And itz been 75% in the RWC. Mitchell's has been 65% so for every one-on-one advantage you may think you get against Savea, I'd fancy the same against him - eapecially if he has to mark NMS

Hardly comparable half the players savea has been up against this World Cup would struggle to make a super rugby team.

If Folau's not 98% fit I sincerely hope he's not selected. In that case Beale must start and a reserve back spot becomes available. The attacking capabilities of the ABs back 3 scare shit out of me, maybe Horne's the man for the job. He does cover 11/12/13/14 so he's a pretty useful reserve.

I'm sure this thread will be looked at a bit over the next few days :), so this is as good a place as any to ask.

If my back is up to it I am thinking of heading into sydney to watch the game with a few mates. Specifically balmain, but that is not too important.

Does anyone know of the available venues/pubs/watering holes that will be playing the game live? No doubt a few drinks will be consumed, so taxis are our friend hence it does not have to be balmain specifically.

Is there any ARU initiative for a 'big screen venue' for example?

Anyways, would be great for the sydneysiders in the know to let us (all) know what is available and where.

perhaps for melbourne/bris etc etc might be good for others.

Nothing in Balmain that I know of. Three Weeds, Dicks, Exchange are the usual culprits but pretty sure they are not staying open.

I saw a billboard advertising this mornings game closer to Newtown. Can't remember the name of the pub though.

Remember as well that the City and Cross are dead due to the lock down laws. Somewhere in Newtown would be my start on the hunt. Gymea and Harlequin are advertising it, don't know the pub though nor if it's just replays.

The Balmain Hotel on Mullens Street's the watering hole for the Balmain Rugby Club, give them a try.

We can't drop Folau... give the guy a break. He breaks the line like no other player we have in the team and he has done that consistently for the last 2 years. Beale has been sharp for some weeks now but he's a completely different type of player to Folau.

Falou still managed to break the line last night and teamed up well with Kuridrani. God damn that was good to see those 2 blokes carving up together for once.

If he knocked those kicks off his game wouldn't have been nearly as bad. Plus another weeks rest on the ankle should do him good. How rarely does he play 2 poor games in a row? Never until now.

Ummm...I don't think Mitchell's opposition has been that much better.

Group of death, ring any bells? Followed by Scotland and Argentina. Meanwhile old mate savea had to deal with the rugby juggernauts that are Tonga, Romania and Georgia. Only quality team in the pool was Argentina while you played a woeful France in the quarters then SA in the semis

Give yourself a uppercut if you think the quality of opposition savea faced is similar to what mitchell has. Savea has had overall a bad year defensively, bumping up the stats by playing pool games against a bunch of minnows doesn't fix that

watching the replays on the computer monitor it did seem a bit iffy. However, when they replayed it on TV during cup run over, it was as clear as day that McCaw actually moved his elbow deliberately around the head and made absolutely no contact at all.

It looks like that because his elbow is invisible.

Savea strikes me as a wee bit of a flat track bully.

I don't know, maybe it's the domestic assault charges or the insights from teammates that he's prone to throwing tantrums, but when things aren't going his way I don't think he's necessarily the best proponent of changing his fortunes. Graft and hardwork, etc.

Not for second am I doubting just how fucking brutal he is in attack and defense (provided he manages to get a hit on), but there's just something about him that rubs me wrong.

Target the big fucker with kicks and make him earn his metres.

Did Mitchell start all those games? And the so called 'Pool of Death' hardly lived up to it's name after all the hype. If France were 'woeful', Wales and England weren't too far behind.

65% is a pretty average stat and I would put NMS up against any of the wingers Mitchell has had to face so far.

Things they're better at:

● Attack (see France)
● Lineout
● Goalkicking
● Haka (especially the one with the throat-slitting gesture)
● Forming arrowhead formations
● Being very serious

Things we're better at:

● Defence
● Scrum (if Scotty Sio's fit)
● Breakdown
● Winning World Cups in the United Kingdom
● Sex
● Mining
● Rugby foruming
● Self-deprecating humour

How is it that Grant Fox, a current All Black selector, is told the identity of the referee before it is made public? And why does he then make it public? Was he told officially? Does he have a deep throat within the referees appointments ranks?

It all sounds a little odd to me.

Fox says that the All Blacks were informed before the semi-final that Owens would be in charge of the next weekend's finale.

Same here. They're a fucking strange race when rugby is involved.

Absolutely salt of the earth at all other times, but rugby triggers some masochistic morose response that just isn't warranted.

Poor buggers, best in the world and struggle to truly enjoy it.
