Both the NRC teams named squads of 37. By my calculations, the NRC squads for this round (4) have featured 10 players from outside those initial squads in the combined 46 named. 9 of 23 for Country are outside the squad. In fact through 4 rounds 23 of the 92 names listed for country (4 games of 23) have been from outside the 37 man squad. 25%.

Given the issues with the Reds over the last 2 years, what on earth is going on at Ballymore? Are they training on an active army mortar range?

Maybe some of the players who are signed are not actually better than the unsigned players in the same way that the coaches of the NRC teams are better than the coach of the Reds.

The contracts are in place but this does not mean it is the best option

ala Duncan P?

Duncan will miss the majority of the NRC with his 4th head knock this season. Injury re definitely not helping him but has proved to be handy when played at 12. IMO would handle if given a chance in that position.

As an aside, if you want to get a Reds player down to a junior day or Rookies to Reds, I can't recommend Duncan highly enough. He turned up to ours early, stayed late and was great with both the kids and parents.

I think that Duncan looked quite good when I saw him play.

I was also thinking of players like Daley. I don't know the contract situation of the other props in the two teams but think it might be possible to find a prop outside the squad that may have more potential.

the Nabuli signing is finally official. pretty dissapointing when plenty of outside backs have been performing well in the NRC.

Gibbon and Laloifi and definitely worth considering from City. Laloifi had issues last year due to his lack of size, but he's doing better this year avoiding getting himself into situations where that's an issue.

From Country, there's Perese too, who's just a kid.

agree with that. From all reports we've secured Perese and Gibbon isn't far behind, which is great. I'm not as convinced as Junior's Super Rugby potential, so am happy to have Nabuli.

I am adamant we don't need Vidot.

AFAIC Perese is a future Wallaby and should be signed asap!

Feels so good to say it out loud. The kid looks very bloody good.

absolutely shocking. he can pull off some decent tries, like the one he scored on the weekend, but hes worse then Jesse Mogg when it comes to tackling.

Signing Eto has shut the door on Vidot... I'm glad the Reds didn't sign Vidot

Also mentions that Tualagi will be out until March with a major knee operation

SIGNING the finishing power of St George Illawarra winger Eto Nabuli has shut the door on Bronco Daniel Vidot making a code switch to the Queensland Reds.

Coach Richard Graham made it clear on Tuesday it was a choice, not a double act, the Reds were after when shopping for a big-bodied finisher from the NRL.
“We wanted more size for our backline, someone to break tackles and create things around that which Eto has shown,” Graham said.
