To continue the theme of the Soap Dodgers beating God's chosen, Phil "The Power" Taylor has just beaten Hornsby's finest Simon "The Wizard" Whitlock in the Sydney Masters Darts Competition Semi Finals.

NOT HAPPY JAN.

Televised professional darts is followed with a passion in Chez Jarse.

The annual World Championships at the Alexandra Palace competes with the Boxing Day Test and Sydney Hobart updates.

Anyone else follow the darts?

Stoke's finest, Phil Taylor is the Darkness of Darts having won 16 World championships. Awesome.

My favourite memory of darts was in Berlin back in 2009. Overly crowded bar watching the football and sinking beers when an English bloke stands up and announces:

"hey guys, if any of you don't mind could we change the channel to the darts"

Crowd responds in unison: "GET OUT MATE!!"

*5 mins later the bloke quietly slides out the door*

Some people do take it seriously.

Aussie Kyle Anderson has just recorded the perfect game - a 9 dart finish, at the 2014 World Darts Championships.

T20, T20, T20 - 180
T20, T20, T20 - 180
T20, T19, D12 - 141 - GAME

Unfortunately he still lost the match overall and has been knocked out in Round 1.

Our hopes remain with Simon The Wizard Whitlock.

2014 Sydney Darts Masters is at the quarter final stages.

An Aussie is guaranteed to be in the semi finals with Simon The Wizard Whitlock up against Kyle Anderson in a QF match after Kyle knocked highly fancied Dutchman Raymond Von Barneveld out of the competition in the First Round.

Speaking of upsets, gotta love 50 year old Wazza Parry from Invercargill NZ (and sponsored by Invercargill Working Mans Club) knocking World #1 Michael Van Gerwen out of the tournament. Go Wazza.

Live from the Horden Pavilion on Foxtel 2.

Edit:
Kyle "The Original" Anderson flogs The Wizard by 8-3 to progress to the Semi Finals in another giant killing effort.
He now faces defending Sydney Darts Masters champion Phil "The Power" Taylor in the Semi. Huge ask.

Great find @Waiopehu oldboy.

I love a story like that. Knocks off World No 1 ranked professional player and he isn't even King of the Board at work.

49 weeks out of 52 I pretty much forget it exists but for the other three I'm a total snooker freak & this year I'm all in on John Higgins becoming the first guy over 40 to win it since the '70's. His QF match with Judd Trump was just superb, Trump well in front then Higgins peels off three 70+ breaks to level up, a 100+ to force a 25th & deciding frame & a ballsy long shot to set up the match winning break. Just wonderful to watch.

There's actually a pretty good chance an older bloke will win it, Higgins (42) leads Kyren Wilson (26) 13-11 & Barry Hawkins (39) leads Mark Williams (43) 9-7

Williams 17-15 Hawkins so whoever wins the Final will be the oldest champion since Ray Reardon who was 45 when he won it in 1978.

Williams wins 18-16 but a great fightback by Higgins from 7-14 when I called it a night. Great back story for Williams: won it in 2000 & 2003 but hadn't won anything in years so when he failed to qualify last year was going to quit the game. Talked out of it by his wife et voila! World Champion for a third time. Said he'd do the presser naked if he won & he did - but, this being England (specifically Sheffield) I'm sure it was done in an understated manner :)

EDIT: he wore a towel. How velly, velly English (he's Welsh BTW).
