Pfitzy. Excuse my ignorance, but in the last few seasons the only lower division club from the lower north shore that i can think of that is no longer with us would be Killara/West Pymble. Am i missing anyone? Seaforth maybe?

The point I was making is that some clubs have gone, and some are never likely to get out of lower divisions. Its a natural consequence of so many clubs trying to fit into that area, particularly with the changing demographics of the region.

Chatswood were 4th Division only a few years ago. Lane Cove as well. KWP are goneski, Roseville bounce up and down depending on what competitions are available, and Brothers, while successful, are now stretched to breaking and look like they might crash a bit next year. Forest have had their troubles too a bit further north, and slightly to the west, Dundas are history.

Lindfield are doing well, but have they ever really threatened to grow beyond being a solid Div 2 club in that area?

Lower divisions is a hard slog - out our way Norwest as well as Oakhill OB have disappeared from the adult ranks, while to the south St George went from finalists in all grades to zero pretty quickly. Bankstown, Rockdale, Notre Dame, Fairvale (who became the Vales), Liverpool, even Canterbury have been on a seesaw for a while.

Northwest Sydney is ripe for decent adult sport that isn't loig, and features some strength in places like Redfield OB and Hills Rugby, but the local clubs can only do so much.

We're into U6 and U7 and will add more next year, but its a long road to Colts and requires a lot of input from people who just don't have time to deal with Subbies' white collar take on everything, particularly parents. We've got guys who can't train at night, because they're shift workers, and often pick up extras on the weekend so can't always turn up on time for Third Grade.

Makes it bloody hard to lock in a no-train-no-play policy for higher grades in particular, so we get beaten in the last 10 minutes - we led Beecroft, Canterbury, and Sydney Harlequins at each of their home grounds in the back end of the season but just couldn't finish off because the polish you get from training your teams together isn't there.

Then you have issues building depth because guys who do train get the shits that they're being put into Third Grade. Hopefully we can turn that around next year and keep everything moving in line with our club culture, which is the best I've seen it since the club started in 2007.

Always interested to see which team the eliminated clubs get behind on grand final day.
Barraclough GF is this weekend, BOBS vs Forest. I wonder who all the other Div 2 sides would rather see win the trophy..

Last year it felt like there was a lot of support for Newport when they played Brothers.

If you mean the top 4 of our 1st div 1st grade could mix it with 2nd grade Shute sheild id agree with you.

In my opinion, I would say the Top 4 teams in Kentwell Cup would be competitive and finish roughly mid table in 2nd grade of premier rugby. Looking at Syd Uni, Manly, Randwick, Eastwood etc, Balmain, Drummoyne, Mosman and Colleagues would lose to those teams by bonus point scores. Against Parra, Wests, Warringah and Easts, they would be competitive, win a couple, lose a couple and fit in that area. But a few injuries and having to bring 2nd grade players up against them, they would lose.

In fourth grade, Kings Old Boys will be hoping for third time lucky when they face Waverley. It's another major semi rematch, which KOBs won in a canter, but they will be wary as they have been in this position before.

Four cracking matches. Get out to Merrylands RSL Park (Granville Park) next Saturday to check it out.

Getting a bit nervous now. We've beaten Waverley three times this season, but they are a bloody good side. It's my first GF too, can't wait!!!

Whoever says this shit doesn't matter needs to get their head checked!

Good luck to your guys too Prodigy, been a great year for the club and you deserve some silverware. Same goes for Tommy and Redfield.

Good luck to anyone else lucky enough to play tomorrow too.

I'm with you on that one. Getting the jitters. I'll be down there early, might try and get over for a quick handshake and good luck.

Best of luck to everyone playing tomorrow. Premierships in any sport is part of why we play the game. Great memories and the pub after a win is even better!

Our game was a belter. We had the bulk of possession and territory but Waverley defended bloody well. 7-5 to them at HT but our five-eighth knocked over a couple of PGs in the second half to get us the biscuits. Could have easily gone the other way though. A great feeling!!

Unlucky @prodigy in 3rds, that Oatley side were very hard to beat. Almost impossible, probably. Great effort to reach the GF though.

And well done to Tommy and Redfield in 1s. Great reward for a great season.

Looks like Forests' chances just snow dived with Craig Thomas getting rubbed out until 2016 due to a suspension from the weekend.

Yeah, big congrats mate. Was able to watch bits and pieces of your game and it definitely looked like a cracker.

Oatley were just too good yesterday. It was always going to be an uphill battle with the talent that they were able to put out on the park.

Congrats to Redfield. I wasn't sure how they would deal with the physicality of div 3 but they have done extremely well as the new boys. They'll go along way, I reckon.

Gotta tip my hat to the Waverley supporters as well. Last week, we have it to them at Millner, this week they came back with a vengeance. Good to see some friendly good natured banter between two clubs. Hope it helps develop a good rivalry in the future.

Cheers. Quite a remarkable Grand Fianl in 1st Grade. ROBR looked like running away with it until UWS clawed back to lock it up at 24 ALL with less than 10 to go. Then three tries in the last 5 mins decided the outcome.

Really enjoyed the move up this year. Better competition, better standard and better social aspect. Also - almost zero biff which is back change from the lower divisions.

Story so far:

Judd Cup - St Pats 17 def Colleagues 15

Barbour Cup (Colts) - Colleagues 24 def Mosman 19

Burke Cup - Mosman 23 def Colleagues 21

Some close scoring games today. Colleagues will be mildly disappointed with the three close losses (5 points deficit in total). But they got the bigger 2 fish.

Last game of the season kicking off.
