Reckon Subbies will definitely be regretting the decision to allow Beecroft to drop as far as they did.

They have now made a rod for their back with clubs that are struggling and choose to drop down 2-3 divs to 'rebuild', as opposed to dropping one and just surviving.

Can't help wondering if our situation at Kings would be better if we did that a few years ago, and chalked up a few more wins with less teams in a smaller pool.
.

What will they allow Old Iggies to,do this year if
they wish to do the same? Big weekend for Lindfield and Forest in 2nd Div. Which team can throw the most games so to not go up to 1st div and certain annihilation.

Redfield are rumoured to be a bit shy about going up as well if they get up against Waverley this weekend. Can't blame them either - jumping another division would be a stretch.

Interesting that you say that HeavyD!

It makes sense, as they have a limited playing base already- Redfield is a small school and there is no shortage of clubs in the Dural area.

Waverly are a no brainer to go up for mine. Should be in 1st div given their location and potential player base. Fielding 5 teams on a regular basis this season.

I think we should be moving away from a promotion/relegation system based on results, and move to one based on numbers.

Numbers and results can be closely correlated in a lot of cases, though there are no guarantees they'll be consistent into a new year.

We've got a shitload of talent, and haven't had to forfeit a game this year - haven't even looked like it, yet we'll be in 8th in every Grade, and effectively last with Convicts and Merrylands dropping 3rd Grade.

Its getting it on the park effectively that is the thing. Our First Grade have led games against all the top 5, but only beat two of them. Got done by better teamwork with so many blokes who work night shift and can't make training that we didn't get better there.

Next year we've agreed that training is paramount, but then one coach brought a few blow-ins and they went straight to a higher grade instead of doing their time in 3rd Grade off the bench, like it should be.

Would hazard a guess that the (Redfield) committee would be very unlikely to make a move up another division. We'll see how it pans out this weekend with Waverley.

An interesting scenario subbies may face. Potentially no clubs wishing to go up from Div 2 or 3 and multiple clubs across the DIV's wishing/needing to go down to survive and rebuild.

More than 40K.

In big news today: Merrylands racked up their 4th and 5th offences recently so have been booted from the competition, effectively immediately.

Irish get forfeits in 1st and 2nd Grades tomorrow (Merrylands had already dropped 3rd Grade), which means for Irish:

they will be in the finals for 1st Grade and play either Canterbury or Harlequins in Week 1.

It means their 2nd Grade can't be unseated from 2nd place (superior number of wins for Irish over Briars).

So they'll be reasonably strong for Finals with a week off, and will probably train hard this weekend I reckon :)

Is that 4th and 5th Red Card offence?

Huge news and great for our second grade! However it does show that Subbies are willing to make an example of lower division teams but a certain Div 1 club was able to get away with 14 red cards without being sanctioned this heavily. The same thing that happened your blokes versus us in 1sts would never happen in a higher division either.

"established offences" - doesn't mention cards. Thing is I only see four in their team lists (one of which was a player receiving two yellows), so there must have been another citing.

Well, we wouldn't have got such a weirdo ref I think is the point.

Drummoyne wasn't it? Absolutely smashed the record for red cards.

Subbies can't entertain many other options from where I'm sitting.

Further to this point, I reckon next year it'll look something like this, for stability's sake if nothing else:

Div 1 (8): Colleagues, Mosman, Drummoyne, Balmain, St Pats, Knox, Shammies, Brothers

Div 2 (10): Iggies, Lindfield, Forest, Hills, Barker, Newport, Hunters Hill, Blue Mountains, UNSW, Waverley

Div 3 (8): Redfield, UWSH, Epping, Oatley, SnIves, KOBs, Beecroft, Hawkesbury

Div 4 (8): Canterbury, Harlequins, Blacktown, Irish, Briars, Rouse Hill, Mac Uni, Convicts/Merrylands

Division 5 has to be re-established some how with Convicts or Merrylands (maybe both) dropping and some teams coming up from each conference.

Renegades crashed to three defeats yesterday at Canterbury. Most galling one perhaps was second grade being held to nil despite some decent enterprise on attack. Just don't have the big second rowers to truck it up at this stage, so recruitment off-season will be important.

Firsts again got the lead with 10 to go but couldn't close it out through a combination of ill-discipline and poor ball security. Lineout was also creaky.

But I ran into @whaleberry and the Wallabies won, so not all bad ;)

Rouse Hill Grades finished 7th, 7th, and 8th. We made 3rd Grade finals last year but overall we were in the hunt until three weeks ago, so its an improvement. If it wasn't for the fucking bullshit 2 point penalty against us from the referee we'd have been 6th in Firsts.

Finals for 4th Div look like this (winner of 1 v 2 gets the week off):

FIRST GRADE:
Beecroft (1) v Canterbury (2)
Harlequins (3) v Irish (4)

SECOND GRADE:
Beecroft (1) v Irish (2)
Briars (3) v Canterbury (4)

THIRD GRADE:
Beecroft (1) v Briars (2)
Blacktown (3) v Canterbury(4)

Hard to see Beecroft losing 1st or 2nd Grade from here. Thirds might be a bit more open depending on how they've qualified their talent.

Congrats to the Redfield boys for their minor premiership in First Grade and Club Championship. There is an odd symmetry to the tables there:

First Grade: Redfield = 1st
Second grade: Redfield = 2nd
Third Grade: Redfield = 3rd

Fourth Grade break the pattern, missing out in 5th spot. Still, massive effort to go up a division and still make finals. Well done.

Pfitzy

George Gregan (70)
We finished 7th in Fourth Div club championship, or at least I assume we do now Merrylands have been kicked out. Otherwise 8th.

As Second Grade Coach, it was disappointing that we could only beat Mac Uni, Convicts, and Blacktown. Dropping games at home against Irish, Harlequins, and Blacktown, as well as an away game against Briars that we really should have nailed (and would have drawn at least if the ref allowed our scrum to dominate) let us down. Home ground points especially can't be squandered.

So next year there are plans in place strictly for training = playing and doing some recruiting in a few key areas.

If you live in or around Kellyville and want to come to the best social club in Sydney, then you're more than welcome. We'll be running touch footy teams in the off-season as well.
