Newington displayed a clear superiority over Knox in both the Backs and Forwards. In the first half Newington dominated at the Breakdown and used their possession very effectively. This was best demonstrated in a vast improved backline performance. New backs throw the ball alone the backline with total confidence, precision and pace. They used the width of the field to stretch Knox's defence to create gaps. Their back up play was excellent and where it be backs or forwards. Additionally, New punched up the ball and made yards against a Knox defence that simply missed first up tackles too often.

The second was more even, but Newington"s errors in their pick and drive on the Knox defensive line lost then an opportunity for at least two further tries to be added to their score.

This was a most impressive display by Newington as team. The coordination between forwards and backs is getting stronger and can be expected to improve even further.

Knox for its part was very competitive but were a level or two below that of Newington. They had some great individual performances, but where never in the hunt in comparison to the team effort produced by Newington. One school had a good team, the other had an excellent team.

In other games:-
Newington 2ndXV 26 b Knox 5
Knox 3rd XV 15 b Newington 7
Newington 4th XV 19 b Knox 5
Knox 16As 34 b Newington 5
Newington 15As 60 b Knox 0
Newington 14As 29 b Knox 22
Newington 13As 46 b Knox 5

A big sigh of relief for the Scots faithful at Lane Cove today.
After a dismal performance last week against Joeys.............normal service was resumed.
49-7 was a fair reflection of the game.
Scots dominated across the park.
Riverview were under pressure in the set pieces and simply unable to contain the larger Scots backs.
Savala's return at fly half made a world of difference releasing Smith and Yassmin to run over, through and around the opposition.
Yassmin again grabbed a couple and will be a handful for all comers this year.
In the pack Williams and Bours at second row were strong in the set piece and combined beautifully in the second half for a rampaging try that had the Scots supporters on their feet and the bagpipes playing.
Breen in the front row was rock solid, Harris at number 8 all over the park with an excellent work rate.
The season is shaping nicely.
It will be an interesting match up next week against Knox.

Knox were robbed by the referee today. Ridiculous refereeing. We are far better than Newington. They were hitting late shots, taking swings off the ball and cheating all day.

At least three attacking moves by Newington, had they not been stopped by the referee would have resulted in three more tries. Blowing the score out to at least 44 to 17. But the referee made his decision and as a Newington supporter I accept that decision with grace, but above all as part of the rules as established by the rules of conduct by both the GPS and CAS.

By ignoring these rules,as a Knox supporter you have not done any credit to yourself, Knox Grammar School or the great game of Rugby Union.

I believe its time to refer your lack of sportsmanship and your disrespect for the GPS and CAS code of conduct to moderators of this forum.

Ours is the game of the gentrified Professional Middle Class, with its innate values, established traditions and accepted standards of personal behaviour.

I shall not attack your character or the past comments you made on this site. But by attacking a referee who has given up his Saturday afternoon to support a game he clearly loves, you have crossed the line of acceptable behaviour as far as I am concerned.

I therefore ask Lee Grant and Azzuri, its time now for this individual to be Red Carded from Green and Gold, as his comments degenerate this site.

Waverley were very impressive. Great side. Great win. Congratulations.

Sorry RichE,

I didn't keep our date, simply forgot, I think you can understand I got caught up in the game.
None of us expected that result.

It appeared to me that Joeys got rattled early, and Waves were aggressive and pretty slick, I think you saw a few standouts there who are seriously talented.
There are a few league boys in that team, and I know rah rahs hate to admit it, but they are skillful and technically tackle so well.

Funny game footy, against Kings were were terrible, and the boys were angry with themselves, and today very focused.

Joeys will bounce back as always!

Any reports from Kings v Shore?

Azzuri, we are missing you already.:)

G'day @QH... didnt get to the game today. Was at the Highlanders v Beasties colts game last night.... great game and a great result. By the sounds of the score the Shoremen are in for a another tough year (much to Not in Straight's chagrine, I'm sure- pun intended)

After Barker beat Shore last week, it seemed to me that Shore had taken a step back.

Shore were leading the first 10-15 mins 3-0. Until Kings attack, rattled the Shore defence, leading to a couple of tries in the first half. Kings score multiple tries in the 2nd half and Kings ran away with the win. Dominant team on the day.
