No idea. I'm not suggesting anything dodgy is happening, I just thought it was strange when I saw that article. Main point is that he is playing.

Certainly worthy of further investigation. Maybe someone from Blue Mountains can confirm if he took the field last week as well. Isn't the subbies president from Mountains? Penalty is a 2 week ban I think.

Thomas is listed as a reserve in the game against Lindfield. Not sure if that is just the new system causing a few headaches????

They've added him since Jimmy James broke the scoop. Final teams don't need to be updated till 5.00pm Tuesday so all clubs. Can make multiple changes till then. Would still love to see original team sheet.

Could it be that some Subbies clubs aren't being candidly honest about their team sheets?????!!!

With Redfield gone its looking very open Rouse Hill have recruited well and could be in the mix come finals. I've heard Blacktown lost some of their stronger firsts to Parramatta will be interesting when we play them in a couple of weeks should have somewhere near a full deck for the first time this season

Don't forget about beecroft, 1st grade putting both briars and Macquarie uni to the sword, and the rest of their club looking like their 7 wins from 7 games in the last 2 weeks. And sydney Irish towleling up through the grades as well.

Of course Beecroft will be up there, they are probably favourites on their Div 1 status alone. However Rouse Hills beating last years finalists throws a spanner in the works of my predictions. Could be a lot more open in 1st grade than I thought.

Early days yet but I don't think Blacktown will be quite the same team they were last year. Beecroft clearly intend to make their stay in the lower divisions a short one which is good to see.

3rd Div looks like it may be a 1 team comp. Can anyone get near Redfield??

I'd be waiting until they have played a few more games against last year's more successful 1st grade teams before we hand them the trophy. They have done well in the first two rounds, but it is very very early.

I'm glad to see them doing well, but they are about to run into some teams with good form over the last couple of years.

Yeah I'd be amazed if anyone gets on, considering the last few weeks.

Weird thing is it wouldn't be that bad to play on, really. Just councils getting more and more reluctant to open their grounds.

Canterbury v Harlequins was still on because Wills Ground is already a fucking swamp to start with. Honours look to have been shared - 5-all draw in 2nd Grade. Home side won 3rds, Quins took 1sts.

Irish Blacktown is off. Guess it'll be "team bonding" in the pub instead of footy

Yeah hopefully the weather holds off for next weekend - its Old Boys Day at the Renegades so I might suit up for either Halligan (if we get one) or an early stint in 3rds before coming off to organise 2nds. Depends what my spine thinks.

Hornsby Council called Headen Park off about two days out I reckon. We had a Halligans game scheduled at Yattenden against Hills at 0945 that also went by the wayside.

I would agree with that assessment - while our First Grade is the best I've seen it in a few years (new coach helps) and it was an entertaining contest against the Warriors, a far better mark would be their 2nd Grade who were a bit clueless against us a couple of weeks back. Barely used their backline at all despite, on several occasions, having 4 on 1 overlaps etc.

Anyway Blacktown might be missing a couple of blokes at this point, and their 1sts still have a decent scrum. But I don't think they're going to have the fitness across their Grades to stick with the front runners.

Not that we're innocent on that part: I need to get some of these 2nd Grade forwards dropping kilos before they're where I want them. I and the other 2nd Grade coach are pretty similar in philosophy after training Wednesday night: fat man's track, and don't plan for too much wider. Fitter teams will really give us trouble.

SRU DIV 3: UWS / Hawkesbury Ag vs Epping @ The College Oval (Richmond). The Aggies took all 5 grades vs Epping for a clean sweep (6 grades if you include the boat race - which I personally believe should attract Club Championship points!) 'Twas a good day with all grades played in a fine spirit.

What club are you coaching at?
