Bloody well said, I take my hat off to you Sir. I hope the other Super Rugby franchises take note!

I hope the Reds take note and sign the bloke to play 15. He'd be massively more effective than Goromaru was in delivering onfield excitement & boosting attendances at the Reds.

Frisby, Cooper, Nabuli, Hunt, Kerevi, CFS & Hayne would do nicely as a 2017 backline.

Then poach Vunivalu from the Storm to take CFS's spot for 2018...

The Reds need to use their money more constructively on developing rugby players not attention seekers.

They can still develop rugby players at the same time as they're beating the Tahs with Hayne running on to a Cooper pass for the match winner...

Bringing in these players from other codes will do nothing for the rugby culture the Reds should be trying to develop.

I don't think the Reds have time to wait for Hayne to figure out how not to commit a penalty offense at every single breakdown.

So what's the pass mark for 2017?
Beat all Aussie rivals at home
Beat the two bottom placed Aussie teams away and one of the top two Aussie teams away. I realise this in not how the draw no works so delete the game that do not occur

So I would be happy with
Brumbies home win, away loss
Tahs home win, away win
Rebels home win, away win
Force home win, away win

A win at home against a NZ team and a win in NZ and win all home games against SA/ARG/JAP teams and win one game in SA/ARG and win in JAP

I want more bonus points!!!!

In what way has Hayne done anything that could be construed as a risk to Reds culture?

If a Goromaru deal could be done, little real cost to the Reds combined with a broader opportunity for the player, I say do it. After the real benefits that Australian rugby has gained on the back of Fiji, I dont have a problem with one player being ineligible for the Wallabies. Have to agree though, that ARU funds should by definition not be available.

Waratahs and NSWRU have correctly (imo) judged home issues as more important. I would have put much of that to a disconnect ou SS and SRU with the rest of the NSW community myself, but its their issue to deal with.

Qld rugby is hardly a world of complete togetherness either, but when you look through Reds support to community and Premier rugby, players coming through Premier to NRC to Reds. We sit in a completely different situation to NSW. The NSW decission is understandale.

But maybe, just maybe, he might be worth a little investigation north of the Tweed.

.
Goromaru was a failure for Reds Rugby (lesson learnt hopefully). Hayne would be there for Hayne and his ego. Granted he has a good sporting ability but it takes more than that in a TEAM to create a winning culture not just waking up one morning thinking "maybe I'll try rugby union today, who will be the highest bidder". The Reds would have to spend upward of $600k to secure him and in my opinion that money could be better spent on coaching and or developing players who want to be there for the right reasons. End of subject.

Some interesting words from D Herbert re the Stiles choice quoted on today's The Australian:

"(Bret Harris) But Stiles’ experience as head coach of Brisbane City, guiding them to back to back titles in the National Rugby Championship in 2014 and 2015, was key to securing the Reds’ job.
“There were some very good-quality coaches to choose from,” Reds executive general manager Daniel Herbert said. “What pushed it Nick’s way were a couple of things. He demonstrated through his coaching the ability to improve players. When given the opportunity to lead a program, he has done that very well.
“He created an environment which the players enjoyed and thrived in and a winning environment.
“He was able to articulate to the panel and the board a clear vision of how he would drive a standards based culture, how he would develop a skills platform that over time will reap rewards and lastly he is emotionally invested.
“He bleeds red. He is a product of our pathway. This is a reward for ticking the boxes along that pathway.”

He was doing so well and then it all to pieces on that last statement. Stick with him being the best man for the job and sell that line.

I think your cross to Goro in this way is a mis-direction. And I think you are jumping the gun on the financial impacts.

Yes I hope lesson is learned from Goro. Purchased without input from the HC (or against it) where a possible role was unlikely. ALSO that we received a huge marketing hit (bloody important to our finances in 2016).

I havent suggested that we burn finances without concern to land him. What I'm saying is that we should be smart enough to see an opportunity, and we should be professional enough to properly test it. By all means drop the hot potato after investigation, but check it out first.

Given QC (Quade Cooper)'s tweets will the Hayne Plane be landing at Ballymore?

I think signing Hayne could be one of the most disrespectful things the QRU could do to the fans. It demonstrates that they're not concerned about improving the team, but would prefer a few extra fans at the game regardless on how the team performs.

More importantly, 90% of League fans in Brisbane despise Hayne, so why would they come to a Union game to watch a guy they don't care about?

Pretty sure Hayne would improve the team. He'd be hugely hungry for success after the last couple of seasons so would work his arse off to prove the doubters wrong. If a deal can be done in the near future he could play NRC too. That'd help kick FoxSports ratings along.

Serving up another season of the same rubbish rugby would be more disrespectful than signing Hayne.

Hayne is shopping himself around. It is all about Hayne, Shit he WAS a great mungo player,

Whatever spin you put on it and for whatever reasons he "failed" at NFL and Sevens. He has no real background in Union. There are no guarantees that he would be successful (Like a Folau) and he ain't worth the gamble.

Would rather see the dollars spent on developing our own lads.

If he really wants to play our game, and they can afford to pay him he should be "forced" to head West.
