Why not quote everything he said?

"Yeah, they've had a few bumps and adversity, but what I think Australia have done in the last 12 months, they've really had a look at themselves and made some really good changes.

"They have got real clarity in how they want to play the game. Michael Cheika and his crew can take a bow - they've done a great job.

"It's great for rugby. We need as many strong nations playing this game as possible, and Australia are one of the teams we'd expect to be strong all the time."

"They seem to have got their house in order, and are playing accordingly"

Really douche bag right there huh?

I don't have time to sift through a million and one articles searching for various quotes that have ticked me off in the past, but this sort of comment annoys Australians. In all reality it probably isn't much, but any New Zealand National Rugby Union Team coach doesn't get a whole heap of leeway to start from Wallaby supporters.

This is the vibe I’m getting: The Wallabies have peaked against Argentina, and won’t play as well as they did for that game. Their focus will have dropped. Like it did for the 2nd Bledisloe this year. This has been their pattern for as long as I can remember. Pocock also seems distracted by other things. NZ will play better than they did against SA. NZ have to win this one. Their status depends on it. And they will be farewelling several of their greats. They won’t let each other down.

BUT... if the Wallabies are to win, they will have to go up a couple more notches. They will need to play like men possessed. Whether they’re losing or even winning, they will need to play like men possessed. They can’t afford to get lazy at the 50, 60, or 70 minute mark. They need to overcome that. They need to play like men possessed for the whole 80 minutes. That’s the only way.

We shall see...

I've heard a bit of stick around about the Wallabies not addressing NZ as the All Blacks but who are we to judge the methods Cheika uses to get his team into the right frame of mind.

"Can I say All Blacks now for you? Right, OK," Cheika said before making strangled noises and putting his hand around his throat.
"Poltergeist! No mate … maybe everybody's got a little bit too much time on their hands because that's like making something out of nothing.
"They've had a bit of a crack at me thinking that I don't say that for certain reasons. But it's pretty funny because if you notice, I never call Australia the Wallabies either. I'm a bit old fashioned that way.
"Australia is Australia, New Zealand is New Zealand and France is France. So there's no secret squirrel."

Beat me to the punch! Just reiterates the point, trust it to the media to beat this sort of thing up! Apparently Sir Clive enforced the 'No All blacks' rule on the Lions tour in '05. That worked well...... Some journalist has just dug that up and try to re use it for a bit of a story.

Sometimes I think all this guff about a deep and enduring respect between NZ and SA rugby would be different if there were 650,000 Kiwis living there and you were separated by a short flight.

It's all a bit academic when Bokke and All Black fanboys are circlejerking on the Internet.

Of course we respect the All Blacks. They are arguably the greatest sporting team in the world. Our (my) problem rests with the fans and I'm sure the sentiment is shared by my cousins across the ditch.

No surprises in either team. Hopefully Sio isn't too undercooked, but I said that about Poey last week and look at his performance! Cane and Vito are some energetic fresh legs.

I couldn't careless if that's what Hansen thinks, after all he inherited a team of champions who've done pretty much all the hard work.

Australia to win by two converted tries, one, a pushover, (scored whilst #7 is in the sin-bin), and the other, by Foley, leaving Nonu distraught, after a missed-tackle!

How about a scrum penalty to Aus in the 79th minute. 47m out. Beale steps up, carefully scrapes the mud from between his sprigs, calmly goes back and slots the fucker.

Mass hysteria.

On the topic of balanced media, here's good ol' Nesbo (Nisbo? Struggle to tell with the wild vowels) having a crack.

Really strong in this one, the hubris is.

Some choice excerpts:

It's all a bit tiresome really and most of the drivel comes from the other side of the Tasman where they, rightfully, have a dreadful inferiority complex when it comes to the All Blacks. Understandable isn't it - 42 wins in 154 tests - an appalling record and one that the great Okkers really struggle with. Suck it up because it could get worse.

Part of me wouldn't mind if the Wallabies got the win on a 50/50 penalty call in the 80th minute just to really stir shit up.

No. Just no. If we manage a win, I want it to be as pure as the driven snow. No iffy calls, no dodgy penalties, nothing even 50/50. I don't want them to have even the faintest reason to undermine our achievement. I want us to earn it all the fucking way.
