And to think that not too long ago, certain forum members were calling for Carmichael to be appointed CEO of the ARU.

At least all he can do is ruin the poor Reds. Imagine if he was the top dog.

I was certainly a Carmichael fan until I realised he had nothing to do with Links appointment and let RG's mates recruit him from the Force.

I'm still gob smacked that this can occur at this level. Even At clubland while they would appoint the guy based on his mateship, no one would survive a renewal (coincidently Souths appoint a coach on merit for the first time in decades and look at the results).

If Dick ever holds a seminar on job interview techniques, sign me up. People would fly in from all over the world. Maybe that's how they'll subsidize the loss of membership income.

I think it was his job application that got him the job. They didn't interview anyone.

It's his application writing workshop I'd be ready to pay any money to go to.

Went to write a big email explaining my decision not to renew to the QRU but decided the negative thoughts weren't worth the effort.

Clearly the blokes at the top have no clue what they are doing, nor are they willing to listen to those of us who invest our time and money into the franchise.

Absolutely sucks being a Reds fan right now.

A bit of a lengthy one, but I'm OK to share my email to the Reds. Take it as you will, but I don't think I've ever been this pissed at a sporting club....

""Dear QRU/Reds

Firstly, I'm sure you have been flooded with messages in regards to your recent announcement, and I'm aware that the poor guy having to answer all these emails has nothing to do with it.

My issue is not with Richard Graham. I wish him no ill will personally, I'm sure he is a great guy. As a coach however, he is not at the standard required for Super Rugby.

The issue I have is with the incompetence being demonstrated on the executive level. The furthering of the "Boys Club" is laughable, and something that most would roll their eyes at.

However, the big problem is the complete slap in the face given to Reds fans. The complete lack of transparency shown in the process is unprofessional, and for an organization this size, unacceptable.

Do you expect us, the fans, to support the decision made?

I want this next part to be clear. Please pass this on to Carmichael & McCall...

YOU ARE HERE FOR US, WE HAVE NO OBLIGATION TO YOU

Why do professional sporting clubs exist? Entertainment. Entertainment for the fans. Pro Sport is a rollercoaster, and that's why we love it.

Supporters, such as myself, live and breathe Reds, and have done since we were kids. We have supported through the dark days, and through the good. We are the reason there is a Queensland Reds.

We can handle poor results, that's part of sport. But when the organization essentially does nothing to fix a clearly obvious problem, and expects the fans to just agree with it, that's when there is issue.

I'm sure you can read (literally read the comments) between the lines here. You have dug your own grave. You had the opportunity to fix it, or at the very least provided transparency, but now it's past the point of return.

It is a punch in the gut that players such as Holemsie, Slipps, Simmo & Gilly, who give everything to the Reds, will be playing infront of tiny crowds with a small members base. They deserve better. So much so that I'd be encouraging that they look elsewhere.

So what's going to happen when crowds and memberships fall, along with the inevitable poor results? The sponsors drop next right? Where does the cash flow come from? So expenditure gets cut? And I know what gets cut first.

Grassroots. It will be the one who suffers. As it always has been, the private school boys club, will ignore the grassroots.

I'm a diehard Easts Tiger fan, and it is horrible to think that when the Reds inevitably get stuck in financial rut due to their own incompetence, that clubland will suffer.

For Richard Graham, no hard feelings, you are passionate and you are taking your opportunity to continue your career. It's nothing personal, you are just not what is required.

For Carmichael & McCall, and any others involved, you have lost a huge portion of your supporters, and everyone will suffer as a result.

For the players, we still love you and wish you the best, but the best you will get from us is watching on the TV this coming season. Gilly, Slips, Holemsie and co, keep doing us proud.

Kind Regards, a former Queensland Reds supporter.""

Again, take it as you will, I'm sure some will disagree.

Just for shits and giggles, I have been trying to think of a similar situation that could happen in another job/industry/ whatever and I can't.

It's just staggering.
The sons of Pol Pot, Sadaam Husein or Ghadafi probably get second, third, fourth.....infinate chances.

Sadaam's son was coach of the Iraq soccer team and strung them up and beat the player feet with batons when they lost.

I saw the email address and figured it was set up with the intention that it will never again be opened. Not even the unpaid intern will be checking that one. Would like to hear if anyone gets a response.

I'll let you know.

Vidot is a good metre-eater but does make the odd bad error too.

He's led the Broncos for metres gained in 5 of the 8 matches he's played so if they're looking for someone to dent the line with damaging runs, he can definitely do it but wouldn't be paying top $$ for him at this stage.

Coming out of contract now so wouldn't be surprised if he was getting shopped around the Super League clubs too.
