The idiot who ordered flat pitches on Australian cricket grounds should be sacked immedately

This seems like a convenient excuse for poor batting.

A large number of our dismissals have been batsmen playing for spin and getting bowled or LBW to a straight ball.

We've been routinely bad against spin in most conditions for quite a few years now.

This, :(
It doesn't swing much in Australia. It never has. It doesn't spin much in Australia. It never has, especially for finger spinners.

Not really a huge surprise that we struggle against swing and spin. Our players never face it, and even when conditions might be helpful, they domestic bowlers they face aren't nearly as good as the international players who spend their lives in those conditions.

I had similar thoughts but bottom line is ACB wants revenue from Australian summers and that means Australian teams need to win - also impact of T20.

Even with SL 2/9 this game is as good as over. No way we'll chase down whatever total they set. It's a fucking joke because we chucked away the first test with poor batting and look like doing so again. Cannot. Bat. Away. From. Home.

I'd love to pull the stats of our team batting performances home v away in the last 10 years. It would make for some sorry reading.
No doubt. But that's true of everyone isn't it?

There is a major issue in Australian cricket with how to deal with finger spin and swing bowling.

Bring up the list of overseas test victories though and its a bit less doom and gloom. We've won more than anyone.

It's very hard to play test cricket overseas at the moment. For everyone.

Follow up question. How do we get better at playing finger spin?

Off spinners have always struggled here. It's not a recent thing.

Even the traditional route of going somewhere that spins to learn is pretty much gone now with the packed T20 schedule. It would be a huge financial sacrifice.

Is there a solution?

Much obliged for the stats and more or less as I thought: we're lions at home and lambs away, even though we're better than most. But really, should we be losing to fucking Sri Lanka? They've just copped a towelling against England and yes that was away too, but last time we played them at their place we won.

Dear Australian batsmen:
Its the end of the 2nd day. PLEASE don't throw your wickets away. Please just bat conservatively for the next 3 and a bit days. Wait for the bad balls and punish them on those. DON'T bat aggressively, you've got time.

Signed,
Every Australian cricket fan on GAGR

11/94 from Starc. Great bowling, but bloody hell he needs some more support.

Poor Dutchy.

Bloody hell. Herath takes yet another one as Burns floats one straight to the fielder.
