The NSW ISA and CAS seasons have been done and dusted, and the AAGPS competition has 4 return matches to go. The Sydney Colts Grand Final is this weekend, and the Sydney Junior Club season is heading towards their finals which start on 30 August.

Queensland AIC competition was done and dusted a long time ago and the GPS have a few rounds left. The Qld Junior Club season is also starting to draw to a close.

The good news is that many Colts clubs start preseason training in Early November, as does the various State Under 20 squad selection processes.

The Class of 2014 had a few lads play in Jnr RWC for Australia, Samoa, Tonga or Fiji. Nine have played in Sydney First Grade this year, with a couple in the ACT also playing First Grade footy, and at least one doing similar in QPR and the same in Dewar Cup in Victoria. About 14 from the Class of 2014 have been named in 2015 NRC squads and the Reds have a few of them on a variety of contracts for 2016. Who from the Class of 2015 will match this?

Two young men will be playing NRC rugby while still attending School, one for the Sydney Stars and another with the Perth Spirit squad. No chocolates for guessing which club Theo Strang will be at in 2016 and it is anyone’s guess where Nicholas Joost will end up next year.

As always, for many 2015 rep and 1st XV players, next year will be a dose of cruel reality. They will be playing with and against lads a year or two older and more hardened in that time. The older players will have the benefit of an extra year or two of gym work also - applied to an older body. The crowd on the sidelines watching the games will be numbered in the 10's not many 100's.

The step from Schoolboy rugby to Colts sorts some schoolboy stars out. The Rock Stars will also discover that some of their contemporaries will be late developers in their Colts years and that some of these will catch up or even pass them in the pecking order.

A number of the NSW Schoolboy Association Rep players are already in the Colts Machine playing either a full season, or a moonlighting role when there was no school footy on. While some may change, it is fairly likely that the following 2015 Colts Schoolboy players would be registering with the same club in 2016:

Eastwood: Tim ANSTEE (AICES), Daniel LONERAGAN (CCC)
Gordon: Sam REIMER (CHS)
Manly: Dylan PEPPERNELL (CHS), Cyprus TUTUNOA (CHS 2014)
Northern Suburbs: Jayden STOKES (AICES)
Parramatta: Isaac RABUATOKA (AICES), Jacob BRISTOWE (CHS)
Penrith: Hamish MILNE (CCC)
Randwick: Brendan NEVILLE (CCC),Patrick PELLEGRINI (CCC, NSW II), Sama MALOLO (CHS, NSW II, Aust Barbars), Jordan IEREMIA (CHS, CS), Netane MASIMA (CHS, CS)
Southern Districts: Max FREEMAN (CCC), Evander FILEMU (CHS), Samuel IUTA (CHS), William (Viliami) LATU (CHS, NSW I, Aust Barbars), Storm PASFIELD (CHS)
Warringah:Luke MILHAM (CHS), Lachlan ROSE (CHS), Tim ANSTEY (CAS) - Still at School in 2016
West Harbour: Austin LATU (CCC, CS), Koheleti VAITAIKI (CHS, NSW II)

The Clipboards have been working their magic at the various JRU and Schools representative tournaments, and the Usual Suspects in Syderney and BrisVegas have already locked in a few rockstars for 2016 if the word on the street is to be believed. Letters of invitation have been sent to many rep and 1st XV players, some of these have been standard form letters, and some are very personal. Clubs have started to publish details of their 2016 Colts Information Nights on their web sites and Facebook pages, and all this is happening well before final Year 12 exams.

Do forum members have definite information on which clubs the Class of 2015 1st XV and Schoolboy rep players will be going to?

It may also be useful to use this thread to record the movement of boys leaving Heavensgame and choosing to play Fivekick.
Will the rumoured demise of the Under 20 Carmakers Cup in 2016 impact on the numbers crossing to the Dark Side?

Please try to limit the maybes or rumours particularly those with where you name specific players, because these forums are widely read, and inaccurate reporting or rumour mongering can be harmful on a number of levels.

In the meantime, good luck to the Class of 2015 with their final examinations. Enjoy your Rugby but work hard on your plan B. Remember that there are only about 150 professional contracted players in Australian Super Rugby.

The rookie salary in Super Rugby is about $80k, with very few on “big packages” like Israel Folau, Matt Giteau or Quade Cooper. The average professional sporting career across all professional sports worldwide is less than 4 years.

A trade or professional qualification is for life, and there are plenty of 50-60 year old plumbers, doctors, lawyers, teachers, physiotherapists, scientists, electricians, accountants and IT workers around that have been on packages of >$80k for most of their working lives.

Correct me if I am wrong but the best possible prediction someone could give as to where these boys will be playing their first colts season is to which club is closest to their final year of school.

For example
GPS-The Scots College(Eastern Suburbs Rugby Club)
CAS-Knox Grammar(Gordon Highlanders Rugby)
ISA-St Augustines(Manly Marlins Rugby)

I will correct you. As many Scots boys seem to end up at Randwick or The Corporation as Beasts. Next Year I predict that Rats will get quite a few Augies boys. This year quite a few Augies boys ended up at Gordon.

Historically, some Knox Old Boys have made major contribution to The Corporation - Tummy and Ed Carter.

As some schools attract kids from many postcodes, so will their graduates end up playing for clubs outside the postcode where their school is located.

Waverley is very close to the Eastern Suburbs Rail Line. It is logistically rather easy for a lad from the Shire to attend Waverley College - 1 Train and a bit of a walk than for them to go to Newington or Scots - 2 buses or 1 or 2 trains and a bus or a walk.

Knox and Shore are well positioned public transport wise. Rugby Clubs are not.

The King's School is located in the Mighty 2 Blues "Catchment" area. How many former Kings Old Boys are playing for The M2B?

Not relevant to the class of 2015 but interesting anyway. I lifted this off the Oakhill Rugby fb page posted a few days ago.

A great achievement by past old boys at Parramatta Rugby. The following players all played 1st grade for the two blues this year.
Daniel Tamone 2007
Nicholas Blacklock 2009
Pat Searson 2009
Peter Brush 2010
Louis Musson 2011
Aaron Blacklock 2012
Luke Casey 2012
Evan Tuckwell 2012
James Holden 2012

4 Benildus House Captains
3 First Fifteen Captains
1 Vice First Fifteen Captain
Well Done Boys

He played his junior rugby there, so it wouldn't surprise me. But then again so did Hutchison and he's now with Randwick.

Randwick already has such #10 talents as GPS alumni, Horowitz and Deegan. My mail is that RollAway's tweety bird is singing the correct tune. Expect that a number of McGregor's current year 12 mates at Riverview will be joining him at Gordon.

wow, I have also heard Piroddi from Newington College this year is considering Gordon.

It was bad enough when I thought he'd play with Randwick, but there seems to be a fair bit of talk that some of the tall timber from Scots and Joeys are heading to Coogee, so maybe he's decided to head elsewhere to avoid the selection battles......of course, there's always a place at Sthn Districts.......

Harry Johnston Holmes - Aus Schools to Sydney Uni
Jock Barry - AICES - Stourbridge RC UK ( gap year )

Curious of hearing Joey's Tom Wright signed with Manly Sea Eagles and has quoted from the SMH "As a young kid, to be travelling the world at 18, going to Las Vegas and Japan would be pretty amazing. The reason I turned it down is it's a bit of a party lifestyle. It's obviously a serious career and is full on but in terms of long-term security it didn't offer a lot, as opposed to Manly and the pathway they provided. 'Party Lifestyle ' ???? Disappointing. I also hear he is recovering from an ACL

Clearly it appears mungo ball is more adept at better positioning the dubious value proposition of their code in comparison to Rugby. Something to be said for having a governing body that is flush with funds and well paid talent development managers (read spin doctors) who are focused on the critical 18-20 year old talent pipeline.
