Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

What we need is someone other than Asquith at 10. He can captain from 12 and let someone with a better decision-making process for guiding the team around.

I've watched one game of him live, and he still approaches it like a 7s player - mostly in terms of doing too much in space he doesn't have.

4 losses in a row for the Rams another poor season

It'd be good if they won a game or two before season's end, but if there are any NRC smokies signed on Super Rugby contracts it'll be from the Rams.

Latunipulu, Paenga-Amosa, Lolohea, Goodall, Viiga, and Sopoaga all look capable of making a step up (even if that's out Europe or Japan way) and Toleafoa looks deserving of Tahs minutes at lock (he hasn't been as good as Hanigan, but he's also taller).

The Rams are doing admirable things.

Eastwood have taken ownership of the Rams, and John Maneti a potential new coach

From ARU :

Eastwood goes west

There's been another ownership shakeup in the NRC. Off the back of this week's announcement that the Vikings Group would be taking over the Canberra NRC side, the Western Sydney Rams are also set to find themselves in new hands.

The Rams' private owners are believed to have offloaded the club, with Shute Shield club Eastwood effectively taking the reins from now own. John Maneti has been mentioned as a potential coach.

Wonder what would happen if they played as "Eastwood" in the NRC? Would they get bigger crowds?

They'd lose my support.

This does seem like an interesting turn of events. Wonder how long before we get news of say Manly taking control of the Rays licence etc. and so on. Seems very much like the possible beginning of a trend.

I think they should also continue to play out of Concord Oval. While even that is a bit of a stretch to declare as 'Western Sydney' playing out of TG Milner would be seen as taking the piss by many in the region.

Actually quite pleased initially as papworth was pretty anti nrc in times past and can only assume by this it means that is no longer the case. 100% rather papworth inside the tent then pissing on the nrc from outside the tent.

Hmmm. Not the silliest idea- but where would they play? Presumably wherever the Woods are moving to.
