Yadav's many airswings (2 runs from 11 balls) doesn't fill me with much confidence. But the salient point is losing 9 wickets for 46 when victory looked like a doddle; I suspect the ICC coppers will be examining this match carefully.

Not a good look, India.

Aussies dropping a coupla dead-set dolly catches in a dead-rubber match don't look too flash either, eh cobber :)

Couple of missed catches, and about 10 runs short off the last 3 overs hurt the Aussies, but very well played this time India. T20s will be fun.

............... and he does. I expect ICC's coppers to launch a full investigation of Straya's capitulation post haste (or not) :)

Two years ago maybe but I reckon he's past it now. Pandey otoh looks well capable of getting them home......
Yeah great innings by Pandey. Good chase by India with that bit of luck you need. Dhoni just did enough

Hastings another great effort (and should get player of the series if there was any justice in the world - averaged 20 on these wickets)

Pattinson and Hazelwood will hopefully add a bit of punch for both NZ and the W20. Richardson and Hastings look strong options, but Boland and Paris not so much. Prefer a BOSOS who can give his all for 6-8 rather than being forced to bowl 10 as well, so hopefully Haxwell is fit too.

EDIT: I also thought Wade played well. He was rather under pressure after the last game, but he had a quality late innings cameo, and did everything right behind the stumps tonight.

Went out to the game last night - was the best game of the series. Not because we lost, but it was the only match that either team could win right down to the last ball.

Another batmen's paradise and again India gave away almost 20 runs in extras - had they lost, this would have been the reason IMO. They bowled more than 2 overs of wides and no-balls, plus 4 byes which went through Dhoni's legs. They also give away too many easy singles inside the circle - very obvious at the ground that the Aussie infielders are 5 metres or so closer to the bat than the Indians.

Great innings from MMarsh and Warner for Australia and Pandey and Sharma for India. Not sure I agree about Wade, yes he batted well, but while there were no dropped catches tonight there were a few bobbles and juggles and sometimes it looks like he just traps the ball in his gloves rather than catches it. I couldn't help but notice how well Cameron Bancroft kept wicket for the Scorchers in BBL - and can bat better than Wade as well.

Notice also that Smith was quoted in yesterday's Telegraph remarking on the flatness of the pitches this summer and was going to raise it with CA. He also made comment at the after match presentation last night.

And if Ricky Ponting still wants to know why batsmen shouldn't accept the word of the fieldsman on catches, then he should be made to look at the Bailey "catch" 100 times.;)

Aus now in trouble. And can we please stop mixing up batsmen, sure it is an insight but one I can do without. Especially in these days of sideline interviews straight away.

Lynn and Head to bring us home.

4 wickets from spin, plus noted issues from Lynn playing spin.

Maxwell is good against the turning ball so should be good for when he's fit, but ultimately that's the in for all three of Bailey, SMarsh and Koala.

A fairly feeble effort last night, supplied by a frustratingly dysfunctional selection committee.

There's a lot to be said for just picking the best players isn't there?;)

Ultimately, our bowlers didn't do enough to restrict India, and some good spin bowling - along with a lack of footwork from the batsmen - crippled us.

The end.

Starc and Maxwell are injured. I guess M Marsh could have been picked but they went with Watson instead and to be fair he bowled well.

That team we saw last night isn't far from our best IMO. To have any chance against India you have to destroy their middle order with the ball, we didn't even get to Youvraj.

Fast ball attack for Aus was just not up to standard. Tait is as wayward as ever he was but doesn't have the sheer fear factor of a few years ago. Richardson is just not adequate against top level batsmen.

Then we had a batting line up that was unable to handle run of the mill spin bowling. Wonder just how smug the selectors are feeling now about leaving Khawaja, one of the best players of spin, out of the side "because there are too many good players in form". Ha! Egg on collective faces.

Can't see the Aussies winning consistently at this form of the game without the likes of Starc, Hazelwood and Pattinson leading the attack. But really, should we even care, it is just hit and giggle for the players.

Yes, they are playing for there country and it showed in every facet last night how much more seriously India was taking the match. Kohli's send off of Smith was spot on and I totally agree with him. Then all the bravado in the innings break about how Aus wouldn't have too much trouble chasing down the total. Three players were interviewed and each gave the impression an Aus win was a mere formality. Not to surprising then they were embarrassed.

Did anyone think Channel 9's pestering of/chinwagging with Smith was inappropriate? It seemed to upset his concentration immediately before he lost his wicket. Are the bland, banal contributions from those wearing a mic in the field worth it?
