You've never watched an AIC game before have you? AIC is not even close to GPS in terms of talent but there are players this year who are amazingly talented and 1-3 which have solid shots at QLD. There is only 1 I know of who will have a certain QLD spot, Tom O'Toole from Padua College who is in year 11 this year but played Combined States last year while in year 10. I'd like to see him pair up with Gavin Luka as the starting props for QLD 1.

As this is a GPS thread I didn't feel the need to mention AIC for 2 reasons:

1) the standard of competition across the board is not as high at the 1st XV level so clearly the pinnacle in Qld Schoolboy Rugby is the GPS comp
2) my U14/15 comment did not say GPS - I meant the age group as a whole wherever good games of rugby can be found - Club, GPS and yes even AIC.

B and G .

Where do you put GT across all age groups starting from say 13's through to Firsts ?

I take it you mean the As and where they will finish??

13A's very hard to call but if our Rugby recruitment is half as good as our Cricket in the age group I would say top 3 at least.

14A's I think will be big improvers this year and expect top 3 with BBC and IGS and closing the gap dramatically.

15A's would love to say second and the only real chance of upsetting NC, have apparently b(r)ought in one of the best League centres in the country. But they will be harpooned by GT's outreach programs and miss plenty of training and possibly a few games.

16A's this is our best age group and possibly the strongest team in the division. Have added a few new boys and all things being equal would take the title. However will lose at least 4 maybe 7 or 8 to the 1st's at times during the season, that will see them drop to 3rd or so maybe lower.

1st XV is a complete mystery could be last could be third depending on how many 16's they blood and just how good those 16's turn out to be.

I would say the overall talent is better than last year but the team is definitely lacking a TeRupe, Moroney type. Lucas, Quillian, Wall, Carrigan and Forsythe will need to have big seasons and not miss any games or it could get ugly.

i watched an AIC team this year. BBC put 40 points on ashgrove -some good players but the size and skill level is widening every year.

trust me . your recruiting in under 13 in rugby is as good as cricket. you got the under 13 premiership in cricket and will go close in rugby.

Nice stir BAG. That will have the Toowong Lexus Drivers confused!
But let's be honest. BBC were never a hope of a premiership last year and only the most deluded of their stoic supporters thought so.

The Bingo Benefactors are hot, hot favorites, closely followed by the Glowmesh Set. BBC could do it, but need absolutely everything to go in their favor on game day. A good start is Ippy and TSS at home in the first 2 rounds, but the trip out to Boondall could deflate the party balloons pretty quick.

too funny . i was out there at Toowong for tennis on Saturday and their tennis and rugby teams are a actually sponsored by Lexus. !!!so good call.Sadly NC tennis came a poor poor 2nd

You seem to be in the know re : the u13 age group . If you rate GT similarly to G and T ...who do you see GT keeping company with in the Top 3?

what about the Blue and White ....Blue and White ?

How are the age groups shaping up ?

Good intel BAG. Looks like the "Barker Effect" has taken hold. New boys in 16s, strong recruitment in 13s. Red & Black are well and truly fighting fire with fire now.

Hopefully what has made GT a great rugby school in the past, (they play for each other and are well coached), does't go out the window with this influence.

From all reports BBC pick a lot of under age teams around scholarship boys and then hope for the best. I think a "hangover" from the "effect" above.

Oh look there's Mike Tyson and a white tiger!!

i think the trick is to bring in the numbers early 13/14 and then add a couple of complimentary players in the later years. This is what GT seems to be trying to achieve, grab some talent at the key intake years and build from there- I truly doubt Baker will have the same free reigns at GT he enjoyed at BBC.

Keeping a strong core of boys who know each other and have experienced the highs and lows of Schoolboy rugby together is key.

The difference between Terrace and other schools is that the have a connection with the school. I know some BBC old boys who were on scholarships and they felt the pressure of being on a scholarship. It's different playing for your school or for your school fees.

Having said that, BBC, Nudgee and TSS to be at the top of the tree come end of season

Under 13 Mid table. We were embarrassed by the touch ups by IGS and BBC-49 nil -Still cant believe it.Lesson learnt.IGS ,BSHS and GT to be top 3.

Under 14 Mid table. Expect between 7 & 9 new players most with RL background. Still expect BBC to dominate-

Under 15. will be undefeated again. Good in 2013 .Brilliant in 2014 with addition of Small,Tau Tau and North Qld winger. A shut-out.

Under 16. This team under performed last year. Not many expected to play in 1sts- so 2nd or 3rd behind TSS.

1st xv. Its all been said. 2 returning Aussie Schoolboys and Pritchard having 3rd year in 1st xv-if those 3 stay fit -NC should e very hard to beat. Mosley also made cut for ARU 7s but pulled out.So at least 4 Qld 1 players.
Game at TSS is the danger game.

Anyone that has knowledge of the age groups care to offer the forum their "1 to 8 " projected placings ?

Could make for some good natured exchange initially , and , throughout the season if you are right or wrong

You game Brave and Game ? Dispell the shades of grey Blue and White ?

I have had a crack at the top 4 off the top of my head, memories from last year and rumours for this year.

Any deeper would require actual research and real knowledge has no place on this forum!!!!

Looking at it though GT seems to feature too much, but I cant seem to drop any out (maybe 16s if they too many in the 1st's) the 15s are really better than 4th and my heart maybe clouding the 14's but I have real belief in those boys.

GSP - i really do hope BBC has a good year there are a few players in the team whose play i really enjoy, but i also think there are a few long on reputation and very short on performance,

I suspect the team will under deliver again this season - due mainly to (lack of) work rate and reliance on performance from some players who simply don't.

Hope I am wrong.

U13 agree with B&G

The U14 comp will be pretty open with some very good teams being assembled. My stab is
14's
BBC
IGS
BSHS
GT
TSS
NC
TGS
ACGS

BGS

NC were ordinary last year and if the rumors of 7 to 9 new players are corrected then maybe a threat and could move up the ladder. Although every NC parent I have spoken to has denied any new blood has been introduced.

Will be a battle royal for the wooden spoon between ACGS and Grammar and I have gone for BGS to get it just because ACGS beat them last Year.

15's NC by a country mile

16's
Will be a pretty good comp. will agree with B&G

As for the Firsts NC, BBC and TSS will battle it out.
