actual propositions to be implimented.
Obama can say anything he likes, sign anything he likes, say he will fund this and that but if the Republicans disagree then nothing happens. Any law he signs as a Presidential decree will simply be removed by the next Republican President. Lame duck if not Peking Duck.

Go to China and look, the pollution is terrible but the government fears all those folk who want want the people in the city have and mostly that is power. 500 million unhappy people in the rural areas is a big problem.
The same will go for India and the emerging nations. So say you will act by some date in the future 2 or three leaders from now. This is like poor old Neville Chamberlain and the Munich agree " Peace in our Time" and worth as much.

Ask the emerging nations if they want high cost alternatives that don't provide, nor ever will provide enough energy. Abbott is wrong about coal? Quite the opposite and if people are stuck in the ideology wars about oil and coal interests then look at the societies with their array of political ideologies that have developed as a result of those sources of energy over the last 200 years.
Tell the Africans you can't dam rivers for damaging natural habit, can use coal or oil so let your kids go cold and stare. Then you will have a boat problem everywhere.

Just a plague of rats really
no-one is going to stop
we have special needs because we are lucky enough to be born into a wealthy country and cant be expected to share or change
we wave images of an aspirational lifestyle and tell the 75% of the world not lucky enough to be here that this is how we should all live even if we need three planets to live like this.

we are wealthy enough to adapt, we pay an extra 30% to ensure 24hr electricity but wont pay <2% to improve efficiency develop alternative supplies of energy

The corals and molluscs of the ocean do not have the facility to adapt to increased acidity, the alpine species at the top of their isolated ranges cannot buy ladders to get that little bit higher The reptiles that can only function in a set temperature range cannot continue to forage

those living in marginal lands or developing areas of various parts of the world you are so concerned for do not have reinvestment options

The bloke from New Guiney had it pretty right when he told the united states
you may not like it please get out of the way

TA says that he's not worried "about what might happen in 16 years".

This is another example of the short-term thinking of him and the Coalition, where long-term thinking is required.

Abott has nothing to do with the statements of Chian and the USA or what they will do.

What then is Shorten's policy then?

We know the Greens want us back in trees eating worms.

Diversion again. Don't you ever get tired of it?

FYI the A.L.P., or the Greens, isn't in power.

Whilst TA isn't responsible for the plans/policies of China and of the U.S.A., he is responsible for the plans/policies of Australia. Short-termism is of no help. There is life beyond the next election.

These two nations are held up as visions to follow.

They are mirages or in China's cases ways of shuting up world opimion and letting the ALP and Greens say China is doing something.

The vision is to be realistic and do what we can.

Stop the stupid stuff and go nuclear as is the main solution put forward to achieve China's goal. 31 new nuclear stations being built along with dams. No problem from the Greens and ALP here support that. But we can't have it here.

In USA most of the decline will come from gas and shale which is fracking.

ALP and Greens once again NO.

So here NO to
1. hydro
2. nuclear
3. CSG even if this is the same as thermal and acceptable method. Hypocracy.

The ALP and Greens are in Government and parliament and maybe the Government in the treasurey benches at the next election so should also be examined for their views.

So I presume you support their course of action.

It ill-behoves you to presume anything about me.

In shorter words, you have no idea.

P.S. TA is known as Dr. NO

I have learnt something in the last three days.

The left just loves being duped.

Obama is promising something that as soon as the Republicans take over again will be dismantled and kicked to the curb.

Oh and the US has the largest fracking program in the world. It makes them less reliant on coal. Easy to start promising reductions if you know you will be less reliant on coal.

China has promised sweet dilly dally fuck all.

Tony should learn a lesson from these two. Pay lip service so everyone else can shut up. He looks like a tool and it's his own fault. Just lie like everyone else!

The left media all falling for it like a bunch of numpties.

Well done Runner.

You seem to be hung up on China or Russia or (insert name of an example of an anti-far-right country).
