^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ McD's, HJ's/ BK & KFC are also popular but you just can't beat a just-beyond-blue eye fillet :).
Steak on the grill turned just once for just a figurative 20 overs a side v your hamburger full of tension, gristle and cooked for five days on a changing surface, both sides twice?

Cannot see why you can't enjoy both. I do. I love being able to have Test Cricket on the TV etc. as i go about my business. But I also enjoy the pace of T20 games. Each format shows off different elements of what makes the game so great. Test matches are about pressure, precision and patience while T20 are about the power game and executing the core skills particularly in theh field. There's room for both.

^^^^^^^^^ absolutely there's room for both, I'd just like to see more of a contest more often: the occasional exceptional innings a la Warner, McCullum etc is all well & good but I'd also like to see the likes of Hazelwood & Boult being more than just cannon fodder.

I'm going to assume you're being facetious :)

Really impressive from Maxwell whether Aus go onto win or not.

Strange call to bowl first. Sure the first 2 games sure very impressive chases but still prefer to have runs on board. Also great to see some fight and passion from India tonight in the field.

That's now 28 games without a loss at home across all formats for Australia.

Last time was in Nov 2014 against South Africa.

Despite struggles away (7 losses from 15 games), that's a pretty remarkable record.

Warner in for Ussie, Lyon in for Paris for the last 2 ODIs.

Finch (c), Bailey, Boland, Boyce, Hastings, Head, Lyon, Lynn, Maxwell, SMarsh, Richardson, Smith, Tait, Tye, Wade, Warner, Watson is the squad for the T20s.

Again missing the big 4 pacemen, but no Ussie, Burns, MMarsh, or Faulkner is a little bit odd. A few BBL players rewarded, a couple missing out.

They got their tails up for a few overs, but then dropped them once it got to the last 5 overs.

Need to replace Dhoni as captain with Kohli. He might look arrogant, but I'll bet our guys do too from the outside.

Dhoni far too negative in his field placings - sometimes he appears lost for what to do next. Kohli is a competitor and a far more aggressive type of character. One thing for certain - you can't give away easy singles of just about every ball and hope to beat a good side.

Dhoni's captaincy is quite reliant on the performance of the team. His aggression is proportional to the confidence that he has in his troops. The bowling attack that he brought to Australia looks underdone. He's been quite unimaginative.

Kohli has a more impetuous and enthralling approach towards captaincy. He woud probably take more chances which might be to the detriment of an unprepared bowling brigade.

While few things beat a well executed innings, it would be nice to watch the swinging ball make some inroads into both batting line ups. Is this too much to ask for?

Cricket should have limited bat size years ago.

This reminded me of a morcambe and wise skit. tried to find but alas.

The crowd were applauding the fantastic innings (not in view) and the tremendous number of boundaries that were being scored. Finally the batsman was out, and came back to the stands to rapturous applause.

(finally enters view) He was holding a bat that was three feet wide.

Don't expect any Australian pitches to swing, seam or even spin very far. We seem intent on dead pitches which are batting paradises that essentially allow Australia to bat other sides out of the game.

As Strewcobber correctly observes, we look unbeatable on these pitches, but struggle on anything which swings, seams or spins to any degree.

I assume that CA take us all for a pack of bogan dills who won't watch anything unless Australia win.

For a form of the game that is allegedly in the doldrums, those numbers are immense.

I wonder how the Wallabies RWC games rated?
The Gf did about 800k fta with 340k on foxtel. Other games were much less than that, but the timezone was a real killer

For context CWC did 3.3m on fta and 520k on foxtel

Would imagine the Roads are to please the broadcasters as much as anything else. Virtually guarantees at least 95 overs bowled.

I can't be bothered watching 20/20. I feel sorry for the bowlers running in on flat tracks to batters with little to lose holding massive lumps of wood.
It's not a contest.

It's just a different contest isn't it?

Test match run rates have moved up by almost one an over in recent years so an acceptable economy rate has moved from under 3 to under 4.

ODIs have gone from 220 being a winning score and bowlers needing to go for under 4 an over to 300+ scores and under 6 being a reasonable economy rate.

In T20, anything under 8 an over is good going for the batsman.

The bat size/technology is a tricky one. It has certainly changed the game due to the immense power bats now have. The problem is that they haven't got any heavier. It's the same amount of wood that just isn't pressed so it is much softer and 'bigger' but still weighs the same. The outcome is that bats are far more powerful but far less durable.

I think it would be a substantial challenge to limit bat sizes. There'd have to be a maximum thickness for the edge, the toe, and at the middle of the sweetspot of the back of the bat. Bat makers would then presumably press their bats down to be right at that size. Would they then be liable to expand slightly to make them illegal?

Boundary ropes have also made a reasonable difference on the size of grounds. It's certainly a good thing because it has made players safer whilst allowing for more athletic fielding attempts to stop boundaries. It also makes it easier to hit 4s and 6s.

If you were making a new international ground now I'd guess you'd make it bigger than they ever were before to help restore the integrity of a 6 requiring a very big hit and not being achievable with a top edge.

Well, they DO have Warne on their commentary team ;)

And in any case, if you don't have Foxtel, domestic games and Ashes in England (which may change) is all you get to watch in terms of cricket outside BBL.

Therefore you get to see Aussies win.

I'm not so concerned with the bats. One of the other results of the bigger edges is that more nicks carry to the keeper/slips and bat pads. There is a tradeoff.

Of course there's also the training that players do these days, Geoff boycott never practiced hitting sixes, but its a skill you have to have now. Players would be better at it these days no matter which bat they used.
