I genuinely don't know. 50/50.

If all goes well, he'd be a strong complement to the backline of running players we have, particularly without Ellison or Harris, we're likely to play Hodge plus at least 3 of Engo, Dom, Sefa, Inman, Sione and Koriobete, none of whom are super creative, but most are powerful runners and strong defenders. If Jack ended up playing fullback as well, it'd give him a serious chance to regain some form, and train/play under an experienced fly half, something he's still not really had an opportunity to do (No offence intended to Mikey).

Of course, he could be as shit and injury prone as he has been at Toulon and the Reds over the last 2 or 3 seasons, plus he could prove a disruptive influence on the group.

I say yes cautiously. Unless Berrick Barnes wants to relaunch his international career, a better starting fly half isn't likely to fall into our hands, and Jack is looking significantly less like making it (in terms of being elite rather than as a Super Quality player) than he did 9 months ago.

I like the idea of QC (Quade Cooper) replacing Harris. His only 28 so his still got some rugby ahead of him, and he might just want a fresh start.

1) We need an experienced play maker in the backline
2) JD needs some competition for his spot, has been dreadful this year. Possibly why Stirzaker is struggling to.
3) He puts bums on seats, this is Melbourne and at the moment the Rebels don't have that well known player that people will be interested to watch.

With Meehan, JD and English on the bench is a pretty good backline to me. Than chase a good out of contract lock(s).

Would be my preferred configuration of those personnel, but otherwise agree.

^^^Inman needs to move to 13, his a ball crashing back (He has finally passed a couple of times this season) and we need to be able to spread the ball. Inman/Sefa does not offer that in my opinion.

My gut feel is that Cooper has too much individual play, or "x" factor, or whatever the hell its called, to be a good fit for the Rebels.

Bottom line is that while I have no doubt he is team focused, he does things that require advance levels of mind-reading in the players around him.

The Rebels have spent years trying marquee big name players, and what we as supporters have learned is that it has never really worked for us. Our team, and our playing style, is around a bunch of blokes that are all on a journey together and complement each other - isn't that pretty much the hallmark of a Tony McGahan Rebels team?

If the chase to get Cooper is true, it seems odd that Tony seems to be going completely against the philosophy he has followed for years now; especially as this team is really step-changing in the right direction. Maybe not as fast as we would like, but forward is better than backward and supporters are always impatient for success.

I've nothing against QC (Quade Cooper), but he would divide opinion both within the team and the supporter base. I can easily see the stories around the Rebels being all about QC (Quade Cooper), not the team, and that is not what we are about. To quote the people on Sharktank, for that reason I am out.

Remember that Quade's family is in Brisbane. I'd say that would sway his thinking a fair bit.

It would not surprise me at all if this talk about the Rebels going after QC (Quade Cooper) turns out to be nothing but hot air. This is exactly the sort of story that pops up whenever one of Khoder Nasser's clients is negotiating a deal. It's a wonder that we haven't heard about at least one NRL team making some offer as well.

Daz, I think you're looking at any potential signing of Quade in a small minded manner.

From an on-field perspective, I think he definitely doesn't fit. Dumper seems to have a preference for more of a low risk, bashing, conservative style of play and Quade doesn't really add to that.

Off-field I wouldn't be surprised if Cox is the one pushing the race for his signature. Not because the stories about the Rebels would be about Quade. Because Quade would bring more stories about the Rebels. Currently they're lucky to get a single story in the Herald Sun 3 days a week. If you can't see the benefit of increasing that exposure then I don't know what to say.

They though that would be the case with O'Connor and Beale - just the headlines weren't what they wanted.
