This is massive. They had made quite a good fist of first division this season.

So they can't be in div 1 next season, and they start all grades on -10 next season. How many players will want to stick around?????

If they keep quality, it could potentially only be two games?????

Farrrrrrk... That is nuke squared by Subbies. Just think of all the clubs that would get booted if they had more than a few people able to investigate these things

Yes appears subbies are now intent on destroying the club. Harsh start to next season will players exit in droves. They might drop to 3rd Div leaving 3 clubs having to come up from Div 3 to fill the gaps.

Clubs were told that this would happen if they broke the rules. I am glad subbies went through with it.

But what happens if a coach or other official is slipping players money without any knowledge by committees etc? That's where it gets tough...

Penalty handed down to Lindfield for their breach of the amateur status has been made public and it is huge.

This is a penalty harsher than what got served up to the Eels/Storm/Bulldogs. I'm not going to comment on the individual's punishments as I don't know their story but:
A) Minus roughly 4-500cc points next year. Effectively a demotion down another grade if they don't have a stellar season.
B) -10 points per grade start to the season, makes any of their teams getting into finals a long shot, again needs a stellar season.
C) Committee to be vetted for start of next year - is the ic going to be present at the agm to say yes or no, or will Lindfield have to continually vote until they get it right?

So who is going to go to/stay at a club with little finals prospects after a long season, who is going to volunteer knowing the level of scrutiny they will get as well as no chance of having something to celebrate at the end of the year?

Who wants to take bets on what shape Lindfield is in in 3 years time?

Or the end of the next 5 years?

Not sure what people want subbies to do in this situation. Its reasonable to say that lindfield were going down anyway, so relegation wasnt enough as a punishment, more had to be done. Maybe if they had been higher in club champs the punishment could have been just relegation. If the punishment had been any less that what it was, im pretty confident a similar proportion of people would have been on here bellyaching about "subbies going soft on a north shore club again".

What boggles the mind is the lack of research done by lindfield when bringing this guy in. A very small amount of google searching would tell you that this bloke only plays where the coin is flowing, and has a pretty bad rep in general. But then again maybe they knew and ignored it...

Two 5 year de-registrations, 1 life ban, stopping 2 finals campaigns (2nds and 3rds), 10K bond, + the demotion.

They've managed to hit the people responsible as well as the club (and all the players in 2's/3's looking forward to finals) without targeting next years crop.

I understand subbies desire to stop payments but it's next years punishments that people are probably finding a bit unpalatable.

i think Subbies have yet again been backed into a corner that no one is going to agree they have down the right thing

I think the call that they have made is correct, let's think if they were found to have done this in Round 2 and punishment was handed out then they would have just been kicked out of the year and relegated the following year

Being its the last round of the year although your also punishing the playing group again ADMINISTRATORS need to be held responsible and if that means that the playing group is affected as well then I'm sorry but that serves them right

Now as prodigy said let's be fair is 2 wins to be back on an even playing field with the teams that get off to slow starts. I feel they should come back through Div 3 and Subbies should promote HAC, Beecroft and Redfield/Brothers and may just have to swallow some pride if these teams can't field a colts sides as they can certainly field enough Grade teams

I think Subbies needed to make a statement that this competition is an Amatuer competition and they have done exactly that, I guarantee now clubs will take it seriously

Subbies board good on you for sticking to your guns, Lindfield total and utter stupidity by them especially when they actively recruit on an overseas player site "Sporgle" it was bound to happen sooner rather than later

Given Subbies doesn't actually have the power to seize records etc, and anyone smart wouldn't leave a paper trail, it is a fair assumption to say someone sold Lindfield out. Beyond any idiocy like advertising on sporting recruitment sites.

I'd also add: the likelihood of only one club failing the amateur test is extremely unlikely.

Sorry mate, Subbies website was wrong. I thought it was interesting. From what I saw of the game, Hills were dominating.

They actually were stupid enough to leave a trail. Bank transfers, not paper bags. The player got $700 for 3 games. HE even signed a stat dec saying he was getting paid and showed Subbies the bank transfers in return for a release back to Shute Shield.
I have no sympathy for Lindfield. Bunch of cheating wankers and they deserve everything they got!

What Shute Shield club'd be silly enough to take Moli on? A quick glance with some assistance from Aunty Google shows his commitment to any club to be non-existent. If I was a SS coach I'd insist on three months' acceptable performances in third grade.

Newport apparently lead 19-13 with 10 to go but two late converted tries to Hills sealed it.

I heard some of Blacktowns fijians didn't have their visas renewed and were going to have to leave the country before the finals.

Anyone know any more on this?

Only that what you've said is the going rumour in 4th division.

Regardless, I didn't think Blacktown Firsts were that good overall on the one viewing I saw them. Very poor defensive side, give up cards easily under pressure, and aren't going to flourish under a decent ref.

Irish First Grade are fit, fast and disciplined, even if they do whine to the refs a bit too much ;)

At this point in the comp I think Irish can take Firsts with Blacktown probably taking the lower two grades.
