Yes - across the Top 4 Divisions, 3 Grades should be compulsory.

Colts should be compulsory for Divs 1 and 2. Colts below those divisions are run in their own competition.

If anyone chooses to field a 4th Grade, it should first be made up of Masters players, then any 5th Grade game is treated like Halligans. Neither 4s or 5s contribute to club championship.

That way, promotion and relegation can stick for the top 4 Divisions, clubs are under less stress for being successful, and the competition will even out overall.

Can somebody actually tell me the truth about what happened on Saturday between Colleagues and Brothers? Original results had 28-0 to Colleagues in all grades except 1st grade. Now it looks like the only grade they didnt play was 2nd grade.

What is the actual truth of the matter? Not a good look to have all the results in the paper as 28-0!!!!!!!!

Colleagues would have been ringing in the results, right? Maybe they fucked up.

Alternatively, if you forfeit one grade, all grades below it must forfeit, so maybe there was a miscommunication on that as well.

Take it as a sign of respect your 1st grade side have been the best team all year!

Looks like Forests' chances just snow dived with Craig Thomas getting rubbed out until 2016 due to a suspension from the weekend.

The Integrity Commission have had their way - one way or another ;)

Yet Pierre Hola is still playing?

Confirming that Brothers played 4th and 3rd grade, got belted, so they forfeited 2nds which meant the retroactive forfeit scores for 3rd and 4th grade.

**** If i was in charge i would let Iggies go to Div 2, make Brothers stay up and promote Forest and Lindfield. The problem for clubs promoted to Div 1 is the jump in standard and a lack of winnable games. If you had Brothers, Forest, Lindfield and Petersham in the same comp then there is a chance for clubs to win games and keep the morale up.

Unless Subbies is willing to look at the number of grades, neither Forest or Lindfield would survive. If you look at the results, the teams from those Clubs that didn't do well, got smacked.

Forest Colts 2 wins from 14
Forest 3rd's 3 wins from 14

Lindfield 1st's 4 wins from 14
Lindfield 4th's 5 wins from 14

Both 1sts and colts victories are critcal to even passable success in higher Divisions. Add the need for an extra team from both these Clubs and the extra competitveness for all grades in the higher Div and you would have both "Doing a Beecroft" within 12 months

Let Iggies come down by all means, but Brothers have a very competitive 1st Grade. Plus, this is the bed that money made them, so let them lie in it. They didn't care about their lower grades on the rise, why should other Clubs make sacrifices because of Brother's decisions.

Pfitzy's right make only 1's-3's plus colts compulsory in Div 1 and 2 then lower the compulsory number of grades down the divisions......Here's where my 2 cents comes in.

Makes the Cowboy Cup the main Subbies prize with serious financial reward. That way teams will make the effort to develop their clubs and look after the social players without punishing those that can't raise the lower grades. It rewards strong cultured clubs rather than punishing the weak.

Clearly some of the ideas thrown out by people on GnG are worth consideration..look at the numbers of teams in each Division as a starting point and consider creating a "Masters" competition, but played at the same ground as the Club's other teams each week.

As one of those said "Masters" a lot of assumptions have been made about Club's lower grades. While the older players tend to congregate in 3rd and 4th grade, it would be naive to assume the teams would be entirely made up of them. You take these guys out for a separate comp and you would find it very hard to field competitive sides below 2nd grade in several clubs.

Then factor in what's a "master"? over 35's? Using the infamous BOB's 4th Grade, these were/are older guys, formerly 1st graders with the ability but not the time or interest to compete at higher grades. I doubt many of them would qualify as over 35's. An BOB's are by no means the only club to do this. While a laudable idea, under current structures a Masters comp would further deplete already stuggling Clubs.

Anyway, there are a huge number of Golden Oldies teams running around Sydney and beyond that means the reason these guys are not playing "Masters" is because they love their Club and the more competitive nature of the rugby there.

Rugby central you are correct. Many of the blokes in the Bobs 4th Grade team at the time were only 31/32 with many of the guys having played 1st grade for a long period of time.

Even looking through the program on the subbies website at other clubs and divisions you can see former first grade players playing down the grades.

Only solution is to reduce the number of grades that clubs have to supply!

And that's awesome for someone in a club where they just get to toddle around and play 60 minutes and maybe wrap up a few CC points.

But when you're playing for a club that's struggling and you're getting the shit beaten out of you, its less fun.

"Forcing" Masters as the 4th Grade is only about as unfair as forcing 4th or 5th Grade at all.

The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

The structure is broken. It needs review.

So Seagull Butler you've had half the season to post that video proof that Shaka (Darren Firmin) played against Newport back in round 5. I haven't seen it yet?

I figure you won't post it because I know from multiple people that he didn't play. But you did say that you have the video, so I would love to be proven wrong.

Irish in firsts and seconds and Canterbury in 3rds are the lambs to the slaughter next week. 3 great games today all decided by a score

Who's Darren Firmin?

It was pages and pages ago.
I thought everyone had gotten over it.

Division 3 grand finals see a rematch of the major semi in first grade when UWSH take on Redfield. HAC might have the edge after a big comeback in the major semi, but Redfield can turn on the points when they need to - just ask Waverley from yesterday.

Second grade sees Waverley advance to take on UWSH. Both teams put big scores on Redfield in the last two weeks, but will probably need to change their tactics a little, as both dominated in the forwards.

In Third Grade, Epping will be looking to claim its third Campbell Cup against heavy favorites, Oatley. Oatley dominated Epping in their last start, but the Epping boys have a never give up attitude towards this season.

In fourth grade, Kings Old Boys will be hoping for third time lucky when they face Waverley. It's another major semi rematch, which KOBs won in a canter, but they will be wary as they have been in this position before.

Four cracking matches. Get out to Merrylands RSL Park (Granville Park) next Saturday to check it out.

From my recollection, you have to fill from the top down. So if you forfeit seconds, then all grades under that forfeit whether they play or not.

Forest - 4 yellows and a red in 2 weeks of finals. All when defending their line.

I think first grade BOBs vs Forest is going to be very interesting! Forest nearly didn't make the finals and despite all the cards are 80 minutes away from the title!

HH must be pissed! Lost 3 in a row by 5 points in total and their season is over!

Hope Barker get up next Saturday but Forest are on a roll
