Beecroft are very beatable in 2nds, our lads were beaten by an after the buzzer try by them last week. Don’t put anything past nine and you kick make sure it goes dead.

I'm looking for our backs to contain them to a large degree, and try to pummel them up front.

Their 2nd Grade results have been up and down this year - a few close ones, but then utter shellackings against other teams.

If you weren't there, you missed a nail biter at Latham Park tonight.

Irish got out to a flier, with three early tries due to slick hands and wide running.

The Renegades hit back with a try of their own before halftime, but were guilty of one-out running and not valuing the ball.

The Second half was lit up with two quick tries from the visitors, to leave the score 19-17 in their favour.

It settled into an arm wrestle, with Irish kicking a penalty to go ahead 20-17, then attacking hard at the line, held up twice, and using a strong scrum to put pressure on 5 out from the line. A warning from the ref was given, but no further action taken as the subsequent scrum went through 90 (I told our coach to pick a four leaf clover at that point because it should have been a penalty the other way IMHO).

The Renegades got back upfield then kicked their own penalty to get in front 22-20.

Irish hit back, getting their own penalty awarded about 40 out, nearly in front, but the last play of the game saw the ball drift left.

For 30 minute halves, it was a hell of a game of footy. Rouse Hill were guilty of not playing a team game in the first half, while Irish will rue a couple of dropped balls under pressure late in the second.

No they played on the original date (9 May)

This was a make up fixture that came from the ref calling the First Grade game off due to.... PMT or something. Then the subsequent legal shite.

Those results were

Third Grade Renegades 14-19 Irish
Second Grade Renegades 14-17 Irish

Was a game my blokes could have won but for a shit first half. Same as Harlequins three weeks later - we lost that due to a lack of execution, and great defence by the visitors

Fair enough, well I'll be playing against your blokes this weekend, sounds like it will be a good game! I look forward to it

Jeez - this rain! Might not get on the park this weekend.

As Canterbury and Harlequins already played their games, can Subbies wash out the round?

Well, we're still on Headen Park against Beecroft tomorrow, so maybe this round has a chance of being completed.

Subbies have emailed everyone today and said games WILL be played before finals, even if Sundays have to be done. Which will not please those of us with religiously oriented players.

Well, you can't win games without the ball. You can't win when you have to rearrange your team an hour before kickoff. You can't win when you get told someone isn't playing Firsts, so you move someone up, then they DO play Firsts and you miss out on a player as well.

But ultimately, Beecroft played better than us, because they were fitter and better organised than us in Seconds.

First Grade game was high quality - we go the lead, then gifted the home side two tries. Fuck.

What has happened to Hunters Hill? Flogged in 1st grade and didn't win a grade against Forest. Tough now for BOBS and Hills who will either have a mid week game or a double weekend. plenty of clubs have a tough few weeks with multiple away games and numbers dwindling.

In First Grade Forest played well and we didn't. It's that simple. 2nd Grade was a lot closer than the scoreboard suggested and Colts need to get their mates back from the snow/europe/bordello. I din't get ot watch3's/4's to comment

40-7 is a massive scoreline for a team that was traveling 10-1. Certainly has thrown the 2nd DIV CC race wide open. All of a sudden Forest look like the club most likely to be heading to DIV 1.

For any Beecroft peeps listening in: the guy stretchered off has a fracture in his lower spine according to the specialist. He's responding to facebook requests and in decent spirits.

Thanks again for organising the care and shelter while we were waiting for the ambulance.

First Grade again for Rouse Hill was great - well if you count from about minute 35 to minute 70. Same problem as last week: got a lead (6 pts) then two silly mistakes and two tries to the opposition. Some quality attack by both sides, some not-so-quality defence as well in a 47-39 scoreline.

First Grade are still a mathematical chance to make the finals, but need to overcome Briars (our last home game) and Canterbury, rack up 10 points, and hope that Irish and Blacktown lose both their last games. Unlikely.

Second Grade's finals shot ended with a 29-5 loss where the defence could just not get going at all. Having said that, we had all the early momentum and should have been a man up when one of our blokes copped a late shoulder after kicking ahead. Ref was so out of his depth he didn't even give us the scrum option inside their 22. And he let them charge the kick even though there were a couple of them out on the field. I know reffing isn't an easy job, but FFS.

But ultimately the season failed because our cohesion just wasn't good enough, particularly on defence. There were a couple of games we should have won with bonus points, but we were denied by some poor option taking.

So, while we've got two weeks to fuck up someone else's season, its time to start thinking about off-season and next year.

My wife was less than sympathetic when I told her that rugby would be over in two weeks as we'd lost our last finals shot "Oh well, its a shame you've put in all that effort for it to go nowhere".

What the fuck don't women get about rugby?

I see Beecroft 2nd Grade finally lost a game today - at home to Blacktown.

It was funny when I was running the line for 1st Grade last week. At one point, during a break I asked some of their sideline guys whether they were pissed off they'd been dropped three divisions.

"Oh, had to happen mate. Needed to recover. Our First Grade are alright but the rest are a bit shaky"

Yeah. The 2nd grade who had just beaten my 2nd grade 41-zip in the mud, and were 11 from 11 at that point, having given up less than 50 points...

o_O

Anyway, from getting 3rd Grade into the finals last year (which was due to unusual circumstances) and having both 1s and 2s finish practically bottom, this year we gave ourselves a shot at semis for 2 Grades and might yet make it with 1.

It'll be a better year in 2016, when Subbies wake the fuck up to themselves and put Beecroft back in 2nd or 3rd Div where they belong. Two full rounds of Championship points ahead, plus running 1st in every Grade? Tell 'em they're dreaming!
