My understanding is that the coach of the defending premiers coaches GPS 1's. Not sure of the pecking order if there are joint premiers. Maybe the other coach gets the 2's. This happened in 2014 where the New coach got 1's and Blackburn got the 2's (Scots & New shared 2013 premiership)

Thanks for the insight. makes sense.:)

There is mail to that affect from CAS school council quarters also. Not sure how reliable it is.

Can't see how or why it would happen. No CAS school defeated a GPS school this year as far as I know. And the team on top of the CAS competition was beaten comfortably by the team coming fourth in the GPS. That's before we even get to how many teams each school could run.

I heard it from Shore sources.
2 divisions.
On my assessment Knox would be the only school from CAS in Div 1.
Div 2 could be a great comp.

And the team on top of the CAS was narrowly beaten by the team on top of the Auckland First XV competition with 4 and 0 record ytd . BTW the same team beat Auckland grammar 50 nil on the weekend so they are not that bad.

Auckland is a long way to go for games. Auckland Grammar have gone the same way as Sydney Grammar, soI wouldn't get too excited over that result either.

I heard it was at least in part logistical. Knox for example was able to field teams to accomodate many of their Joeys counterparts, whereas there are often buses departing Hunters Hill on Saturdays bound for multiple schools across the city. If player numbers continue to decline across both associations, the problem will only get worse.

Just because CAS teams haven't been competitive against GPS teams this year, doesn't mean that will always be the case.
It was only a few years ago that CAS 16'S defeated GPS 16's.
And Knox,Trinity and Waverley have lots of young talent coming thru the grades.
I think it would be good thing for schoolboy rugby.Have 2 divisions with a promotion and relegation system and include not only GPS and CAS teams but also some of the stronger ISA and CHS schools.
It seems from your comments Quick Hands, that you think that GPS rugby schools are the be all and end all.
Looking at the Waratahs and Wallaby teams of late, only a small percentage of players come from the GPS system. In fact, many come from CHS schools out west.
And I went to a GPS school......

Would be good to see that happen but I have my doubts they'd do it... well not for a while anyway

Does anyone actually know what the proposal is??

I was assuming a 12 team comp for 1st grade. (which I am warming to)

Assuming TAS & Grammar would come in at 2nd Grade. Not sure about High.

Yep sure have. Premiers in 2014 runners up last year and 3 from 4 this year. Auckland Grammar going same way

And I went to a GPS school..

From the NSW Waratahs player profiles

14 attended AAGPS schools
1 attended GPS (QLD Schools)
1 attended CAS
16 attended CHS, ISA, CCC etc schools
4 educated overseas

6 schools contributing nearly 50% of the players could hardly be described as a "small percentage"...

JHave 2 divisions with a promotion and relegation system

Just stop and think about that for a split second.
On what basis would you promote and relegate: results in 1sts? Ability to supply an F team to match an F team. Or would you promote and relegate on an age by age basis, or an age and level (C's D's etc) basis.
If you think the third comp is a logistical nightmare contemplate either the logistical nightmare of trying to match different age groups or the mismatch between teams whose ability to compete was determined on last year's 1sts...or the A's.
Besides which the CAS and GPS (leaving aside ISA etc) have completely different policies on recruitment.
